Wings are the most important movement accessory in Hardmode. They are vital in almost all scenarios and are key to surviving all the arduous fights ahead. Finding the best pair of wings is one of the toughest challenges, though, as there are plenty of them to choose from! That's why we've compiled our own list of the Top 5 Terraria Best Hardmode Wings and how to get them!

5. Betsy's Wings

Did you clip this from that poor dragon?!

Betsy is a post-Golem boss that appears on Wave 7 of the Old One's Army. Killing this boss gives you a chance to earn its wings as a reward and is the 5th best wings in Hardmode. It has a perfect balance of flight time and speed which makes it great for dealing with the few bosses left in the game. It also provides a hover ability that doubles flight time and triples horizontal acceleration.

  • Flight time - 2.5 seconds
  • Height - 119 tiles
  • Horizontal Speed - 36
  • Vertical Multiplier - 250%
  • Hover Ability - x2 Flight time and +300% acceleration

What makes it great:

4. Empress Wings

First the dragon, now the Empress?!

The Empress of Light has a lot of items, but the wings it drops are one of the best. At this point, flight time is no longer an issue since you can get the Soaring Insignia in Expert and higher modes. In Classic, however, this is the last wing you'll get with less than 3 seconds of flight time. This set of wings has one of the best vertical acceleration with its special ability bound to the Up key by default.

Duke Fishron is one of the biggest challenges to any Terraria player. This is an optional boss fight that gives beneficial rewards to you when you beat it. Boss wings are a recurring trend in late-Hardmode, but this is the last boss clippings you'll ever get. These wings allow you to fly freely without getting hindered by liquids, making them great for arenas that utilize Honey Bubbles.

  • Horizontal Speed - 41
  • Vertical Multiplier - 250%

What makes it great:

  • Movement speed is not reduced in liquids

2. Luminite Wings

This list item is a 4-in-1

After beating Moon Lord, you'll have access to Luminite Bars which allows you to craft the Luminite Wings series. The Nebula and Vortex variants give you the Hover ability while the Solar and Stardust versions give you extra vertical and horizontal acceleration. These are great for doing Moon Lord re-fights and base construction end-game. As an added bonus, all of them glow in the dark!

  • Horizontal Speed - 33
  • Vertical Multiplier - 245%
  • Hover Ability - x2 Flight time and +300% acceleration

  • Vertical Multiplier - 300%

  • Two base wing types for different uses allow for better mobility choices

How to get it:

1. Celestial Starboard

tYou're literally riding a star

Although Luminite equipment is considered the best in most scenarios, this wing, or star, is a direct drop from Moon Lord and is the best wing available in the game. It has the best overall stats while giving you both an upgraded Quick Ascent ability and Hover ability at the same time.

  • Flight time - 3 seconds
  • Height - 201 tiles
  • Horizontal Speed - 41
  • Vertical Multiplier - 450%
  • Hover Ability - x2 Flight time and +300% acceleration
  • Hold Up for a slower ascent with quicker acceleration
