[Top 10] MK1 Best Geras Skins (Ranked)

Don’t lie Geras, you stole the glowing eyes thing from old Raiden, didn’t you?

Out of all the new characters that debuted in Mortal Kombat 11, I was glad that Liu Kang decided to bring back Geras as a Keeper of Time. This immortal entity caught my eye the moment he was introduced, mostly because of his unique design!

And now like the other kombatants in Mortal Kombat 1, Geras has his own special assortment of MK1 skins. Here are a few of his skins that I believe are worth talking about!

#1: Defender of the Timeline

Defending deez nu—DANG IT JOHNNY!

Defender of the Timeline in action:

Start at 0:43

As the Keeper of Time, why don’t we start the list off with Defender of the Timeline? This common New Era skin for Geras has a palette that contains blue, red, and gold. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Defender of the Timeline as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.

Blue and gold seem to be the common colors associated with the Keepers. In Mortal Kombat 11, many of the characters who became the Keeper of Time in their endings wore blue and gold, those colors were basically Kronika’s signature colors. I mean, blue and gold are great together, so I’m not complaining!

#2: Kronos

Um, I don’t think Kronika would like this skin, Geras

Kronos in action:

Start at 0:46

While we’re on the topic of Titans, here we have a common skin called Kronos! This Kronos skin has a palette which includes colors such as beige and gold. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Kronos as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.

In Greek mythology, Kronos is the god of time and the King of the Titans until he was dethroned by his own son Zeus. Kronos was even so terrified of a prophecy about him being overthrown by his own children that he literally SWALLOWED them whole, but at least they were saved in the end. Now this makes me wonder: since Geras has become the sole Keeper of Time in the new era, will he be dethroned like Kronika was in the future?

#3: Infinite Lives

Death would like to have a word with you, Geras

Infinite Lives in action:

Start at 0:52

I’m not very keen on the idea of living forever, but it’s not like Geras had a choice in the matter. Infinite Lives is a common New Era skin with a palette containing colors like red and blue. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Infinite Lives as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.

I have mentioned that Geras is indeed immortal, but I haven’t yet explained why that is. Geras is actually a fixed point in time meaning that he can recover from any injuries, even fatal ones. The man has lived for so long that he had even witnessed the Great Kung Lao’s battle with Goro!

#4: Kronological Konstruct

Wow, really acing the alliteration alright

Kronological Konstruct in action:

Start at 0:59

Being a construct created by Kronika herself, it’s only fair that Geras has a Mortal Kombat 1 skin referring to this, right? The first of Geras’ Union of Light skins to be featured on this list is Kronological Konstruct, which has a palette that contains white and green. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Kronological Konstruct as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.

I don’t know about you, but did anyone else think Geras looks a lot like Zasalamel from Soulcalibur in this skin? More specifically, I’m thinking about Zasalamel’s appearance in Soulcalibur III with his hood. All Geras would need is a scythe, and the two characters could be twins!

#5: Master of Eternity

More like Master of Swag…I’ll walk myself out

Master of Eternity in action:

Start at 1:11

Since he literally has all eternity to live his life, I wonder what Geras does in his free time when he’s not busy with his duties as Keeper of Time. Above, you can see the skin Master of Eternity, a common Union of Light skin with dark blue and gold in its palette. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Master of Eternity as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.

May I just say, the shade of blue used in Master of Eternity is gorgeous! It’s like looking at the sea on a starry night with the white being the moonlight and the gold being the stars in the sky. The artist in me definitely appreciates this skin’s beauty.

#6: Purified by Flame

Geras, you’ve been hanging around Liu Kang for too long

Purified by Flame in action:

Start at 1:18

You know, with him being around Liu Kang so much, I wouldn’t be surprised if Geras suddenly developed fire powers. Here we have another common Union of Light skin, Purified by Flame, which has a palette of warm colors. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Purified by Flame as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.

In a way, Geras was indeed purified by flames.  When Liu Kang rewrote history, he also reconstructed Geras to be his friend and the Guardian of the Hourglass. I love how Liu Kang allowed Geras to retain his memories of the timeline, because it means that he trusts that Geras won’t revert back to his old ways.

#7: Seconds to Burn

Okay, give me like twenty minutes to finish this episode before you burn me alive!

Seconds to Burn in action:

Start at 1:25

Seriously Geras, Liu Kang is being a bad influence on you! Now we have another Union of Light skin with a fire theme called Seconds to Burn, and its palette contains warm colors as well, such as red and yellow. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Seconds to Burn as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.

As someone who doesn’t like yellow that much, I was genuinely surprised at how much I found the colors in Seconds to Burn  so visually appealing. Yellow is the dominant color in this skin and the way the yellow clothing falls over Geras’ form makes it look like liquid gold! It’s just pretty satisfying to see, in my opinion.

#8: Deadly Years

Good thing those years are behind you, Geras…or are they?

Deadly Years in action:

Start at 1:47

Geras was a force to be reckoned with back in the previous timeline, courtesy of Kronika. This rare Order of Darkness skin, which is called Deadly Years, comes with a palette containing the colors red, white, blue, and gold. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Seconds to Burn as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.

In Mortal Kombat 11, Geras was a villain that constantly got in the way of the heroes to aid Kronika in her mission. I did think his MK11 ending was interesting, because it showed that all he wanted was to be at peace and that he understands Kronika’s struggle to make a “perfect” timeline. I know that ending isn’t canonical, of course, but I still think it helped paint Geras as an actual person and not just some “thing” created to serve its creator.

#9: Age of Animosity

Alright, who ticked off Geras this time!?

Age of Animosity in action:

Start at 1:53

I don’t think we’ve ever seen Geras upset, or showing any emotion really. So when I first saw Age of Animosity, a legendary Order of Darkness skin with the colors teal and gold, the title immediately caught my attention. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Age of Animosity as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.

I find it ironic that Liu Kang created this new era as an era of peace. But as the title of this skin puts it, this new timeline is honestly an age of people still hating each other with every fiber of their being! Sub-Zero hates Smoke (and I still think Sub-Zero kicked that rock down on purpose!), Johnny Cage and Kenshi had beef for the longest, and let’s not forget the ever growing hatred between Liu Kang and Shang Tsung (way to lead by example, fire god)!

#10: Eternal Destruction

Uh, make peace not war, sir

Eternal Destruction in action:

Start at 1:56

I have a feeling that Geras is trying to tell us something with this skin…and it’s nothing good. But there was no way I was leaving out Eternal Destruction, a legendary skin containing a monochromatic palette of purple. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Eternal Destruction as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.

Destruction seems to be a constant in the Mortal Kombat universe, no matter the timeline. There will always be death, war, and suffering beyond anything you can imagine. Will this new era end in total annihilation as well or does fate have something else in mind?

Unlike Geras, I’m definitely no Keeper of Time, and I’d never want to be because that’s way too much responsibility for me. But recently, I did have this one vision of the future, and you want to know what I saw? I saw you playing Mortal Kombat 1 and getting some cool Geras skins! In fact, I bet you’re doing that right now, aren’t you? Please say you are.
