We all know GTA 5 is much more fun on the PC as it is on consoles (don’t hate me, I was a console peasant for the longest time until I saved up enough money for a gaming computer).

My first GTA 5 playthrough was on the Xbox 360, when I played it on the PC after a few years, it felt like another game entirely! You know why? No, it’s not because of the graphics enhancements or First-person mode (because they were applied to the then-next-gen consoles too).

Any guesses? No? Read the title; Cause of the Mods! Mods have always been a part of the grand theft auto series, while some might argue that Skyrim popularised modding in games but that isn’t so. The people who claim such have obviously not rode Thomas the tank engine in GTA San Andreas to kill officer Tenpenny and it shows.

The community has created amazing GTA 5 mods so let’s take a look at the top 15 GTA 5 mods that’ll make you fall in love with the game all over again.

1) Redux Mod

Rockstar has not released a shred of news for GTA 6, but does that stop the gamer’s community to shut up and continue on replaying GTA 5 for the billionth time? Not really! If Rockstar isn’t giving us GTA 6, we’ll make GTA 5 into GTA 6! 

I don’t know about us, but the guys behind Redux did it. The Redux mod is a well-known graphics overhaul mod of GTA 5. The creators have enhanced the textures and formulated such realism in the mod that makes it unbelievable.

If you’re tired of the standard three third-person camera settings and one first-person camera setting, then this is the mod for you. With the extended camera settings mod in GTA 5, you can view your character from a never-before-seen angle. It makes the game much more enjoyable and you can have a different view of the game you love.

3) 4K Satellite View Map

If you are not a fan of the simple GTA 5 map in the menu, you can download the 4K Satellite View Map. GTA 5 came out at a time when maps weren’t that good looking. Compare Farcry 5’s map to GTA 5’s and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

For those looking with enhanced lighting in the game can opt for this mod. The Clean N’ Natural mod is not really a graphics overhaul like the Redux mod; it’s more of a lighting effect overhaul of the game which gives off the impression that overall graphics has enhanced.

5) Dismemberment/Gore

Where my Dooms fans at?! With the dismemberment/Gore mod, cut off limbs and decapitate people in GTA 5. It’s not like Rockstar is against gore – they included detailed dismemberment in Red Dead Redemption 2, but this mod is a gore overhaul. Don’t download it if you can bear the sight of intestines and excessive blood, but psychopaths like me will quite enjoy it.

Many people praise GTA IV over GTA 5 only because of the gameplay physics and unrealistic ragdolls in GTA 5. Thanks to the modders community, you can get the GTA IV Ragdoll in GTA 5 but even more enhanced than GTA IV! 7) NaturalVision Mod    

If you’re one of the people who are dissatisfied with the weather in GTA 5, then this mod is for you (provided your PC can handle it). The NaturalVision mod is pretty GPU demanding, but it overhauls the dynamics of weather changes in the game and highly enhances the effect of GTA 5 weather.

8) Ripplers Realism

This overhauling mod is based mostly around weapons textures and effects. If you want to enhance grenade explosions, gun recoil and gun textures download and install the Ripplers Realism mod right now. 

In this mod, you’ll have enhanced gun physics and gunshot sounds that make you double check where that sound came from (unless your country is currently at-war, then you really need to take a look out the window).

9) Psychokinetic Mod

I’ve always admired a game that provides users the ability to use psychokinetic abilities like telekinesis, telepathy etc. I really wish they would release Psy-ops 2 with modern graphics but similar gameplay. Till that happens, I’m downloading and installing the Psychokinetic mod in GTA 5 and sending cop cars flying with the power of my mind… or keyboard.

10) Spider-Man Mod

Superhero mods are fairly popular in not only GTA 5 but the GTA series overall. I remember Ironman and Superman mods of GTA San Andreas while GTA 5 has a plethora of superhero mods. Until Sony finally releases PS-exclusive Spiderman on PCs, download and install the Spiderman mod on GTA 5 and swing all around San-Andreas.

11) Open All Interiors

Don’t you just hate it when a game dictates where you can and cannot go? The Open All Interiors mod will make sure no one stops you from following that NPC to a building where you weren’t allowed entrance. 

Although there is not much to be seen inside buildings that have no access, it's still liberating that no one is dictating where you can and cannot go. It is also a great mod if you want to revisit places from the story missions.

We asked Rockstar multiple times for a remaster of the old masterpieces, they didn’t respond but the modders community did! Get the Vice City Overhaul mod for GTA 5 and get in the shoes of Tommy Vercetti once again! Roam the streets of Miami… I mean Vice City, in this GTA 5 Vice City Overhaul mod. This mod is bound to strike some nostalgic moments if you were a fan of the original game.

The forests of San Andreas not feeling lush enough? We all have to agree Rockstar got a bit lazy in the tree and grass rendering. Thanks to the Forests of San Andreas Mod, you can summon beautiful forests throughout the city. Although GTA was never a split-screen multiplayer game, there's no limit to modding! The two-player mod provides you with multiple characters in a split-screen setting so you and your friends can play together on the same system! This mod is highly demanding so be prepared for some weird noises from your PC, or if you’re an AMD fanboy, you can roast marshmallows with your buddies when the PC gets overheated.

Conclusion:

GTA 5 can be modded in a thousand ways, thanks to Rockstar’s open-mindedness to the modding community, the GTA playthrough can be enhanced to a thousand thanks to mods. 

One important thing to note though; You can’t play GTA online with active mods as that portion of the game involves other players too, so any mod affecting your money and RP can be plain injustice to other users, so it’s quite understandable on Rockstar’s part.
