[Top 10] Minecraft Island Seeds That Are Fun! (2022 Edition)

With the new update dropping just in time for the holiday season, now’s a great time to hop back into Minecraft if you haven’t in a while. Not sure where to begin or are looking for a certain challenge? Look no further than these ten awesome island seeds to start up a new game in.

10. -324424153368514409 - Coral Reef Seed

This island is a tree-covered grassy hill just a short boat ride away from an ocean monument, surrounded by a stunning coral reef. If you’re looking for a scenic building spot with a bit of a challenge nearby, this seed is perfect for you. The colorful coral reef provides a gorgeous backdrop to the already lovely little island, and the ocean monument is an awe-inspiring obstacle that could be hiding any number of secrets and treasures.

9. -8728062685661305102 - Double Island Seed

Check out the seed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxvyTzpPOR0

This seed spawns you on one of two kidney-shaped islands amidst a coral reef. There aren’t many trees, but there’s plenty of land to build on and a shipwreck to loot for treasure and resources. The islands are even concealing a mine shaft, if you’re interested in exploring the mysterious, abandoned tunnels.

8. 8645984949123157939 - Superflat Island Seed

Check out the seed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsyB3GWO2JM

This island isn’t a part of a world generated in superflat mode - the rest of the seed has a variety of landscapes visible from your island’s shores. However, if you’re looking for a blank canvas to build on, perhaps to do a bit of landscaping on your own by hand, then this seed is just what you’re looking for. It’s a great spot to build without worrying about the rest of the map looking as blaise as a superflat world usually does.

7. -3814536357855016049 - Sheep Island Seed

Check out the seed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsyB3GWO2JM

This island is exactly what it sounds like - a little landmass populated by sheep! Sheep are some of the most versatile mobs in the game, useful for food and also gathering wool for beds, both resources that are imperative at the start of any Minecraft game. There’s also an ocean monument nearby, so once you’re ready, armed with a fistful of wool, you can go ahead and tackle that challenge, too!

6. 10043006 - One Tree Forest Seed

Check out the seed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rn4smNt3Mp0

This island has the great misfortune of spawning with just one tree on it. Anyone who’s played skyblock before knows how precarious a situation that can be! Luckily, you’re in an ocean, not stranded in the sky, so if something goes wrong and you run out of trees, you have the option to venture out and explore for more. Food will not be a concern, as the island is well-stocked with cows and pigs, but you’ll have to go on a bit of a quest to find yourself some sheep!

5. 8362327139504403007 - Wildlife Island Seed

Check out the seed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsyB3GWO2JM

This island is populated by both oak and birch trees, but less important than the tree diversity is the wildlife located on the island. There is a beehive and a flock of sheep, so you never have to worry about running out of food or panicking about the sun setting before you’ve gotten your hands on a bed. Nearby is an almost completely intact shipwreck, sure to provide you with some handy loot!

4. 6950385622658651799 - Mushroom Island

Growing up, stumbling across a mushroom biome was one of my favorite experiences to have in Minecraft. I can’t help but smile when I see a Mooshroom’s square face peering up at me amongst tree-sized mushrooms. This seed spawns you right on a mushroom biome island. It’s fairly large, so you have space to spread out, and no shortage of food! Acquiring wood might require a bit of an adventure, though.

3. -609263012 - Taiga Village Seed

Check out the seed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rn4smNt3Mp0

On a previous list, I drew attention to an island seed that spawns you on a Taiga island, complete with a village and a shipwreck. This seed is similar, and considering I loved the last one so much, it only made sense to include it here. This island has a ruined portal close by and a neighboring island populated with a plains village, so trading and resources shouldn’t be an issue.

2. -4418106416194909842 - Plains Village Seed

Check out the seed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=

This seed spawns you on a sprawling plains village with their docks stretching off the island into the vast sea. Not too far away is an ocean monument. You can see another mountainous landmass in the distance, providing a beautiful backdrop for the village scene. If you’re looking for a bit of an idyllic tropical life with some danger sprinkled in, this seed is perfect for you.

1. -2468130032 - Ultimate Survival Challenge

Check out the seed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rn4smNt3Mp0

This seed is not for the faint of heart. The island you spawn on offers almost no resources whatsoever, and your path to wood and wool is blocked by multiple underwater obstacles overrun with hostile mobs. It will take a fair amount of grit and determination to overcome that great barrier of a reef - yes, that was intentional - and survive. Godspeed to you!

As it gets colder outside and cozier indoors, I’m sure I won’t be the only one drawn towards these island getaways in the sweet escapist game of Minecraft. Give a few of them a try, and get away from those winter blues for a little while! We’ll see you around. Happy gaming!
