[Top 10] R6 Best Support Operators

R6 Siege Top 10 Best Support Operators
The ten best operators when it comes supporting teammates in Rainbow Siege’s Year 8 Season 2.3

10. Glaz (Intel, Support)

Glaz is one of the best support operators in the game, more specifically he provides medium to long-range support. That’s mainly because of his primary weapon which also happens to contain his special gadget, the Flip Sight. The Flip Sight is the sight of his OTs-03 designated marksman rifle and it’s called the flip sight because it can be switched from a 1.0x sight to a 4.0x thermal sight. This thermal sight is very unique and powerful in Siege because it allows the user to highlight enemies in a bright yellow hue and easily differentiate them from all the objects and backdrops in the game.

Of course, this greatly improves the accuracy and responsiveness of the user. Since it’s a thermal sight, it will also allow the user to see enemies through smoke or Sens’ R.O.U. Projector System. So when his teammates are on the frontline and pushing, Glaz can provide the much-needed long-range support with his OTs-03 which also inflicts high damage per shot and can down an enemy with just a few shots. And since he has access to 4.0x zoom and thermal sight, Glaz isn’t only great at fragging enemies, he’s also great at providing intel to his teammates.

What Makes Glaz Great for Support:

  • With his OTs-03 designated marksman rifle, Glaz is a medium to long-range shooting menace as it has a 4.0x thermal scope which allows him to see enemies very clearly even through smoke
  • Because Glaz has access to a 4.0x thermal scope, he’s not only great at fragging enemies from medium to long-range, he’s also great at providing intel for his teammates
  • Due to the thermal 4.0x scope on his OTs-03 designated marksman rifle, Glaz can provide a great medium to long-range support while his teammates are pushing with smoke grenades
  • Glaz’s gonne-6 hand cannon adds a lot to his support capabilities as it allows him to disable a pesky bulletproof defender gadget like an Evil Eye, a Banshee, or a deployable shield

9. Jager (Anti-Gadget, Support)

Jager is one of the best support operators in the game and his special gadget is almost essential in most defense rounds in Siege. That’s because his special gadget, the ADS-MKIV "Magpie" or just ADS for short, intercepts and neutralizes attacker projectiles or throwables. So when Thatcher is banned and the attackers are trying to disable the hard breach preventing devices that defenders have with the use of frag grenades, Jager’s ADS is the best utility for preventing that. That’s because Jager’s ADS completely destroys enemy projectiles that they intercept in the air.

Even when defenders don’t really need Jager’s ADS for protecting hard breach-prevention utilities, they are extremely useful for defense in general. That’s because with Jager’s ADS, it won’t be easy for attackers to kill defenders with frag grenades. It also won’t be easy for attackers to push after leading with smoke or stun grenades because Jager’s ADS will intercept and destroy them midair. His choices for his generic gadget, the observation blocker and the bulletproof camera, are also great utilities when it comes to overall team support.

What Makes Jager Great for Support:

  • His special gadget, the ADS-MKIV "Magpie", intercepts attacker projectiles and throwables and destroys them midair, preventing them from causing harm to defenders or their utilities
  • Because his ADS special gadget completely destroys attacker projectiles or throwables midair, it makes them the best support in preventing attackers from destroying hard breach preventing devices
  • He has access to three observation blockers per round and they’re great for preventing attackers from gathering intel through their drones as well as rendering Kludge and Shock Drones ineffective
  • Jager also has access to the bulletproof camera which is a great support utility as it provides another way for defenders to gather intel and it can shoot EMP lasers that disable enemy electronic devices

8. Azami (Anti-Entry, Support)

Azami can provide more cover for her and her teammates in order to protect themselves better, and that makes her one of the best support defenders in the game. She does that through her special gadget, the Kiba Barrier, in which she has five of. The Kiba Barriers are bulletproof and are only destroyed by three melee attacks, Sledge’s Tactical Hammer, or explosive projectiles. Her Kiba Barriers allow Azami to fortify important angles that can leave defenders vulnerable. One good example of that are the walls that are important for defenders to protect from being breached.

