However, there’s some things that aren’t available to Guardians on free-to-play accounts, like certain weapons and activities. As such players who previously bought the game may have a bit of an advantage in both terms of experience and equipment available to them.

1. Bad Juju

"If you believe your weapon wants to end all existence, then so it will." —Toland the Shattered

Making a return from the first Destiny is Bad Juju. It’s exotic perk String of Curses refills your magazine, increases damage, and charges your super energy. It doesn’t stop there, because this effect can stack up to 5 times. In PvE, the effect can increase your critical damage by about 99% when String of Curses is at its max.

  • String of Curses: 

Fires full-auto. Kills refill the magazine, increase damage for a short duration, and grant Super energy based on the strength of String of Curses.

What makes Bad Juju good?:

  • Very stable
  • Exotic perk generates and fills magazine on kill, but doesn’t draw on your own ammo reserves. Meaning (almost) infinite ammo.
  • String of Curses stacks 5 times and increases critical damage to enemies by 99% when at max effect.
  • Helps charge your Super

2. Mida Multi-Tool

Select application: Ballistic engagement. Entrenching tool. Avionics trawl. Troll smasher. Stellar sextant. List continues. 

Another Exotic returning from Destiny 1 is the Mida Multi-Tool. This scout rifle has a staggering aim assist stat of 100 and it’s exotic perk allows you to move faster, which proves handy in PvP.

3. Legend of Acrius

Here’s a heavy shotgun that doesn’t follow the norm. The Legend of Acrius has a range of 100 and it nails through enemies with ease . It’s certainly mean.

4. Fighting Lion

"I call it the Zhang Fei. It hits almost as hard as I do." —Wei Ning

Fighting Lion is a grenade launcher that has an interesting perk. If you’ve played any of the Halo games that have grenade launchers you’ll feel right at home using this, because it’s perk allows your grenades to both bounce but also let’s you detonate it when you want by holding and letting go of the trigger. It’s a callback to Halo’s grenade launchers, or “Pro-pipes” as fans of the series called them.

  • Good for clearing groups of small enemies

5. Outbreak Perfected

“-directive = KILL while enemies = PRESENT: executive(directive)-”

If you've played the Rise of Iron expansion in the first Destiny, you’ll remember Outbreak Prime, here’s it’s big brother. On precision kills and consistent hits upon an enemy, SIVA nanites will spawn, swarm and attack your target. To make things worse for them, Outbreak Perfected will do more damage based on how many nanites are swarming an enemy. This is great when you need a little more punch when chipping away at a major enemy’s health. In essence, it’s practically bees in a gun.

  • The Corruption Spreads: This weapon creates SIVA nanite swarms on rapid hits and precision kills.
  • Parasitism: This weapon does more damage to enemies based on the number of SIVA nanites that attach to them.

  • Good Stability
  • Nanites track down a target; if they die, they will find attack other target
  • Exotic Catalyst for this rifle stacks nanites and damage
  • Good for PvE and PvP

6. Sturm

These ancient ceremonial pistols can be dated back to the early Golden Age. A faded inscription reads, "To Sigrun, from Victor."

Sturm is a hand cannon that needs a friend. It’s friend being the legendary side arm Drang, and when you have these two equipped they make quite a duo. When you get kills with Drang it reloads and gives Sturm an overcharged (higher damage) extra round in it’s magazine. But that’s not all, Sturm kills refills your energy weapon ammo, simply put, it means these weapons practically reload each other.

7. Whisper of the Worm

A Guardian's power makes a rich feeding ground. Do not be revolted. There are parasites that may benefit the host… teeth sharper than your own. 

 

Whisper of the Worm is a Solar sniper rifle that is fantastic for DPS against bosses. This is thanks to it’s exotic perk White Nail, which refills your magazine after landing 3 precision shots. It’s trait, Mulligan, has a chance at returning your missed shots back into the magazine. If you’re confident in your ability to land headshots, don’tt plan on running out of ammo anytime soon.

8. Sweet Business

"…I love my job."

Let’s get down to business, to defeat the Huns. Or in this case anything that stands in our way. To maximize this Auto Rifle’s power you need to hold down the trigger which gets the gun’s barrels rotating and firing. It’s not always the most practical choice for some players, once this baby starts spinning good times and annoyed enemy teams lie ahead.

Exotic Perk:

  • Payday: Larger magazine. Increased accuracy when firing from the hip. Picking up ammo for this weapon immediately reloads it.
  • Business Time: Sustained fire boosts range and rate of fire.

What makes Sweet Business good?:

  • Mows down groups better than a lawn mower fresh out the factory
  • Exotic perk reduces the need to reload
  • Beautiful sound when firing
  • Using this will incite hate messages from other players, absorbing their hatred to make you stronger

9. Vigilance Wing

"The eye remains open. The Lighthouse remains lit." —Brother Vance 

Vigilance Wing has a staggering 5-round burst and packs quite a punch. If you’re accurate enough to get headshots most of the time, you can take out an enemy with 2 bursts of this exotic rifle. This gun shines in gamemodes like Trials of Osiris thanks to its perks that boost your stats and gives you a fighting chance when you lose teammates. It also increases weapon performance if you’re the last player on the fireteam.

10. Thunderlord

They return from fields afar. The eye has passed, the end nears. Do not fade quietly. Let thunder reign again. 

Coming back from the first Destiny, Thunderlord makes a return. The gun’s exotic perk generates lightning strikes when you kill an enemy. It’s as if Zeus himself owes you some favors so he joins your game to help. Thanks, Zeus!

  • Lightning Rounds: This weapon fires faster and more accurately the longer the trigger is held. Continuous damage generates lightning strikes.

What makes Thunderlord good?:

  • AOE lightning strikes
  • Lightning strikes do higher damage which helps conserve ammo
  • Good at clearing hordes of enemies
  • Fairly easy to get
