[Top 5] Rainbow 6 Siege Best Grim Loadouts That Are Excellent

Top 5 Best Grim Loadouts in R6 Siege
An up-to-date take on the best loadouts for Grim in Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 8 Season 1

Grim is one of the newest operators in Siege and I already wrote an article featuring his best loadouts around the time he was released. However, since then, the devs have made a lot of changes to the attachments in the game, and they’ve made some specific changes for Grim’s loadouts.

That’s because after his addition to the game, Grim’s pick-rate has been lower than expected, but the devs, as well as myself, am confident that the recent improvements to the attachments in the game and the specific changes to his loadouts will make him a more popular operator, because seriously, he’s one of most solid operators in the game.

5. SG-CQB with Reflex B and Vertical Grip + P229 with Suppressor and Laser + Claymore

Most players, including me, find it hard to use shotguns as their primary weapons. That’s because they’re not fully automatic, and they have a limited range. However, that shouldn’t discourage players from trying out the SG-CQB shotgun for Grim as their primary, especially since it complements his role well. With the SG-CQB shotgun, Grim would be able to destroy portions of wooden floors above objective spots, and that would allow him to deploy his Kawan Hives to the objective spot from above, effectively gathering intel on enemy positions below or flushing them out from their entrenched positions.

Grim can deploy up to five Kawan Hives, and when an opponent gets inside their area of effect, that opponent would get pinged in real-time for several seconds. So for Grim to be able to deploy his Kawan Hive canisters on the usual angles that defenders hold is to either effectively gather intel on them, or to deny them that area for several seconds. And while Grim is performing this vertical play that would surely cause a lot of distraction to the defenders, he will have two claymores protecting him from roamers that would try to get him from behind or from the sides.

Excels in:

  • Having the superiority in close quarters combat due to the SG-CQB shotgun's heavy damage per pellet
  • Being able to destroy portions of wooden floors above objective spots with the use of the SG-CQB shotgun
  • Having a great vertical recoil control on Grim’s SG-CQB shotgun with the use of the vertical grip attachment
  • Being able to shoot defender cameras, traps, or other gadgets with much less risk of alerting the enemies with the use of the suppressed P229 handgun
  • Countering roamers, flankers, and run outs with the use of the two claymores in Grim’s generic gadget slot

Build Details:

  • Primary weapon - SG-CQB with Reflex B and Vertical Grip
  • Secondary weapon - P229 with Suppressor and Laser
  • Generic gadget - Claymore

4. 552 Commando with Scope 2.0x, Compensator, and Angled Grip + P229 with Suppressor and Laser + Breach Charge

Rejoice compensator fans because this barrel attachment will be receiving a huge buff in Siege’s Year 8 Season 1, making its horizontal and random recoil from all directions control much higher, from 15% up to 35%. Even with the previous 15%, the compensator already provides a lot of stability to weapons, and that generally results in a more stable overall firing experience, especially when it comes to longer sprays. With the compensator as the barrel attachment for Grim’s 552 Commando, its propensity for horizontal and random recoil from all directions would be much less.

The great thing about Grim’s 552 Commando is that its stock recoil isn’t really that hard to control, so the player can just rely on one recoil control providing attachment instead of two. For this loadout setup’s case, the one that’ll be providing the recoil control is the compensator barrel attachment, while the angled grip will be providing speed. With the angled grip, Grim will be able to go to aim-down-sights stance faster, and that’s great for him since due to his role, there’s always a big chance for a sudden encounter with enemies.

Excels in:

  • Greatly reducing the 552 Commando’s propensity for horizontal and random recoil from all directions with the use of the compensator barrel attachment
  • Being able to go into aim-down-sights faster with Grim’s 552 Commando with the use of the angled grip attachment
  • Providing Grim with a great amount of zoom level through the scope 2.0x on his 552 Commando
  • Being able to shoot defender gadgets with much less risk of giving away your position with the use of the suppressed P229 handgun
  • Creating entry points on unreinforced walls and being able to perform vertical plays with the use of the breach charges

Build Details:

  • Primary weapon - 552 Commando with Scope 2.0x, Compensator, and Angled Grip
  • Secondary weapon - P229 with Suppressor and Laser
  • Generic gadget - Breach Charge

3. 552 Commando with Scope 2.0x, Flash Hider, and Angled Grip + P229 with Suppressor and Laser + Claymore

The flash hider barrel attachment specializes in lowering the vertical recoil of weapons, and that’s a great attachment to have for the 552 Commando whose recoil is mostly just vertical recoil with not much tendency for horizontal and random recoil from all directions. So this loadout setup offers a great balance between lowering the vertical recoil of Grim’s 552 Commando, while the angled grip attachment will allow Grim to go into aim-down-sights stance faster than normal, which is always a great perk to have in Siege where enemies could appear at any moment.