That’s because usually, Bandit or Kaid will be focusing on their tricks on that wall’s spot in order to prevent attackers from breaching, and that could leave them vulnerable to flankers. With Azami’s Kiba Barriers, she can protect them from enemy gunfire. The Kiba Barrier can also be used for blocking commonly used drone holes on or near the objective spot in order to prevent attacker drones from gathering intel. Azami’s Kiba Barriers are so useful, especially in the higher ranks where players know very well the spots for pre-firing, because with the Kiba Barriers, Azami can provide cover on the usual pre-fire spots and surprise attackers.

What Makes Azami Great for Support:

  • She provides more protection for her and her teammates through her Kiba Barriers which are bulletproof and are excellent additional covers in order for defenders to protect themselves better
  • She can prevent hard breach devices from being destroyed by frag grenades through drone holes by blocking them with her Kiba Barriers
  • She can also prevent attackers from gathering more intel on the defenders or their utilities by using her Kiba Barriers to block drone holes near the objective spot
  • Azami can put up Kiba Barriers on common angles or spots that attackers pre-fire and that could surprise the attacker and make them vulnerable to a counterattack from the defenders

7. Castle (Anti-Entry, Support)

Speaking of providing cover, Castle is another operator that is great when it comes to that. Although it can be argued that his special gadget, the Armor Panel, is not as versatile as Azami’s Kiba Barriers above, they provide protection for the defending team in another kind of way. Basically, Castle’s Armor Panels are the fortified version of the normal barricaded doors or windows. Castle can replace them with his Armor Panels and he can also place his Armor Panels on many entryways that don't have any barricade by default. He has four Armor Panels and all of them are bulletproof.

It also takes nine melee hits in order to destroy them, so they’re much tougher than Azami’s Kiba Barriers. Aside from the nine melee hits, attackers can destroy them with Sledge’s Tactical Breaching Hammer, or with utilities that explode. With his Armor Panels, Castle provides a lot of support to the defending team because he can fortify weak or exposed areas with them. A good example of that is the objective spot on the top floor of Bank. It has a lot of windows so it can be vulnerable from outside, but with Castle’s Armor Panels, it becomes so much more defensible.

What Makes Castle Great for Support:

  • With his special gadget, the Armor Panel, he can fortify weak or exposed spots, as he can use them to replace barricaded windows and doors with bulletproof ones
  • Since the best way for destroying Castle’s Armor Panels is to use explosive utilities on them, Castle is one of the operators that can really make attackers use up their utilities
  • It takes nine melee hits for Castle’s Armor Panel to be destroyed and that can take a lot of time, so attackers with no explosive utilities usually take a different path of attack when an Armor Panel blocks their way
  • Castle is one of the operators that can equip a shotgun for their secondary weapon, and that’s a really great perk to have for a support operator as it allows them to rework the map to their team’s advantage

6. Thatcher (Anti-Gadget, Support)

If Jager in one of the above entries is a great support operator because his special gadget intercepts and destroys attacker utilities that can destroy hard breach preventing utilities, Thatcher is sort of the opposite. That’s because his special gadget, the EMP Grenades, disables defender electronics within a wide radius. That makes him the best operator when it comes to enabling hard breaching, and Jager’s ADS won’t be able to stop the EMP Grenades from their job because the effects of their EMP blasts passes through walls, so chances are, even Jager’s ADS will be disabled.

Thatcher is a great support operator because through him, the attacking team has a high chance of being able to breach important walls or hatches, and when those are breached, it brings the attackers much closer to victory. Because that will provide another path of attack for the attackers, and when the team is organized with flankers, the defenders will have too much on their hands. Thatcher can also bring in two claymores per round and they are great support utilities as they’re very effective at countering roamers, flankers, and run outs.

