[Top 5] Dead By Daylight Best Jeff Johansen Builds

Jeff Johansen was introduced in Chapter X: Darkness Among Us along with the killer(s), The Legion. Jeff’s 3 teachable perks, Breakdown, Aftercare, and Distortion aren’t necessarily bad, but they are very situational. Jeff's look however is very unique from the rest of the survivors of Dead by Daylight, so perhaps you want to play him for his visual style. Nevertheless, let’s get into some builds for you to use while playing our Canadian friend.

5. Advanced Jeff Johansen

Should You Buy Jeff Johansen?

The Advanced Jeff Johansen attempts to make a build while using all 3 of his teachable perks. Unfortunately, there isn’t any synergy at all between them, so the build isn’t that effective. This will be a common theme you find when trying to make builds around his perks.

Dead Hard is a safe perk to bring, because of how strong it is in its ability to get you to windows and pallets during chases that you wouldn’t normally be able to get to in time.

Aftercare does give you an incentive to heal and rescue your teammates. However is it more worthwhile to take than either Bond or Empathy, I suppose that is up to you. The benefit to taking Aftercare over the others is that it allows your teammates to see you as well.

Breakdown however I do feel like is a decent perk. It isn’t as strong as it used to be, since hooks now are seemingly everywhere, and just having one hook gone isn't going to make much of a difference. Being able to see where the killer is when you are unhooked however will allow you to run somewhere else safely without running into them.

Distortion is a decent perk, letting you know if the killer has any aura reading perks, and allowing you not to be seen by them temporarily is a pretty decent benefit. The limited uses however is a pretty large downside.

What Advanced Jeff Johansen Excels In:

  • An incentive to be altruistic and heal teammates.
  • Safety from running into the killer after being unhooked.
  • Extend chases and avoid hits with Dead Hard.
  • You don’t have to worry about Barbecue and Chilli or Lethal Pursuer.

Perks Used:

Aftercare: You see the Aura of the last 1/2/3 Survivor(s):

  • You have rescued from a Hook, or who have rescued you from a Hook.
  • You have completed a Healing action on, or who have completed a Healing action on you.
  • They also see your Aura.
  • All effects of Aftercare are reset upon being hooked by the Killer.

Breakdown: Each time you are unhooked or unhook yourself, the Hook breaks and the Killer's Aura is revealed to you for 4/5/6 seconds.

  • A Hook broken by Breakdown takes 180 seconds to respawn.

Distortion: You start the Trial with 3 Tokens.

  • Whenever the Killer attempts to read your Aura, Distortion activates and a Token is consumed:
  • Your Aura will not be shown to the Killer and you will not leave any Scratch Marks for the next 6/8/10 seconds.
  • Distortion does not activate when you are in the Dying State or in a Killer Trap.

Dead Hard: When Injured, tap into your adrenaline bank and dash forward quickly to avoid damage.

  • Press the Active Ability button while running to dash forward.
  • Avoid any damage during the Dash.
  • Dead Hard causes the Exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds.
  • Dead Hard cannot be used when Exhausted.

4. Hook Life

Aftercare Is Seriously UNDERRATED! - Dead By Daylight

Hook Life makes a build based around unhooking your fellow survivors, and it does a pretty good job. If you want to play altruistically, this is a solid option to go for.

All of these perks have synergy with each other which is a pretty challenging thing to do with Jeff’s perks. After you unhook a survivor you will get the benefit of Aftercare, they will have some safety with Borrowed Time if the killer does decide to come back. If the killer doesn’t decide to return to the hook, you can get off a fast heal with We’ll Make It, and you get extra bloodpoints by getting stacks with We’re Gonna Live Forever.

There isn’t much to this build, it doesn’t help you in chases at all, but your survivors will thank you for being so altruistic, and the extra bloodpoints aren’t a bad thing either.

What Hook Life Excels In:

  • A lot of incentives to go out of your way to rescue teammates off of the hook.
  • Double heal speed after unhooking.
  • Extra bloodpoints from being altruistic.

Borrowed Time: For 8/10/12 seconds after unhooking a Survivor, the unhooked Survivor is protected by the Endurance Status Effect.

  • Any damage taken that would put the Survivor into the Dying State will instead trigger the Deep Wound Status Effect, after which the Survivor has 20 seconds to Mend themselves.
  • Taking any damage while under the effect of Deep Wound or if its timer runs out will put the Survivor into the Dying State.

We’re Gonna Live Forever: When healing a dying Survivor, your Healing speed is increased by 100%.

  • Performing any of the following actions has We're Gonna Live Forever gain 1 Token:
  • Performing a Safe Hook Rescue.
  • Taking a Protection Hit for an injured Survivor.
  • Stunning the Killer to rescue a carried Survivor.
  • Blinding the Killer to rescue a carried Survivor.
  • Each Token grants a stackable 25% bonus to all Bloodpoint gains, up to a maximum of 50/75/100%.

We’ll Make It: Whenever you rescue a Survivor from a Hook, your Altruistic Healing speed is increased by 100% for the next 30/60/90 seconds.

3. Meta Variant

Oh Yeah, Distortion Is a Perk - Dead By Daylight (Gameplay)

The Meta Variant takes the normal meta builds you see in most red rank survivors, and then adds in Jeff’s perk with Distortion.

This is a safe perk to put in if you want to add extra sneakiness, not letting the killer snowball by finding you easily with Barbecue and Chilli.

