[Top 5] Rainbow 6 Siege Best Rook Loadouts That Are Excellent

Top 5 Best Rook Loadouts in R6 Siege
The best five loadouts for effectively playing one of the best buff providers in Rainbow Six Siege

Rook’s pick rate was already considerably good before, but now it’s experiencing a great rise. That’s because of the most recent buff on his special gadget, the Armor Plates. Previously, it only added more health to his teammates, but now it also provides them the ability to revive themselves from a down-but-not-out state. This is a really great buff for Rook who has always been one of the most underrated operators in the game. And in this article, we’re going to discuss the best loadout setups for players to try when they’re playing this defensive menace.

5. SG-CQB with Reflex B and Vertical Grip + P9 with Suppressor + Proximity Alarm

For Rook players who love using shotguns and want to take advantage of its close-range superiority combined with Rook’s heavy armor rating which is even supplemented by his Armor Plates. With this loadout setup, Rook is going to be a defensive menace at close quarters combat. That’s because the SG-CQB packs one hell of a punch per shot and can take an enemy out with just one shot at close range. Its vertical grip will let the user fire at enemies continuously while keeping the shotgun’s vertical recoil down. That means it will be easier for the player to stabilize his aim for the next shot.

The Reflex B is generally the best sight for shotguns like the SG-CQB because its main frame doesn’t take up a lot of screen space, and that makes it perfect for close quarters combat. For this loadout, since the SG-CQB can be used as a utility for creating rotation holes and lines of sight, it’s best to run with the proximity alarm. With the proximity alarm as Rook’s generic gadget, he can make sure that the defending team won’t get caught off-guard from two angles or pathways. The suppressed P9 on the other hand would be great when the player needs to flank and has to shoot attacker drones or claymore without alerting the enemies to his whereabouts.

Excels in:

  • Close range superiority due to the SG-CQB's heavy damage per pellet
  • Recoil control on the SG-CQB because of its vertical grip attachment
  • Being able to see enemies on the front and on the sides clearly due to the Reflex B’s small frame
  • Being able to shoot attacker gadgets without giving away Rook’s position because of suppressed P9 handgun
  • Intel gathering capabilities due to the presence of two proximity alarms in Rook’s arsenal

Build Details:

  • Primary weapon - SG-CQB with Reflex B and Vertical Grip
  • Secondary weapon - P9 with Suppressor
  • Generic gadget - Proximity Alarm

4. P90 with Scope 1.5x and Extended Barrel + P9 with Suppressor + Impact Grenade

For players who prefer the P90 over the MP5 and want to have its damage output and potential maximized. This loadout setup puts an extended barrel on the P90 which will greatly lower its range damage drop-off. This is great for the P90 because its biggest drawback is its low damage. But with the extended barrel, the user can be sure that he’ll be inflicting good damage to enemies regardless of range. Another small drawback with the P90 is that the highest level of zoom available to it is from the scope 1.5x, but for Rook’s role as an anchor, it’s actually a great scope.

That’s because as an operator who would mostly have to stay in or near the objective spot due to his slow speed, he would mostly be engaging enemies at close to medium range, and the scope 1.5x is great for that. It will provide a good amount of zoom while also still providing a wide peripheral view to the player. As for the generic gadget, the impact grenade is a great utility for Rook because it will allow him to create rotation holes in the objective spot so that the defenders can flank attackers or respond to them easier when they’re pushing.

Excels in:

  • Maximizing the damage potential of the P90 because of the extended barrel attachment
  • Having a good balance between zoom levels and peripheral view due to the scope 1.5x on the P90
  • Having great stability while shooting due to the P90’s inherently low recoil
  • Being able to flank and shoot enemy gadgets without alerting them due to the suppressed P9 handgun
  • Having the ability to create rotation or escape holes because of the two impact grenades in Rook’s arsenal

Build Details:

  • Primary weapon - P90 with Scope 1.5x and Extended Barrel
  • Secondary weapon - P9 with Suppressor
  • Generic gadget - Impact Grenade

3. MP5 with Scope 2.0x, Extended Barrel, and Vertical Grip + P9 with Suppressor + Impact Grenade

This loadout setup is for Rook players who prefer maximizing their damage potential in every shot that they make. The MP5 is Rook’s best fully-automatic weapon when it comes to damage and the extended barrel will make that even better because it will greatly reduce its range damage drop-off. That means Rook will be inflicting heavy damage on enemies regardless of range, and that’s perfect for the scope 2.0x which will provide Rook with a high level of zoom that will allow him to see his enemies better.