What Makes Thatcher Great for Support:

  • Thatcher’s EMP Grenades are the most effective utilities in the game when it comes to enabling attackers to hard breach as they can easily disable hard breach preventing devices
  • Thatcher’s EMP Grenades are great for disabling defending utilities, not just anti-breach ones, as they have a wide range, and will disable any enemy electronics within their radius
  • With Thatcher around, the attacking team can easily breach a wall or hatch, as well as get rid of pesky defender electronic gadgets, and that’s why he’s such a great support operator
  • Thatcher also has access to two claymores per round and they’re some of the best support utilities in the game as they’re great for countering roamers, flankers, and run outs

5. Doc (Support)

Sadly, a lot of players, especially in solo queue, do not use Doc much as a support operator. Rather, they’d reserve his heals for themselves. But when used by a good player, Doc is undoubtedly one of the best support operators around. With his special gadget, the Stim Pistol, he can shoot three healing stims, and each of them heals two hundred health points. They can even overheal a teammate way past their normal max health points and those extra health points will stay with them for several seconds. Doc can inject his healing stims into himself as well which is a good way to toughen himself up before a gunfight.

Another great thing about Doc’s healing stims is that they will revive operators who are in a down-but-not-out state, and since they’re shot from the Stim Pistol, Doc can revive his teammates from a distance, provided that he has good aim of course. Now while I strongly recommend Doc players to play him more for support, it can’t be denied that he’s a great spawn killer too. That’s because in case he gets put into a down-but-not-out state, he can just simply revive himself with his Stim Pistol, plus, both his P90 and MP5 submachine guns are great weapons for long-range shooting.

What Makes Doc Great for Support:

  • He can shoot three healing stims from his special gadget, the Stim Pistol, and each of them heals two hundred health points which can also overheal a teammate past their normal max health points
  • Any operator who’s in a down-but-not-out state will be revived from it when they’re hit by a healing stim from Doc’s Stim Pistol, and with that, he can easily revive teammate from a distance
  • When he’s expecting an engagement with enemies, he can toughen himself up by overhealing himself with a Stim Pistol, allowing him to have way more health points than he normally does
  • Doc can quickly reduce the number of enemies at the beginning of the round with his spawn peeking capabilities, and if he gets put in a down-but-not-out state, he can just simply revive himself

4. Solis (Intel, Support)

Solis is a great support defender because she can do so much when it comes to disabling enemy electronic gadgets and providing much needed intel to her teammates. That’s because her special gadget, the SPEC-IO Electro Sensor, allows her to detect enemy electronic gadgets in real time. What’s great is that she can perform a cluster scan on the attacker electronic gadgets she’s detected, and that cluster scan will show her teammates their locations. So even if the Solis player is playing on solo queue and not on voice comms with her teammates, she’ll find it easy to share intel with them.

With Solis in the defending team, it’ll be very hard for the attackers to leave behind drones for surveillance as her SPEC-IO Electro Sensor has a pretty long range. This makes her such a great support operator as she’s basically preventing enemies from gathering intel on the whole defending team. So not only does she provide much needed intel to her teammates, she’s great at denying intel to her enemies as well. Both her choices for her generic gadget, the impact grenades and bulletproof camera, are also great support utilities.

What Makes Solis Great for Support:

  • Her SPEC-IO Electro Sensor allows her to detect enemy electronic gadgets in real time, and with that, she’s able to effectively disable them, especially their drones
  • Another great thing about her SPEC-IO Electro Sensor is that she can perform cluster scans with it, and that will share the current locations of the enemy electronic devices she’s detected
  • Since she can detect enemy electronics in real time with her SPEC-IO Electro Sensor, she can prevent them from being effective, especially intel gathering ones like cameras and drones
  • Her choices for her generic gadget, the impact grenades and bulletproof camera, are also great for support as one can be used to rework the map and the other provides another way for defenders to gather intel

3. Thunderbird (Support)

Like Doc in one of the above entries, Thunderbird is one of the operators that are able to provide a lot of healing to the defending team, and with Thunderbird, even if the player is focusing on fragging enemies, she’ll still be able to provide a lot of support. That’s because her special gadget, the Kona Station, can be all deployed during the prep phase, and defenders who need healing only need to get close to one of them and as long as they’re not on cooldown, they’ll receive a heal of thirty health points. Thunderbird has three Kona Stations and they’re always great to have in any defending round.