The scope 2.0x is perfect for Grim’s role because it will provide him with a really good level of zoom without compromising a lot on peripheral view. Its frame when Grim goes into aim-down-sights stance also wouldn’t take up a lot of screen space, so it’s great for an intel gatherer like Grim who would also mostly operate at medium range. As for the suppressed P229, it’s an important utility for Grim because it will allow him to shoot defender gadgets such as cameras, traps, and others, while minimizing the risk of alerting the enemies to his presence.

Excels in:

  • Maintaining a good amount of vertical recoil control on Grim’s 552 Commando with the use of the flash hider barrel attachment
  • The removal of the 552 Commando’s muzzle flash by the flash hider could make it harder for enemies to immediately spot where Grim is shooting them from
  • The angled grip will allow Grim to go into aim-down-sights stance faster than normal and that’s perfect for his role as an intel gatherer
  • The suppressed P229 handgun will allow Grim to silently shoot defender gadgets, therefore, with much less risk of alerting enemies
  • Grim being able to protect himself from run outs, flankers, and roamers, with the use of the two claymores in his arsenal

Build Details:

  • Primary weapon - 552 Commando with Scope 2.0x, Flash Hider, and Angled Grip
  • Secondary weapon - P229 with Suppressor and Laser
  • Generic gadget - Claymore

2. 552 Commando with Scope 2.0x, Extended Barrel, and Vertical Grip + P229 with Suppressor and Laser + Breach Charge

The extended barrel used to be one of the most seldom picked barrel attachments for most of the guns in Siege, that’s because before Year 7 Season 4.2, it only reduced the range damage drop-off of weapons. Personally,it was already great, but this barrel attachment has only become greater with the recent buff that made it so that it now adds 15% damage on weapons. That means that with this loadout setup, Grim will have the best damage possible, regardless of the distance where he’s shooting from.

That’s a really great advantage to have for Grim especially when he’s performing a vertical play by destroying large portions of wooden floors above objective spots using his breach charges. That will expose the defenders below, but metal beams would remain between Grim and his enemies, so it would be great for Grim to inflict as much damage as he can in that short window that he can frag his enemies. As for the secondary weapon, the suppressed P229 handgun would provide Grim with the ability to shoot enemy gadgets silently while he’s infiltrating the mission building.

Excels in:

  • Having the best damage possible at any range with the extended barrel reducing the range damage drop-off of the 552 Commando
  • Making the 552 Commando more powerful with the extended barrel attachment adding 15% damage to the weapon
  • Maintaining a good amount of vertical recoil control on Grim’s 552 Commando with the use of the vertical grip attachment
  • Providing Grim with a high zoom level through the scope 2.0x while not sacrificing a lot of peripheral view
  • Being able to silently shoot defender gadgets with the use of the suppressed P229 handgun
  • Being able to perform vertical plays using the breach charges for destroying large portions of the wooden floors above objective spots

Build Details:

  • Primary weapon - 552 Commando with Scope 2.0x, Extended Barrel, and Vertical Grip
  • Secondary weapon - P229 with Suppressor and Laser
  • Generic gadget - Breach Charge

1. 552 Commando with Scope 2.0x, Suppressor, and Vertical Grip + P229 with Muzzle Brake and Laser + Claymore

This is the best loadout setup for Grim because it provides the best balance. If the Grim player decides on a more linear approach to the objective spot, he can use the claymores to guard his back against roamers or flankers. If the objective spot is on a lower floor, he can just easily switch his generic gadget to a breach charge so that he can use them for a vertical play, and for a vertical play, the 552 Commando with a suppressor is great. That’s because it won’t be easy for the defenders below to know exactly where Grim is in most cases.

And with the suppressor, the Grim player will make it even harder for the defenders below to counterfire. And this applies for a horizontal or linear approach too. That’s because shots from a suppressed 552 Commando will not create a directional threat indicator that would tell enemies where Grim’s shots are coming from. On top of that, it will also hide the 552 Commando’s muzzle flash, and greatly dampen its gunshot sounds. With those stealth benefits, it will be hard for enemies to know exactly where Grim is, and that could prevent them from mounting an effective counter attack..

Excels in:

  • Shooting enemies with Grim’s 552 Commando without providing them a directional threat indicator of where your shots are coming from
  • Maintaining a strong vertical recoil control on Grim’s 552 Commando with the use of the vertical grip attachment
  • Making it harder for enemies to ascertain where Grim is shooting from with the suppressor greatly silencing the 552 Commando’s gunshots
  • Providing Grim with a high level of zoom on his 552 Commando through the scope 2.0x which also doesn’t take a lot of peripheral view
  • Guarding yourself against roamers, flankers, and run outs, with the use of the two claymores in Grim’s arsenal

Build Details:

  • Primary weapon - 552 Commando with Scope 2.0x, Suppressor, and Vertical Grip
  • Secondary weapon - P229 with Muzzle Brake and Laser
  • Generic gadget - Claymore
