10. Akuma

Akuma, final form

Akuma boasts demonic power and can only be unlocked if you beat him in one of the most difficult fight in story mode. This street fighter has sheer raw power going for him and has the biggest guns in any fight. He’s powerful and can be secured early in World of Light.

Strengths/Rating:

• About 8,000 attack stat
• 5,000+ defense stat
• Third highest base power in-game
• Raw power

Best pairings:

• Characters: no character benefits more than others here
• Supports: no support slots

9. Gold Mario 

Gold Mario in all its glory

The best part about Gold Mario is that there are no strings attached. You have super armor. That’s it. That’s the spirit. You’re not even weighed down as expected from other spirits. There are no cons whatsoever. What more could you ask for?

8. Galacta Knight

Galacta Knight, ready to kick some

Galacta Knight can reach about a 13,000 power level, which makes it one of the strongest spirits in World of Light. Anyone who mains a sword fighter will find this spirit very valuable and useful. It will give Akuma a run for his money.

Strengths/Rating:

• 6,500+ attack stat
• 5,500 defense stat
• Second highest base power in-game
• Useful for sword wielders

Best pairings:

• Characters: Cloud, Shulk, Mii Swordfighter, any Link, Fire Emblem characters, and Meta Knight
• Supports: no support slots

7. Maria Renard (Symphony of the Night)

Maria Renard, final form

Maria Renard has fantastic stats and amazing skills. Her strength and defense stats are all-around good. Not to mention, she will give you an extra jump when equipped. Who doesn’t want a better recovery? With 2 support slots, Maria can provide even more abilities.

Strengths/Rating:

• 11,000 base
• 11,000+ attack power
• 5,000+ defense
• Additional midair jump

Best pairings:

• Characters: any floaty character for even more jump, but any character really
• Supports: 3 support slots

6. Keldeo (Resolute Form)

Keldeo, final form

Keldeo is a shield type spirit. It has over 12,000 power, earning its spot in 4 stars. Keldeo has the same hyper smash attack skill as the former spirit and only 1 support slot. Get the 2-star Keldeo earlier in the game and upgrade him as soon as possible.

Strengths/Rating:

• 12,000 attack stat
• Hyper smash attack​

Best pairings:

• Characters: any character that’s already powerful
• Supports: 1 support slot

5. Link

Link, one of the best spirits

Link boasts 3 whole support slots. His skill- sword attack up- boosts all sword attacks. So if you play Fire Emblem characters, this is the spirit for you. He’s a neutral spirit, so he has no bad matchups. Unfortunately, Link isn’t available until you hit a dungeon a little later in the game.

• 4,800 attack stat
• 4,700 defense stat
• Sword Attack Up boosts the power of swords

4. Zelda

Princess Zelda

Zelda will grant the player a chance for a double final smash. Combine that chance with her incredible stats, she is a very useful, over-powered spirit. She can execute any opponents with a quick finish.

• 6,000 defense stat
• 2 support slots
• Grants user chance for double final smash

3. Zygarde (Complete Forme)

Final form of Zygarde

Zygarde is undoubtedly one of the best spirits in World of Light. The maximum power this monster can wield is about 11,850. Not only that, but this spirit has a healing ability. The more damage you absorb, the more it’s going to heal you. This gives you a huge advantage against any opponent

• 5,000 attack stat
• 5,000 defense stat
• Restores health of fighter when damage is high

Best pairings:

• Characters: light characters that tend to die early
• Supports: Metroid, Star Rod

2. Galeem/Dharkon

The great Galeem and Dharkon

Galeem and Dharkon are probably the most talked-about spirits in the entire game. The only way to obtain them is to defeat them, which makes obtaining them more rewarding. When maxed out, these spirits can reach an attack power of 13,640.

• 6,000 defense stat
• Highest base power in the game

1. Soma Cruz

Soma Cruz, the best of them all

Soma Cruz is considered a legend in World of Light. He is one of the best neutral spirits in the game. The only problem is that you have to beat Dracula to obtain him, which can be a challenge. On top of his god-tier stats, he has 3 support slots. If you combine Soma with 3 strong spirits, you can easily have over 15,000 team power ratings.

• 6,275 raw attack power
• 4,734 raw defense power
• Giant Killer ability

Best pairings:

• Characters: any and all characters
• Supports: 3 support slots

• Enter the Dark Realm and head east into the clock ruins
