ACNH: How To Catch A Tarantula

Don't try this at home, kids.

Learning how to catch a tarantula in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a horrifying skill that pays up in the end.

The easy way to catch a tarantula in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

If you’re afraid of spiders, then Animal Crossing: New Horizons will not provide the reprieve that you’re looking for. Tarantulas will spawn on the island at night; between the hours of 7 p.m. and 4 a.m. And they’re aggressive. These beasts will chase you, and bite you if they get too close. This will result in your character fainting and re-spawning at home. Honestly, if I was bitten by a tarantula in real life I’d also faint, so there’s something to be said for realism. However, if you happen to catch a tarantula (in the game, of course) you can sell it to Timmy and Tommy for a whopping 8,000 bells!

How To Catch a Tarantula In ACNH:

  • Make sure that you’re equipped with both a shovel and a net. Before you approach the tarantula, dig an enclosure for yourself. It can be a square, rectangle, etc but at least one space needs to be left open so that you can run through.
  • Equip your net and approach the tarantula. When you get close enough, it will turn to face you, jump a bit and then start running after you.
  • Run into your enclosure through the opening you made for yourself. The tarantula shouldn’t be able to follow you. Most likely it’ll run in circles just within reach, giving you the opportunity to safely catch it with your net. Happy selling!
