The Blue Mage is the underrated Caster that has tons of fun.

Blue Mage is a Caster introduced in the Stormblood expansion, and is a very fun side-content that players can unlock to tackle a lot of new and old content with relative ease.

Blue mages currently have a total of 104 spells to collect, with each Blue Mage capable of bringing 24 spells into battle at once. This allows blue Mages to easily switch and swap spells and skills depending on the type of content they want to tackle, as well as the role they want to play, whether as a Tank, DPS, or even a Healer of the party.

10. Nightbloom

Nightbloom is the first Blue Spell to be introduced in this article, and is also coincidentally the last spell in the Spellbook of the Blue Mages, numbering at spell number 104.

Why Nightbloom is Great:

  • It is a very powerful and wide AoE spell that can be cast instantly and deal 400 potency damage to an enemy, with the remaining enemies receiving 50% less potency.
  • Even better, all enemies hit by the Nightbloom spell will be hit by a bleed DoT that deals unspecified damage for 60 seconds, making it easier to kill the enemies.
  • It's also a very flashy, beautiful spell based on Tsukuyomi's most prominent and ultimate spell in her trial, making it a very enchanting spell to perform as a Blue Mage.

9. Sonic Boom

Sonic Boom is the second spell to be introduced in this list, and while it is not as flashy as Nightbloom, it is still an essential spell for any Blue Mages out there.

Why Sonic Boom is Great:

  • It has a very fast casting spell, allowing Blue Mages to cast this spell quickly while weaving their other instant spells afterwards.
  • Furthermore, the cooldown for this spell is only as long as the player's GCD cooldown, allowing Blue Mages to use it repeatedly.
  • As a result, Sonic Boom is a must-cast spell when the other instant, powerful spells are on cooldown. It is a very powerful spell to bring to any battle, with 210 damage potency per spell.

8. Whistle

Whistle is the third spell introduced in this list, but is the first spell that can help boost other spells’ potency rather than dealing insane amounts of damage.

Why Whistle is Great:

  • Whistle is a spell that can increase the potency of the next spell cast by a whopping 80%.
  • Because this spell has a duration of 30 seconds, players can cast it before fighting the enemy to have a better starting point.
  • It is extremely effective when combined with spells like Final Sting to deal even more devastating damage to the boss.

7. Basic Instinct

The next spell to be introduced in this article is quite similar to Whistle, in terms of it boosting stats, but not so similar as it has its own unique qualities.

Why Basic Instinct is Great:

  • It is extremely useful when a Blue Mage decides to go solo for a specific content, such as farming for specific items, spells, or mounts with an undersized party.
  • When using this spell alone, the Blue Mage gains a 30% increase in movement speed, allowing the Blue Mage to move quickly from one area to another.
  • When playing solo, using Basic Instinct gives a whopping 100% bonus to healing potency and damage dealt, as well as ignoring the damage penalty by using Mighty Guard, allowing the Blue Mage to be a DPS, Tank, and Healer all at the same time.

6. Missile

The next spell to be featured here is a rather popular one that is often used to cheese events and dungeons, and therefore is a high priority to be learned by any budding Blue Mages.

Why Missile is Great:

  • Missile is a spell in the Blue Mage's spellbook that, with a certain percentage, can instantly obliterate an enemy. Although some bosses are immune to this skill, it can still be used to easily cheese a large number of dungeons.
  • It is a necessary spell for quickly clearing some of the events, such as the Moogle Treasure Trove.
  • Players can also use this skill to quickly kill the bosses of some dungeons, allowing them to progress faster, and the chance increases as more Blue Mage cast this skill in a party.

5. Moon Flute

Moon Flute is another spell that focuses mainly on boosting other spell’s power, instead of dealing damage on its own.

Why Moon Flute is Great:

  • It is a very powerful spell that should be included in any Blue Mage's OP opener or cheese combo.
  • It will grant players the Waxing Nocturne effect, which will increase damage dealt by 50% and speed by 30% for 15 seconds. While players will receive a debuff that prevents them from casting for 15 seconds after the effect ends, it is an extremely powerful way to open a heavy DPS opener.
  • It is very useful against cheesing the boss with Final Sting, or even using a series of powerful spells before ending it with a Final Sting to try to kill the boss in one opener.

4. Off-Guard

Off-Guard, just like some other spells that have been introduced in this article, is another spell that can boost the effect of other attacks that the Blue Mage has loaded into their spellbook.

Why Off-Guard is Great:

  • It is frequently combined with other boost spells such as Whistle and Moon Flute to increase the damage dealt by Blue Mages.
  • Off-Guard, unlike Whistle, is a spell that can be instantly cast between weaves of GCD, allowing Blue Mages to cast it easily.
  • It is also a spell that will apply a debuff to the boss, allowing all other Blue Mage's party members to deal 5 percent more damage to the boss for 15 seconds.

3. Final Sting

Final Sting is undoubtedly one of the best Blue Mage spells that players can get, as it is extremely powerful to be used on cheese combos and is used on the Kamikaze combo–a very popular combo that is executed by the Blue Mage to kill the enemy quickly.

Why Final Sting is Great:

  • For starters, it is extremely simple to learn and one of the few spells that Blue Mage can obtain at a low level without the assistance of other players.
  • Final Sting will deal 2,000 damage to the enemy while incapacitating yourself, and is a good spell to use at the end of your opener or after lowering the boss to a certain health percentage.
  • It can be combined with a variety of other boosting spells, including Whistle, Moon Flute, and Off-Guard. When done correctly, a group of Blue Mages performing Final Sting at the same time can instantly kill a raid boss.

2. The Ram's Voice + Ultravibration

The next spells introduced in this article are unique ones, since it comes in a package. However, this package is definitely a must-have for any Blue Mages that want to cheese dungeons quickly.

Why this combo is Great:

  • First, the Ram's Voice is an AoE attack that freezes all enemies within twelve seconds of the Blue Mage casting the spell.
  • Following that, Ultravibration is an extremely powerful spell that will KO all nearby enemies who are affected by Deep Freeze, which can be triggered by Ram's Voice.
  • This combination then allows Blue Mages to quickly freeze and kill mobs in the dungeons, allowing them to forge a path to the boss. When four Blue Mages are in a party, they can take turns KOing mobs with Ultravibration, allowing for a super fast clear.

1. Aetheric Mimicry

The last spell to be introduced in this article is a must-have for any Blue Mages, whether they be a Blue Mage that only wants to play for fun, to cheese dungeons, or to wreak havoc with their flashy spells.

Why Aetherial Mimicry is Great:

  • It is a very versatile spell that can be used in a variety of situations, such as the Blue Mage attempting to challenge the Masked Carnivale, the achievement of clearing all Savage raids with blue mages, or cheese dungeons, trials, and raids.
  • The spell allows a Blue Mage to mirror another player's aetheric properties, and depending on the other player's battle job when the Blue Mage casts the spell, the Blue Mage can be a Healer, Tank, or DPS.
  • Many spells would be boosted based on their respective roles. Healers would be able to cast spells with increased healing potency, DPS would be able to cast more spells with increased attack potency, and Tanks would be able to have higher defense and gain aggro from enemies.
  • This allows a Blue Mage to flex into certain roles and play according to the content they are going into; it also allows versatility and allows a party to have more healers, tanks, or DPS.
