[Top 10] Metro Exodus Best Items (And How To Get Them)

Just the two of us <3

In Metro Exodus, you’re going to stumble upon some items you will simply won’t be able to live without. Sometimes literally. We’re gonna talk about all sorts of things, such as gear, weaponry, consumables, and other useful gadgets. Without further ado, let’s begin with the first item:

10. Medkits

Can’t live without ‘em.

These are pretty self-explanatory but some less experienced players might not know that medkits also improve your speed, as well as vision. They can be quickly used during combat, they’re not temporary and they restore a percentage of Artyom’s health permanently. However, as your health will gradually replenish on its own when you are not engaged in battle, it is not worthwhile to use medkits.

Why medkits are awesome:

  • Can save your life multiple times during combat
  • Improves your overall speed for a short period of time
  • Can be often found on corpses

How to find them:

On corpses, in containers or they can be crafted.

Stats:

Will restore the full amount of your health per injection

9. Battery Charge Controller

When your flashlight gives up.

You may essentially utilize your batteries for extended lengths of time with this device. It implies that your flashlight will work better for longer periods of time, enabling you to find other things with ease. Later on in the game, you may even use your flashlight to frighten these scorpion-looking creatures away!

Why this item is awesome:

  • Keeps your flashlight alive for longer
  • Allows you to search for items easily
  • Spiderbugs won’t bite your ankles

Where to find it:

Located in the center south of the Volga map, on a small island. You’ll have to do a small puzzle once you’re there.

Stats:

This item doesn’t really have any stats, it takes like 10-15 pumps to fully recharge your batteries though!

8. Filters

Can’t progress without ‘em!

The most important things you need in Metro Exodus are these. They can be discovered on corpses (yuck!) and in containers, but a workshop may also be used to make them from scratch. They enable you to travel to new places and breathe for longer in hazardous regions.

Why this item is awesome:

  • Keeps you exploring areas for longer
  • Without them, you really can’t progress further in this game
  • Easy to find throughout the levels

Where to find them:
They can be found on corpses, in containers, and crafted.

Stats:

Each filter lasts for around 5 minutes, they also stack

7. Binoculars

When you don’t use a sniper rifle.

Scouting is useful since it allows you to plan ahead and increase your odds of survival by letting you know how many opponents are around. If you don't like using a sniper rifle, Krest will give you a pair of binoculars at some point in the game.

Why binoculars can be useful:

  • Scouting areas is always smart
  • Allows you to count enemies from a longer distance
  • You can use them to come up with strategies of eliminating your foes

How to get it:

You’ll have to wait for Krest to give them to you at one point in the game.

Stats:

This item doesn’t have any stats. You can’t even hit a Nosalis in the nose with it!

6. Throwing Weapons Harness

For throwing enjoyers.

This weapon is unquestionably for you if you enjoy being sneaky, enjoy blowing your enemies to pieces with grenades, or just enjoy lighting them on fire. It increases your ability to carry more grenades, knives, and molotov cocktails, considerably increasing your probability of surviving.

Why this harness is epic:

  • Lets you carry more molotovs, which are especially useful against heavy troopers
  • Grenades can take out multiple people at once and send them into the stratosphere
  • Throwing knives are for those who fancy stealth, be careful tho, the hitboxes can be weird

Where to find it:

It’s in a gas station in Volga, located far to the east. It’s filled with bandits, so be careful.

Stats:

More slots for throwable weapons

5. Armoured Gas Mask

More resistant to bites and bullets.

This item will keep your gas mask from cracking a lot less. We all know what happens when a gas mask cracks excessively; there will be a huge hole in the left side of the mask that needs to be taped up. If the damage is too severe, however, you will simply suffocate to death.

Why it’s awesome:

  • Allows you for more ballsy gameplay
  • You also save up on duct tape
  • Makes sure you won’t die of suffocation too fast.

You can find it here:

Found in the Caspian zone, on the western part of the map. There should be a cave with slavers, simply kill them and look for the mask there.

Stats:

Withstands a few more shots than the default gas mask.

4. Consumables Carrier

How many adrenaline shots can you take, Artyom?

We don’t know but Artyom has a very strong heart to take these many syringes with questionable substances. This item basically lets you carry more medkits, as well as filters - we’ve talked about them at the beginning of the article and they both will keep you alive.

Why this item is awesome:

More heroin for Artyom to get addicted to

Filters will keep you from suffocating

Less likelihood of you dying in firefights

Where to find it:

You can find a cave on the eastern part of the shore in the Caspian zone, it should be there.

Stats:

More consumables slots than the default carrier

3. Night vision goggles

For Splinter Cell enjoyers.

This device, as the name suggests, improves your night vision. You get to kill people in the darkness while feeling completely awesome. Even though you won't be utilizing this improvement in broad daylight, it's still a situational item that might be helpful!

Why it’s amazing:

  • Useful for stealthy combat in darker rooms
  • Also useful during nighttime
  • This upgrade provides a clearer image overall

Where to find it:

You can find it early in Volga, in the terminal area in a room full of confiscated goods

Stats:

Improves vision at night.

2. Armoured Helmet

Makes Artyom’s head less penetrable.

Although being shot in the head is typically fatal, this helmet can keep you alive in the worst cases. Getting this item is the best course of action if you value being more direct in battle. Bullets, shrapnel, and mutants that decide to nibble on your head will cause less harm to you.

Why this item is awesome:

  • Artyom is always more capable when his brain is not leaking from his nose
  • Provides some protection against bullets, although don’t use it as a shield
  • Useful for Rambo-style players

Where can you find it:

It’s in the Caspian zone, kill the bandits on the wrecked ship and the helmet should be located in the first zone.

Stats:

Capable of withstanding more shots than the default helmet.

1. Helsing

What’s this exotic tool?

Crossbow, that is. It may seem pointless in a game like Metro, but you couldn't be further from the truth. It's really one of the game's deadliest weapons, since one bolt can easily kill the majority of people and monsters. This weapon may be customized with a variety of modifications so that it can be used in playstyles other than stealth.

Why Helsing is awesome:

  • Bolts are easy to find
  • Can be used in many playstyles, whether stealth, direct combat, etc
  • A long list of attachments that affect rate of fire, power and accuracy

Where can you find it:

You can find it in the Taiga section of the game, they’re pretty much everywhere.

Stats:

  • High damage output
  • Decent accuracy
  • Low rate of fire(can be modified though)