Not only does Thunderbird’s Kona Stations provide healing, any defender who’s in a down-but-not-out state can also revive themselves when they’re in the radius of a Kona Station. This is why Thunderbird is such a great support. All she has to do is to deploy her Kona Stations in strategic spots in the objective spot, and team members who need healing and a revival from a down-but-not-out state can just go over them. This allows Thunderbird to completely focus on engaging enemies and providing other forms of support.

What Makes Thunderbird Great for Support:

  • Each of her three Kona Stations can provide thirty health points heal per cooldown and Thunderbird can finish deploying all of them within the prep phase and she can focus on other things
  • Each of Thunderbird’s Kona Stations can also provide revival from a down-but-not-out state provided that the operator is within their radius
  • Since all three of Thunderbird’s Kona Stations can be deployed within the prep phase, she can concentrate on doing other things like engaging enemies or providing support to her teammates in other ways
  • Her bulletproof camera is another great support utility in her arsenal as it provides defenders with another camera that offers a wide view and can shoot EMP blasts that disables enemy electronic gadgets

2. Finka (Front Line, Support)

Finka is the only attacker that can provide healing for her whole team, including her, and that’s why she’s a great support attacker. With her Adrenal Surge which she can activate three times, she can provide healing for the whole attacking team, as well as great buffs that’ll make them more effective. Those buffs include more resistance to blind effects and tinnitus, faster reload speed, being able to walk over barbed wires faster, and more resistance to the fear effects of Fenrir’s Dread mines. Concussion effects will also be removed when the Adrenal Surge is activated.

Another reason why Finka is a great support attacker is that her Adrenal Surge can provide revival from a down-but-not-out state and its effects are global. That means that no matter how far Finka is from her teammates, she’ll be able to revive them with her Adrenal Surge if they’re in a down-but-not-out state. And now that she can activate her Adrenal Surge even when she herself is in a down-but-not-out state, she’s really an offensive menace who can also provide a lot of support to her teammates. Finka also has access to the gonne-6 hand cannon which is a great support utility as it allows Finka to destroy a very troublesome bulletproof defender gadget.

What Makes Finka Great for Support:

  • Through her Adrenal Surge, she’s the only attacker that can provide healing for herself and her entire team, and she can activate it three times so she can provide plenty of healing
  • She can also revive herself and her teammates with her Adrenal Surge anywhere she is on the map as its effects are global, and the revived defenders will have thirty health points
  • Finka also provides a plethora of great buffs like more resistance to tinnitus, blind effects, and the fear effects of Fenrir’s Dread Mines, as well as being able to walk over barbed wires faster, and faster reload
  • Upon activation of Finka’s Adrenal Surge, concussion effects from Ela’s Grzmot Mines or Echo’s Yokai Drones will be removed, which is always a great perk to have while pushing

1. Rook (Support)

Rook is one of the best support operators one could play in defense because like Thunderbird, his support special gadget, the Armor Pack, can be deployed within the prep phase, and after it’s been deployed, he can just focus on other things. In fact, his special gadget deployment is so simple that it can be finished with just one press of the special gadget button. Once he’s deployed his Armor Pack, he automatically equips the armor plate from it, and his teammates can get their own armor plates as well. The armor plates provide more health points which makes them tougher.

Aside from making defenders who are wearing them tougher, Rook’s armor plates also provide them with the ability to self-revive from a down-but-not-out state. That’s a really great perk to have because that means that all five of the defending team members will be tougher to take down while they’ll also be able to self-revive. Rook also has access to great support utilities like the proximity alarm which are great early warning devices, impact grenades which are great for reworking the map, and the observation blocker which is an excellent intel denial device.

What Makes Rook Great for Support:

  • The armor plates from his Armor Pack provides the members of the defending team with more health points, effectively making them tougher to take down with non-headshot shots
  • Rook’s armor plates have been reworked and now, they provide operators who are wearing them with the ability to self-revive from a down-but-not out state
  • Rook’s proximity alarm adds a lot to his support capabilities because with them on entrances or flanking spots, the defending team will have good warning devices when enemies are coming
  • His impact grenades are also great utilities for support as it’ll allow him to create rotation holes on unreinforced walls. His observation blockers are also great for support as they block intel from enemy drones
