[Top 10] MK1 Best Li Mei Skins (Ranked)

That is the look of someone who despises politics

First Constable Li Mei is at your service, Outworld! The former leader of the Umgadi is now patrolling the streets of Outworld, protecting its people from any sinister forces that threaten the realm.

But if there’s one thing Li Mei learned from her time as an Umgadi, it’s that she needs to look the part! The First Constable must look professional but fashionable as well, which is definitely a law (probably not, but it might as well be!).

#1: Sheriff of Sun Do

Police brutality, coming up! (Please don’t be mad at me, Stryker)

Sheriff of Sun Do in action:

Start at 2:13

Li Mei would be the best cop if she lived in Earthrealm! But as the top dog of the Sun Do Constabulary, this uncommon New Era skin called Sheriff of Sun is first on the list, and its palette contains green, gold, and brown. To unlock Sheriff of Sun Do, you have to level up your Character Mastery.

As I mentioned before, Li Mei was the leader of the Umgai before becoming the First Constable. She resigned from the Umgadi because she felt it was her fault King Jerrod died since she was on watch that night. But it seems that Li Mei really enjoys her job as seen in her MK1 ending when she requested to go back to being the First Constable shortly after being appointed the leader of the Imperial Police by Empress Mileena.

#2: Protect and Serve

Ever thought about working in LA, Li Mei?

Protect and Serve in action:

Start at 2:23

Li Mei and Styrker would be best buddies, wouldn’t they? Protect and Serve, a rare New Era skin for Li Mei, has a palette with the colors blue, beige, and brown. To unlock Protect and Serve, you have to level up your Character Mastery.

The Sun Do Constabulary act as basically the police force of Outworld’s capital. It’s also one of the four branches of Outworld’s military along with the Army, the Umgadi, and the Imperial Police. I think Li Mei has finally found the right branch for her!

#3: Sindel’s Confidante

Awww, I’m sure Li Mei and Sindel would’ve been besties again

Sindel’s Confidante in action:

Start at 2:27

I hate how strained Li Mei and Sindel’s relationship became after Jerrod’s death. But the First Constable used to be Sindel’s confidante, which happens to be the name of this skin shown above, and its palette has purple, green, red, and black. To unlock Sindel’s Confidante, you have to level up your Character Mastery.

It’s sad how the Umgadi basically threw Li Mei under the bus and this caused a rift between her and the royal family. It felt so good when the former Umgadi leader finally earned Sindel’s trust back after so long. Even though Sindel died by the end of MK1’s story, Li Mei’s relationships with Mileena and Kitana have grown stronger than ever.

#4: Thirst Constable

See? This skin gets it with the puns!

Thirst Constable in action:

Start at 2:50

Yes, Li Mei is thirsty…FOR JUSTICE! Thirst Constable is a common New Era skin with a palette containing red and black. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Thirst Constable as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.

I admit, while this skin is honestly really cool in appearance, I do love the name of the skin more than anything! Thirst Constable appeared during Season 2 of Invasion mode, the Season of the Blood Moon as most would call it, so this blood themed skin is fitting! And switching out “First” for “Thirst” is just…look, I get excited about those little things, okay!?

#5: Wrongfully Accused

Objection, Your Honor! Li Mei did not take the last cookie from Sindel’s cookie jar!

Wrongfully Accused in action:

Start at 3:55

You know, I’m glad Li Mei left the Umgadi when she did, because she didn’t deserve to be punished for something that was out of her control. And this common skin called Wrongfully Accused with its palette of purple, yellow, and red describes Li Mei’s situation perfectly. To unlock Wrongfully Accused, you have to level up your Character Mastery.

Now that I think about it, Jerro never did explain how he actually died in Mortal Kombat 1, did he? I mean yes, we know he was murdered, but by who and why (with the “why” probably having something to do with his royal status)? Although, I am happy that he stood up for Li Mei, and told everyone that she wasn’t at fault for his murder.

#6: Warden of Peace

Looks like she can kill you…but is actually a cinnamon roll (that can still kill you)

Warden of Peace in action:

Start at 4:09

What I really love about Li Mei is that she is one of the most level-headed characters in Mortal Kombat 1 and she'll actually ask questions before taking action. Warden of Peace, a rare Union of Light skin for Li Mei, has a palette with colors such as green and pink. To unlock Warden of Peace, you have to level up your Character Mastery.

As leader of the Sun Do Constabulary, Li Mei is much more aware of what is happening in Sun Do than anyone in the other military branches. She likes to be in the know and she wants to be there to serve the citizens of Outworld anytime and anywhere! It really shows that while Li Mei does care deeply for Outworld’s royal family, she also cares for all of Outworld’s people just as much.

#7: Brazen Lawlessness

Okay, I admit it…she probably did take that cookie

Brazen Lawlessness in action:

Start at 4:41

Even though Li Mei is a woman of the law, she knows when rules need to be broken. Brazen Lawlessness is a common Union of Light skin that has a palette including the colors orange, brown, and black. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Brazen Lawlessness as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.

When Liu Kang confronted Li Mei asking her to take him to Queen Sindel, Li Mei actually took the time to listen to the fire god. And in the end, the First Constable helped Liu Kang and even fought against Sindel and her daughters when they refused to see reason. It goes to show that Li Mei does think logically and will always do the right thing even if it means standing against those closest to her.

#8: Coiled Dragon

Excuse me while I go fangirl in the corner

Coiled Dragon in action:

Start at 5:06

Okay, I think I got all the excitement out of my system (for now), so let’s look at this Deception skin! Here’s Coiled Dragon, a common skin with purple and black in its palette. Li Mei’s Deception skin was in the Premium Store, but it seems that the skin is currently unavailable for purchase.

The Deception skin is a direct reference to Li Mei’s outfit in Mortal Kombat: Deception and it’s one of my favorite outfits for Li Mei in the whole series! MKD was actually the first Mortal Kombat game I had ever played, so I was hit with instant nostalgia when I saw the skin above. Man, this just makes me miss MK’s 3D era even more!

#9: Setting Sun

Li Mei is definitely an early bird!

Setting Sun in action:

Start at 5:56

Li mei’s sense of justice truly shines brighter than the sun! And speaking of the sun, we have another common Deception skin called Setting Sun, which contains a palette with a pale yellow and black. Li Mei’s Deception skin was in the Premium Store, but it seems that the skin is currently unavailable for purchase.

The title of this skin could have multiple meanings in Li Mei’s case. I like to think that Setting Sun is referring to how a chapter has ended in Li Mei’s life and a new one has begun. A chapter where she is no longer seen as the warrior who left the Umgadi in disgrace, but as a hero who serves her realm with honor.

#10: Lost Rose

Come on, every rose has the ability to kill you without warning…wait, it's just mine!?

Lost Rose in action:

Start at 6:09

Fun fact: did you know Li Mei means “pretty rose” in Chinese? Well Lost Rose is close enough, but that actually refers to the common Deception skin shown above with its palette of red and gold. Li Mei’s Deception skin was in the Premium Store, but it seems that the skin is currently unavailable for purchase.

I think after the whole ordeal with Jerrod’s death and her resigning from the Umgadi, Li Mei was indeed lost. It took some time, but she’s finally found her place in the world and she has been redeemed. Not that she did anything wrong in the first place, but now Li Mei has become the best version of herself because of what she accomplished in MK1.

Deadly Alliance, Deception, Mortal Kombat 1, it doesn’t matter what version of Li Mei you prefer. We can all agree that this Outworlder is cool no matter the timeline! So, get these great Li Mei skins now while you still can! She deserves to be able to fight crime and look good doing it, right?
