[Top 15] Fifa 20 Best Buys Career Mode

Fifa 20 Best Buys Career Mode
Promotion-sealing bargains to future superstars, they're all here.

Value for money doesn't come any better than this.

Booting up a new Career Mode can get a little monotonous after a few new games going straight for the same old sure-fire, tried-and-tested match winners. Fortunately, I am here to show you the way to assembling a team full of the stars of the future, brimming with talent, and requiring plenty of nurturing to bring out their full potential.

15. Vinicius Jr. (Real Madrid, LW)

We all know this kid's going to be special, so pick him up now while he's (reasonably) cheap.

Not the last time a Real Madrid player is going to pop up here. Madrid clearly has an academy bursting with talent right now, and Vinicius has already made his mark on FIFA with great attributes and an appearance in the Volta game mode.

Vinicius’ stat highlights:

  • 93 Pace.
  • 94 Agility.
  • 5-Star skills, 4-Star weak foot.

Why Vinicius is amazing:

  • He’s ready to slot into pretty much any team.
  • You can play him right across the front line or at CAM.
  • His monster 92 potential.

Price: £20m

14. Gianluigi Donnarumma (Milan, GK)

Who could say no to a giant teenage sensation?

The best young keeper in the game is also the most expensive Career Mode transfer on my list. This is one for the big teams with some spare change to splash out on a goalkeeper they can grow to be the best in the world.

Donnarumma’s stat highlights:

  • 90 Diving.
  • 90 Reflexes.
  • 80 Positioning.

Why Donnarumma is amazing:

  • Another huge 92 potential.
  • He’s a 6’5” beast.
  • A decent £15-£20k wage.

Price: £37.5m

13. Rodrygo (Real Madrid, RW/LW)

Pair up Vinicius with his club and countryman. Brazil/Madrid friends!

As a test of each player's availability, I went into a new Career with EFL League One side Bury. I managed to pick up Rodrygo on a two-year loan for my half-star club… FIFA is a funny game sometimes.

Rodrygo’s stat highlights:

  • 86 Acceleration, 84 Sprint Speed.
  • 87 Agility, 84 Balance.
  • 4-Star skills.

Why Rodrygo is amazing:

  • Amazingly well-rounded pace, shooting, and dribbling.
  • Plays either wing equally well.
  • You can get him to 91 overall.

Price: £13.5m (2-year loan available)

12. Sandro Tonali (Brescia, CDM/CM)

The top young talent doesn't come much cheaper than Tonali.

Like Rodrygo, you may have seen Tonali's Future Stars card over on Ultimate Team. Well, for Career Mode players, he is just as exciting a prospect.

Tonali’s stat highlights:

  • 82 Short Pass, 81 Long Pass.
  • 74 Stand Tackle, 74 Interceptions.
  • 80 Strength.

Why Tonali is amazing:

  • 5’11” and 4-Star weak foot is fantastic at CM.
  • Medium/High work rates are CDM gold.
  • He also has a 91 potential rating.

Price: £12.5m

11. Reinier (Real Madrid, CF/CAM)

Just rent Zinedine Zidane a hotel room. The air miles he'll save will pay a month's wage.

Not available for purchase straight away, but it's definitely worth grabbing Reinier on a two-year loan. Once that's finished, take him in on a permanent deal. You won't regret it.

Reinier’s stat highlights:

  • 4-Star 4-Star.
  • 86 Acceleration.
  • 78 Agility.

Why Reinier is amazing:

  • His potential rating is 90, a massive increase to go for.
  • 6’1” and electric pace for a central player.
  • He can be trained up anywhere from LM/RM up to ST.

Price: £0 (loan only)

10. Riqui Puig (Barcelona, CM)

This guy is ideal for your lesser top-flight clubs. Think of the profit you can make when he's 87-rated.

Puig is a pricier option than most of the young stars here, but he can become an 87-rated monster of a CM. He's also already a 71 so he can do a job from the start for many managers.

Puig’s stat highlights:

  • 82 Agility, 83 Balance.
  • 79 Short Pass, 78 Vision.
  • Really nicely round Dribbling.

Why Puig is amazing:

  • 16 growth points to give him longevity.
  • Dribbling is already 76 and nicely spread across the attributes.
  • Good passer to improve second or even first division sides.

Price: £4.4m

9. Pedri (Las Palmas, LM/CAM)

Maybe just rent a room for Barca, too. Different hotels. probably.

You may need to wait a season or so to pick Pedri up on a permanent deal. However, like a lot of things in life: good things come to those who wait for an amazing young footballer to finish their loan deal.

Pedri’s stat highlights:

  • 88 Agility, 88 Balance.
  • 85 Acceleration.
  • 4-Star skills.

Why Pedri is amazing:

  • 89 potential overall.
  • Top-tier Agility and Balance.
  • High/Medium work rates.

Price: £0 (currently on loan)

8. Bukayo Saka (Arsenal, LM/LB/LW)

Quick, versatile, left-sided. As rare as a diamonte unicorn, just nowhere near as pricey.

