Who would win in a fight? Darth Vader or Anakin Skywalker? What if Luke Skywalker fought the leader of the droid army General Grievous? Well Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has a mode where that can be possible: Heroes Vs Villains. This mode is a four on four battle where you can play as the galaxy's greatest heroes and deadliest villains. And just like the troopers, each hero has star cards to help make their abilities stronger.

But which of the 22 iconic Star Wars characters is the best to use?

S-Tier: All around great heroes for any situation. Powerful attacks, good health recovery. These heroes can withstand a lot of damage and have high chances of surviving.

A-Tier: These are still great heroes, and are slightly weaker than top tier. They also have a high survivability rating, and can be pretty good when attacking.

B-Tier: Slightly weaker heroes with moderate chance of surviving against troopers and higher tier heroes

Darth Vader: “Be Feared” (S-Tier)

“I find your lack of faith disturbing.” Despite his slow movements, the dark lord of the Sith himself, Darth Vader is an absolute power house. Vader can take a lot of damage before being defeated. His middle ability gives him a health bonus which can be very helpful when being surrounded to give him that extra chance of surviving.

Why is Darth Vader a superior hero?

• Base health of 800
• His focused rage ability brings his health up to 1000
• Recent re-work allows Vader to block and choke at the same time
• His saber throw does a total of 342 damage
• Combine choke and saber throw for a total of 552 damage

Luke Skywalker “Be heroic” (S-Tier)

“I will never join the dark side. I’m a Jedi.” Son of Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker is the fastest saber hero. Swift with his lightsaber, striking his enemies down with ease. All his abilities allow him to get rid of enemies and get him closer to finish them off.

Why is Luke Skywalker a superior hero?

• Base health of 750
• Force push can easily get rid of enemies sending them great distances and can be used in the air.
• Saber rush allows Luke to move quickly to get away from enemies or close distance
• Repulse is his strongest attack. He uses the force to slam the ground creating a shockwave to knock down enemies.
• One hit kill to troops except heavy.

Anakin Skywalker “The Chosen one” (S-Tier)

“This is where the fun begins.” He will bring balance to the force. Anakin is strong with the force. With four abilities, he is a force to be reckoned with. His fourth attack, Retribution, is Anakin’s strongest attack. The ability builds up over time whenever he and his allies are attacked.

Why is Anakin Skywalker a superior hero?

• Only hero that has four abilities
• Only hero with a base health of 800
• One shot to troopers except heavy
• Passionate Strike allows Anakin to deliver a power saber swing dealing damage on the way up and down. And can break through lightsaber blocks
• Heroic might’s range is increased the longer it is held for and cannot be interrupted.

Darth Maul “Be Aggressive” (A-Tier)

“At least I shall have my revenge.” Darth Maul is quick and fierce. His double bladed lightsaber can be thrown with speed and ferocity. Maul’s quickness is quite deadly and is best used to give him space from being surrounded or close the distance from far away opponents. His Choke Hold gives Maul the power to choke an enemy before pushing them away from him. He is the best hero to use to clear out tight hallways

Fun fact: When the game was released Darth Maul did not have a block. But sometime in an April update back in 2019, he received the ability to block attacks. 

Why is Darth Maul a good hero?

• Slightly lower base health of 700
• His speed allows him to get out of tight situations.
• With a certain star card equipped, he can use Spin Attack three times.
• Furious throw does damage on the way back and can be used while in the air.
• Fastest striking lightsaber villain.

Obi-Wan Kenobi “Be Noble” (A-Tier)

“Hello there!” Obi-Wan is the best defensive hero to play as in any game mode. He has the highest stamina of any hero, allowing him to block attacks for a long period of time. Despite being a defensive character, Kenobi has powerful abilities that give him the upper hand in any situation.

Why is Obi-Wan a good hero?

• Base health of 750
• High stamina meaning he can block for a long time without taking any damage.
• Restrictive mind trick stops all abilities from working for a short period of time.
• Defensive Rush can plow through enemies. Deliver a final strike at any time to deal extra damage.
• All-Out push is best used to push his attackers back sending them great distances.

Obi-Wan Kenobi overall power rating: 87/100

 

Kylo Ren “Be Brutal” (A-Tier)

“Do not oppose me.” The master of the Knights of Ren and grandson to Darth Vader, Kylo Ren is the definition of raw power and rage. Using his unique crossguard lightsaber, he dishes out lethal attacks with his blade and has strong force powers, destroying enemies up close.

Why is Kylo Ren a good hero?

• Base health of 750
• Freeze keeps enemies frozen in place for a few seconds, allowing for an easy kill. This can be used in the air
• Pull can reach great distances and knocks players to the ground. It can also be used in the air
• Frenzy is his strongest attack. He leaps forward, swinging his blade with deadly force. 
• Final hit from Frenzy breaks lightsaber blocks

Kylo Ren overall power rating: 85/100

 

Yoda “Be Masterful” (A-Tier)

“Do, or do not. There is no try.” Grand master Yoda. He may be small in size, but he can put up a fight. His size tends to make him hard to hit,  his abilities make him great for defense and offense playing style. Helping out his allies with a bit of health. Size matters not for this powerful Jedi.

Why is Yoda a good hero?

• Slighter lower base health of 700.
• Presence gives him and nearby allies 150 health boost.
• Presence can break any stun locks. Such as Ren’s freeze or Vader’s choke.
• Unleash can absorb blaster fire and force lightning attacks and deals a slight bit of damage when fully charged.
• Dash Attack does damage through lightsaber blocks.

Count Dooku “Be Powerful” (A-Tier)

“I have become more powerful than any Jedi.” The former Jedi turned sith lord Count Dooku, who supervised the creation of the Clone army attacks with his signature curved lightsaber. With elegance and accuracy his abilities give him the upper hand in attacking. So elegant he attacks with one hand behind his back when Duelist is activated.

Why is Count Dooku a good hero?

• Base health of 750
• Lightning stun throws enemies to the ground dealing damage.
• Duelist makes Dooku’s lightsaber attacks faster and powerful.
• Only hero with three dodges without boost cards
• Expose weakness slows your opponent’s movement and removes health regen for a short period. As well as giving the ability an instant recharge if he kills the target affected by this ability

Rey “Be Courageous” (A-Tier)

“I think I can handle myself.” Rey is another hero best played as a defensive hero. Using Anakin and Luke’s old lightsaber, this scavenger, nobody turned into a powerful force user. Her great abilities allow for close combat while using the force to control the outcome in the battlefield.

Why is Rey a good hero?

• Base health of 750
• Her mind trick ability inverts the controls of nearby players giving her the upper hand in attacking.
• Insight can reveal enemies who are hiding allowing for quick flanking.
• Insight gives Rey a reduced stamina cost and increased damage. As well as hiding  herself from enemy radar
• Her Dash Strike can knock down anyone who gets in the way