Adrenaline is a very situational perk, most of the time you won’t get much use out of it other than the speed boost it provides, but if you do happen to get the extra heal off, it usually comes in clutch.

There isn’t much to say about Dead Hard and Decisive Strike other than what we already know. Dead Hard helps you extend chases and get out of bad situations very easily and is a really strong perk to have. While with Decisive Strike, if you can use it in the end game, there is a very high chance that you will escape the match.

What this Meta Variant Build Excels In:

  • You don’t have to worry about Barbecue and Chilli or Lethal Pursuer.
  • Uses most of the meta perks you may be used to using already.
  • Very strong end game in some situations.

Perks Used:

Adrenaline: When the Exit Gates are powered, instantly heal one Health State and sprint at 150% of your normal Running speed for 5 seconds.

  • Adrenaline is on hold if you are disabled at the moment it triggers and will instead activate upon being freed.
  • If playing against The Nightmare, Adrenaline will wake you from the Dream World upon activation.
  • Adrenaline ignores an existing Exhaustion timer, but causes the Exhausted Status Effect for 60/50/40 seconds.

Decisive Strike: After being unhooked or unhooking yourself, Decisive Strike activates for the next 40/50/60 seconds:

  • When being grabbed or picked up by the Killer, succeed a Skill Check to automatically escape their grasp, stunning them for 5 seconds.
  • Successfully stunning the Killer will disable Decisive Strike for the remainder of the Trial and result in you becoming the Obsession.
  • While Decisive Strike is active, the following interactions will deactivate it:
  • Repairing a Generator.
  • Healing yourself or other Survivors.
  • Cleansing a Totem.
  • Sabotaging a Hook.
  • Unhooking other Survivors.
  • Increases the odds of being the Obsession.
  • The Killer can only be obsessed with one Survivor at a time.

2. The Invisible Man - Ninja Variant

INVISIBLE! | Dead By Daylight LEGACY SURVIVOR PERK BUILDS

Monto’s version of The Invisible Man is used fairly aggressively. He uses the perks here to be able to run around the killer and be likely to lose them mid-chase.

Calm Spirit is a very underused perk, mostly because it doesn’t have many uses. Typically if you are in low ranks, the killer won’t pay much attention to crows anyway, and if you are in high ranks, it isn’t common for crows to play a big part anyway. If you happen to be going against The Doctor however it is very strong as you get rid of his ability to track you with his big shock. You also get the benefit of countering perks like Spies From The Shadows that alert the killer when crows are set off, and from Infectious Fright, which will make you scream if a teammate around you gets put into the dying state.

Quick and Quiet and Iron Will benefits you while you are very close to the killer, perhaps mid chase even, allowing you to sneak around them and maybe even get them off of your trail. If you vault a window and they don’t hear the sound they may believe you faked the vault and will double back to catch you, or you can try to slip into a locker without making a sound and they will have no clue where you went. However, in higher ranks, this doesn’t work that often.

Lastly, we have Diversion again, which will help protect you from the killer’s aura reading abilities.

What The Invisible Man - Ninja Variant Excels In:

Possibility to confuse and lose killers or extend chases.

Hard counter to Doctor, Infectious Fright, and Spies From The Shadows.

Won’t alert crows, making it harder for killers to track.

Perks Used:

Calm Spirit: The chances of alerting nearby Crows are reduced by 80/90/100% and your urge to scream from pain is suppressed.

Iron Will: When injured, Grunts of Pain are reduced by 50/75/100%.

Quick and Quiet: Loud Noise notifications for rushing to vault Windows, or to enter or exit Lockers are completely suppressed.

  • Quick & Quiet has a cool-down of 30/25/20 seconds.

1. The Invisible Man - Gen Variant

THE INVISIBLE MAN - New Jane Perks on Jeff - Dead by Daylight [#308]

HybridPanda’s version of The Invisible Man, however, takes a less chase-oriented approach. Instead, they use perks that try to prevent them from being put into a chase in the first place.

The use of Poised allows you to complete a generator and run to the next one without leaving any scratch marks, leaving no trail for the killer to follow. While using Lightweight is that if you do have to run between objectives, your scratch marks won’t last as long meaning the killer has less of a chance to see them, or if they do, a harder time tracking them.

Iron Will is used strictly to suppress your screams of pain, a fairlystraightforward and strong perk. And Distortion is once again used to stop the killer from seeing your aura.

There isn’t much more to be said about the build, it is pretty simple. Do gens, hide your scratch marks, don’t let your aura be seen, and don’t be heard. A very solid sneaking around build.

What The Invisible Man - Gen Variant Excels In:

  • Staying hidden from the killer.
  • Makes it very difficult for the killer to track your scratch marks.
  • You don’t have to worry about Barbecue and Chilli, or Lethal Pursuer.

Perks Used:

Distortion: You start the Trial with 3 Tokens.

  • Whenever the Killer attempts to read your Aura, Distortion activates and a Token is consumed:
  • Your Aura will not be shown to the Killer and you will not leave any Scratch Marks for the next 6/8/10 seconds.
  • Distortion does not activate when you are in the Dying State or in a Killer Trap.

Iron Will: When injured, Grunts of Pain are reduced by 50/75/100%.

Lightweight: Your Scratch Marks start to disappear 1/2/3 seconds sooner.

Poised: After a Generator is completed, you will not leave any Scratch Marks for the next 6/8/10 seconds.