A super-versatile choice for either side of the field. Saka fits into any formation you can play, and he'll turn into a fine 89-rated wide man for a low price.

Saka’s stat highlights:

  • 86 Acceleration.
  • 82 Agility, 77 Dribbling.
  • 4-Star weak foot.

Why Saka is amazing:

  • Play him in any wide position, front to back.
  • Great pace and Agility.
  • Good height for a wide man at 5’10”.

Price: £1.3m

7. Marcos Antonio (Shakhtar Donetsk, CM)

A surefire midfield improvement for any team once you're finished training him.

He may be a diminutive 5'5", but Antonio can become a giant in the midfield. Figuratively, of course. He won't get any taller.

Antonio’s stat highlights:

  • 78 Balance, 72 Ball Control.
  • 71 Stamina.
  • 73 Vision, 71 Long Pass.

Why Antonio is amazing:

  • He’s a long-term prospect with 20 points to upgrade.
  • He’s well-suited for any position in front of CDM.
  • Under £3k wage.

Price: £975k

6. Josha Vagnoman (Hamburg, RM/LB/RB)

This guy has it all; pace, height, and fantastic hair.

A towering fullback with a four-star weak foot, Vagnoman is the polar opposite of Antonio. Their one and best similarity? You can seal both deals for around £1m.

Vagnoman’s stat highlights:

  • 82 Acceleration, 86 Sprint Speed.
  • 76 Strength.
  • 64 Stand Tackle, 64 Marking.

Why Vagnoman is amazing:

  • Quick and strong even at 66 rated.
  • 85 potential.
  • 6’2”, a quality height for a full-back with his pace.

Price: £1m

5. Harvey Elliot (Liverpool, RW)

Don't expect Elliot to stay this cheap and hidden in the coming FIFAs.

English - particularly Liverpool - fans will probably be aware of Elliot already as a hot local talent. You can kickstart his growth on loan, before making the deal permanent when you have a couple of seasons worth of prize money in the bank.

Elliot’s stat highlights:

  • 83 Agility, 80 Balance.
  • 4-Star weak foot.
  • 78 Acceleration.

Why Elliot is amazing:

  • Grow him to a fantastic 87 rating.
  • He’s got the makings of a quality midfielder.
  • No wages to pay for the first two years!

Price: £0 (2-year loan available)

4. Billy Gilmour (Chelsea, CM/CAM)

Take what I just said for Elliot, and apply it twofold for Gilmour.

Gilmour had a star turn in the Premier League before football was put on hold. He's available for a ridiculous price on FIFA 20. Any team in the game will benefit from his presence.

Gilmour’s stat highlights:

  • 74 Short Pass, 72 Long Pass.
  • 76 Agility, 75 Balance.
  • 66 Acceleration.

Why Gilmour is amazing:

  • Nicely rounded passing and dribbling.
  • Medium/Medium suits CM or CAM perfectly.
  • 86 potential overall.

Price: £575k

3. Rayan Ait Nouri (Angers SCO, LB)

Prepare yourself now for my terrible joke of the article.

Now, I rather angered the representative of Angers by accidentally offering them £1 for Nouri. It wouldn't be one of my articles without a shocking joke, would it? You don’t have to break the bank to land him, though it will cost more than a single pound.

Nouri’s stat highlights:

  • 77 Balance, 73 Agility, 72 Ball Control.
  • 71 Stand Tackle, 72 Slide Tackle.
  • 69 Pace.

Why Nouri is amazing:

  • Cheap in fee and wage demands.
  • He starts with 70 dribbling and 69 defending.
  • Very meta, with 85 potential.

Price: £1.4m

2. Ryan Gravenberch (Ajax, CM)

Great name, great potential, coming from a great academy. What's the word I'm looking for?

Ajax is one of the best teams to manage on Career Mode, largely down to their famous youth setup. Ryan Gravenberch is a diamond waiting for you to uncover!

Gravenberch’s stat highlights:

  • 75 Sprint Speed.
  • 75 Short Pass, 74 Long Pass, 72 Vision.
  • 78 Agility, 76 Ball Control.

Why Gravenberch is amazing:

  • His pace and dribbling are already low-to-mid first division quality.
  • Crazy cheap wages for his day-one stats.
  • 87 potential.

Price: £1.5m

1. Ethan Ampadu (RB Leipzig, CB)

Leipzig is a team worth raiding for talent, starting with this guy.

Young British players traveling abroad for more game time is becoming a more common - and welcome - sight in football right now. Wales’ promising teenage center-back Ampadu is definitely one for the future of your Career Mode exploits.

Ampadu’s stat highlights:

  • 74 Jumping, 6’0”.
  • 61 Pace.
  • 69 Stand Tackle, 67 Slide Tackle.

Why Ampadu is amazing:

  • Other than shooting, his stats are phenomenally balanced.
  • Because of this you can grow him into almost any position.
  • 6’0” tall with 86 potential.

Price: £1.2m