And since your primary weapon on this loadout doesn’t have a suppressor, it’s best to attach it on your handgun instead. That way, when you’re flanking and do not want to give away your position to enemies, you can use the suppressed P9 for shooting attacker drones or claymores silently. This will lessen the chances of your enemies knowing where you’re going to come from. And don’t worry, because the P9 has a very manageable recoil even without any barrel attachment that provides additional recoil control benefits.

Excels in:

  • Greatly reducing the range damage drop-off of the MP5 due to its extended barrel attachment
  • Being able to target enemies well at medium to long range because of the scope 2.0x
  • Effectively managing the vertical recoil of the MP5 due to the vertical grip attachment
  • Having the ability to rework the map to the defending team’s advantage because of the impact grenades
  • Being able to sneak behind enemies and shoot their utilities like claymores without alerting them due to the suppressed P9

Build Details:

  • Primary weapon - MP5 with Scope 2.0x, Extended Barrel, and Vertical Grip
  • Secondary weapon - P9 with Suppressor
  • Generic gadget - Impact Grenade

2. P90 with Scope 1.5x and Suppressor + LFP586 with Laser + Impact Grenade

The P90 is one of the guns in Siege that has been largely slept on for a very long time but since Operation Brutal Swarm came, its pick rate has risen. That’s mostly because of the rework on the suppressors taking away their damage penalty on weapons, and that makes it perfect for weapons like the P90 that doesn’t have a strong stock recoil to begin with. With the suppressor, the user can enjoy great stealth benefits like being able to shoot enemies without giving away his position while also not worrying too much about not having a recoil-providing barrel attachment.

The P90 has a very fast rate of fire at 970 rpm and despite that, its recoil is actually easier to manage than the MP5. It also has a larger magazine capacity and that means you’ll have less chances of having to reload while in the middle of a gunfight. This is why while I still prefer the MP5 over the P90 as Rook’s primary weapon, there’s no denying that it has become a lot more viable as his primary now and so you must have been noticing a lot of Rook users using it nowadays. It also has the scope 1.5x available to it and it’s a very good sight for Rook since he would mostly have to engage enemies at close to medium range.

Excels in:

  • Ability to shoot enemies with the P90 without providing them a directional threat indicator of where your shots are coming from
  • Reducing the chances of enemies knowing your position due to the P90’s gunshot sounds
  • Removal of the P90’s muzzle flash will lessen the chances of enemies seeing you because of it
  • Heavy damage per shot on the LFP586 is perfect for finishing enemies off when the P90 needs to reload in the middle of a gunfight
  • Tight hip fire with the LFP586 because of the laser
  • Ability to create rotation or escape holes due to the impact grenades in Rook’s arsenal

Build Details:

  • Primary weapon - P90 with Scope 1.5x and Suppressor
  • Secondary weapon - LFP586 with Laser
  • Generic gadget - Impact Grenade

1. MP5 with Scope 2.0x, Suppressor, and Vertical Grip + LFP586 with Laser + Impact Grenade

Even with the recent big recoil progression overhaul that happened in the game which dropped last season in Operation Brutal Swarm that made it harder to control the recoil of long sprays, one could empty a whole clip of the MP5 and while still managing its recoil very well. And because of that, the suppressor is the best barrel attachment for it. Despite not adding any recoil control benefit on the MP5, the weapon would remain quite easy to control, as evidenced by the screenshot below on its recoil test in the shooting range.

And the MP5 takes the number one spot as Rook’s best primary weapon despite the P90 being a very good choice as well. That’s because of its higher damage and the availability of the scope 2.0x as one of its sight attachments. With the scope 2.0x, it would be much easier for the Rook player to perform spawn peeks and overall targeting would be better because of its high zoom levels without really sacrificing so much on peripheral view. As for his secondary weapon, the LFP586’s heavy damage makes it great for finishing enemies off when Rook needs to reload his MP5 in the middle of a gun fight.

Excels in:

  • Being able to see enemies well even at long-range due to the scope 2.0x on the MP5
  • Being able to shoot enemies with the MP5 without giving them a directional threat indicator of where you’re shooting them from
  • Excellent recoil control on the MP5 due to the vertical grip attachment
  • Ability to rework the map – create rotation or escape holes with the impact grenades
  • Heavy damage and high destruction profile from the LFP86 handgun makes it great for finishing off enemies or for creating lines of sight

Build Details:

  • Primary weapon - MP5 with Scope 2.0x, Suppressor, and Vertical Grip
  • Secondary weapon - LFP586 with Laser
  • Generic gadget - Impact Grenade
