This list will take you through some of the best custom stages created in SSBU. Some are competitively viable, while others aren’t. There will be trips through time, humor at its finest, and incredibly clever designs. 

15. The Fun Wheel

Don't fall!

This wheel never stops spinning. It's constantly moving, so you have to keep your guard up at all times. This entire stage is based on surviving the stage itself, not KOing your opponent. This deserves a spot for creativity!

• The Fun Wheel is ironically named - sometimes, it’s not fun
• Tests your true aerial abilities
• Part of the fun is seeing who falls off first, rather than KOing

14. FIX Online

Well, did they fix it?

Over 24k people downloaded this bad boy. SSBU online is honestly not that great and has its fair share of problems. It’s known to have lag spikes, so someone went on there and created a stage called ‘Fix Online.’ The fact that it has 24k likes should tell you something.

• Non-moving, simple stages like this are always a plus
• The whole stage is a joke, but actually serious
• Not the best stage to play on, but it’s there for a message we can all get behind

13. DVD Logo

Floating stage

Odds are, you remember this from your childhood, and who doesn’t? I swear the logo touched the corner of the T.V. screen that one time. Major points for nostalgia.

• The logo moves as the old one did
• Great ledges
• Basically Final Destination, but moves a little

12. Smash-Ception

A switch in a switch?

All you have to do is look at this stage. It looks so cool! You’re playing a game in a game?! It even has drifting environmental factors. The cloud and the sun constantly move and there’s lava underneath.

• A gap lets you decide if you would rather play inside or out
• This is very out-of-the-box, in-the-box thinking
• It’s a giant Switch, need I say more?

11. Planets

Mario in a galaxy

This stage reminds me of Super Mario Galaxy. A throwback we can all get behind. The planets are constantly moving and it looks like nice a picture you hang on your fridge. The meteor is coated in lava, so don’t get thrown into it. 

• The sun is on fire - realism points
• No ledges, but there’s a teleporter
• Gives you a great excuse to jump into a canon

10. Attack on Titan

Sie sind das Essen und Wir sind die Jaeger!

Everyone and anyone knows about Attack on Titan. From the novice anime weebs to the veterans. This iconic scene from the anime was made into one of the most creative stages I’ve ever seen. I expected the head to be stagnant, but it moves!

• Head in the background moves
• The hand is on fire which is kind of accurate with the actual titan
• The only thing that’d make this better is if the hand could grab and squash you

9. Smashket Ball

You shoot, you score!

No wonder why it’s called Smashket Ball. Players are basically ragdolls and the ‘basketballs’ the whole time. The ‘net’ could be the multiple canons lined up and all you gotta do is smash your opponent into them.

•  The music is bomb
• Cannons can spike for you
• Basketball in the center is a nice touch

8. Battle Bus

Battle on the bus 

Anyone who likes or plays Fortnite will like this stage. Even if you don’t, try it out. It’s very entertaining. This bus takes you to different areas in Fortnite, similar to Delfino Plaza. Points for creativity!

• You fall, you die, and don’t have a parachute to save you
• Different environments despite being on a bus
• Who doesn’t like Fortnite?

7. Version 3.0

The 'x' at the center completes this stage

Everyone was waiting for the SSBU 3.0 version to come out. When it finally did, not everyone was able to get the download. This stage is a tribute to those fallen players and to bring humor during that dark time. It reminds me of when the servers crashed because everyone was trying to download Joker at the same time. 

• ‘X’ in front shows you cannot download this version
• Classic logo in the background
• A hilarious joke that can be used competitively since it’s stagnant 

6. Sonic 1 Title

Sonic, taunting you 

Yet another classic. This is real life artwork that was transformed into SSBU. Unfortunately, Sonic doesn’t go fast, he’s stagnant aside from his slow finger.

• Great throwback stage
• It’s Sonic, hello?
• The finger wags and you can dash under it! 

5. Tetris

Classic

Growing up, I played Tetris relentlessly. It’s very cool how someone was able to replicate an ancient game into another legendary game. On top of that, there’s lava at the top that can KO the opponent for you!

• Tetris blocks don’t fall on top of you, they float in the background
• Very cool design and worth checking out
• Nostalgic 

4. Bob-omb B. Field

A dose of nostalgia

When we were younger, Super Mario 64 was the hottest, new thing. Everyone wanted to play it. The stages were so big (or so we thought). And it was a joy to control, watching Mario do all his flips and then yell when he slammed into a wall.

• Classic music
• Chain Chomp is there to do some damage
• Cannon throws you directly into Chain Chomp

3. Kirby has a gun?

This is hilarious. You can’t tell me this isn’t funny. Why is this not a meme? Or maybe it was and I missed it? Either way, this is definitely in the top 3. Can you imagine Kirby with a gun? Run for your lives.

• Those eyes are saying ‘kill me’ or ‘I’mma kill you’
• The hand is giant and tilts the gun like Kirby will shoot any second
• Lava at the end of the gun

2. Beeg Beeg Yoshi

Big, big Yoshi!

Look at it. Have you ever seen such a masterpiece in your life? It’s Yoshi, but chonker version. What makes this stage great is how Yoshi is looking down at the players. Either he wants to be killed, or wants to kill them.

1. Smash64 Desk FIX

Where it all began

Let’s take you back in time again. Super Smash Bros on Nintendo 64 feels like forever ago. This desk is the one Mario woke up on. Another character is thrown out of a chest and thrown over. This desk is the desk where it all started.

• Attention to detail is great
• Part of the best introduction to one of the best games of all time
• The desk was never playable, until now
