[Top 10] Genshin Impact Best F2P Characters (Latest Patch)

That event was good, wasn't it?

That is a really pretty photo of Fischl in her new outfit. Yes, even 4-star characters get skins nowadays. But that’s not the only good thing about them, they are also powerful and free. Moreover, various 5-star characters like the shown Mona, for example, are also available without paying primogems. But, who are the best? This guide will give you the answer.

10. Dori

The first one is Dori, who you may not know because 1. she’s one of the newest characters and 2. she's shown in the latest part of the new story quest. A brief summary: she’s a rich merchant who’ll give you everything you ask for if given enough money.

Except for her Electro Vision or her Genie. Both of them she can use in battle to defend her possessions or take on commissions. She’s mostly a support, being able to buff co-op teammates by attaching her Genie to them and infusing their weapons with Electro.

What Makes Dori Great:

  • Universal Energy Recharge supporter.
  • Helpful to any Main DPS that needs mid to high Energy Recharge%.
  • Good single-target healing.
  • Full controlwhen Electro is applied to the enemy.

9. Candace

Candace is another new character, who was just released together with the desert map and its archon quest. You can see from her Egyptian outfit she’s one of the dwellers of the desert, mainly protecting her village from monster attacks during sandstorms.

She’s the first character in Genshin Impact to shield with an actual shield and not just a force field (like Noelle or Xinyan). However, she can also attack after blocking damage, and even support another team member from off-field with her burst.

What Makes Candace Great:

  • Provides Elemental Normal Attack Buffs with Elemental Burst.
  • Decent Elemental Burst DMG.
  • Enhances Elemental Normal Attack DMG.
  • Has a Shield and Parry mechanic that can help mitigate damage.
  • Becomes a great off-field Sub-DPS at C6.

8. Xingqiu

The silver medal goes to Xingqiu. This young master from Liyue loves reading knight novels, so much that he became a swordmaster himself to support his allies. His Hydro Vision allows him to call down water swords that can protect you from attacks, plus heal when hit.

His burst is his other redeeming feature. Attacking even while off-field and readying elemental reactions. Characters like Ayaka or Hu Tao benefit a lot from his help, having their damage doubled or allowing permafreezing.

What Makes Xingqiu Great:

  • Essential on vaporize and freeze compositions
  • Off-field damage with his burst
  • Infuses Hydro just from getting near the enemy: easy to play
  • Some healing

7. Bennett

Now onto the best 4-star support in the game: Bennett. This unlucky boy has had the luck to be on every Genshin player’s team, even if his overall luck is really bad. This is because his elemental burst.

You can only describe it as incomparable. It can completely heal your character in seconds, while buffing your attack a ton (by the thousands). This burst even recharges energy and clears any debuff. There’s nothing better to offer I’m sure.

What Makes Bennett Great:

  • Best buff provider in-game
  • Healing is top-notch
  • Can also be used as a battery
  • Clears debuffs like corrosion

6. Keqing

With her fake cat ears, Keqing is both an important member of the Qixing and one of the cutest girls in Liyue. Because of her unwavering beliefs in the people of Liyue and the ruler, Morax, she received her Vision.

Her gameplay is flashy, but that doesn’t mean it’s not powerful. She can blink from one place on the battlefield to another in a second, thus hitting her enemies with her Electro-infused sword. Really amazing.

What Makes Keqing Great:

  • Elemental Skill can hit weak points and has low CD.
  • Can teleport using Elemental Skill.
  • Very fast Charge Attack with High multipliers.

5. Mona

Mona is found in 5th place. Her talent in astrology has made her worthy of being the apprentice of one of the members of the Circle of Witches. However, this doesn't help her with her finances, making her live every day near poverty.

Where it does help her is in battle. Her knowledge of the stars together with the Hydro Vision bestowed upon her can be useful while fighting. Using her burst to control enemies and increase their taken damage is her main ability.

What Makes Mona Great:

  • Unique movement style allows for high-speed actions.
  • Elemental Skill provides a decoy for crowd control.
  • Elemental Burst deals a lot of DMG and buffs DMG.

4. Qiqi

Although Qiqi was supposed to be a healer character at first (which she is, of course), we find ourselves in the same situation as with Jean, the next one in the top. Her healing scales from her Attack. So if you want more healing, you need to give her more attack.

Then, if we are building her with ATK, why don't we make her a DPS? And that’s what we, well, like everyone, do. Her damage comes mainly from Physical normal attacks, while her enabling and healing with her kit can’t be forgotten.

What Makes Qiqi Great:

  • Strong Overall Healing
  • Elemental Skill provides heals over time and applies Cryo
  • Elemental Burst provides great Heals while dealing high Cryo damage
  • ATK stat increases with ascension

3. Jean

With Mondstadt being the city of freedom, it’s understandable there are people with an Anemo Vision. One of these cases is Jean, who holds the highest position as a defender in the Knights of Favonius.

Half-healer and half-DPS, Jean is a character that can help in lots of roles, mainly healing, dealing damage, and recharging energy. Moreover, her skill is one of the best at crowd controlling in the game, launching enemies far far away.

What Makes Jean Great:

  • Elemental Skill can function as crowd control.
  • Normal Attacks heal the party while dealing high Physical damage.
  • Elemental Burst provides AoE Burst Heal and DMG.

2. Diluc

Like the rest of them, he is one of the characters obtainable from the standard banner. As a DPS that has been in the game from the start, the fact that he still deserves a position in the top makes him exemplary.

People say that he’s only good in early-game, but his burst spam can destroy any Inazuman samurai in seconds. It infuses his claymore with the Pyro element and burns everything in its passing, from mobs to bosses.

What Makes Diluc Great:

  • Can imbue weapons with Pyro for repeat Elemental Reaction triggers.
  • Elemental Burst has a large effect area.
  • One of few characters whose CRIT Rate increases with Ascension.

1. Tighnari

Tighnari is the first 5-star character from Sumeru, a researcher slash ranger slash archer that lives in the forest. In the update 3.0 Tighnari was introduced in a special temporal banner. However, since the update 3.1, Tighnari is included in the standard free-to-play banner, available for all types of players.

In battle, he’s a full-on DPS whose charged shots persecute enemies through the whole battlefield. He’s even useful for exploration, as he can use those shots to mark treasure chests and show specialities in the minimap.

What Makes Tighnari Great:

  • Strong ranged Charge Attacks.
  • Great single-target damage.
  • Applies Dendro from multiple sources on his toolkit.
  • Strong Elemental Burst with a low Burst cost.

So, what do you think? If you are new to the game, I hope that that popular idea about Genshin Impact being pay-to-win disappears from your mind; and if you are indeed a player (and a f2p to boot) I hope that you finished reading with the feeling that your path is also correct and you’ll be as powerful as the others.
