Best RP maps are here, bud:

Hi once again guys, welcome to my article - I’ll be telling you a lot about awesome RP maps that I have played on MULTIPLE times over the years of playing Garry’s mod. They’ll be fit for different sorts of RP’ing, such as CityRP or Post-apocalyptic RP maps and plenty more!

The maps are pretty diverse when it comes to content, some of them appear to be normal-looking cities, some of them are wastelands, sometimes they’re even underground. Let’s get to it then, sweethearts!

10. RP Hogwarts

You’re a wizard, harry.

Harry Potter fanatics will want to crucify me for placing this map at the 10th spot, people who hate Harry Potter will crucify me as well for even including this map on this article. But hey, the map has everything you need for an HP RP - classes to practice your spells in, a dining hall, a church(?) or something, and plenty of stuff that you nerds will find attractive <3!

What’s fun about this map:

• The castle placed on a hill makes it very scenic

• Pretty large building able to fit in all of the servers player base
• Spells ‘n’ shyt!

9. RP Bangclaw

A claw that bangs.

Bangclaw is a map that’s very popular in darkRP maps, but you know what’s also popular on this map? Plenty of minging and getting away with murder(RDM) - I remember playing on this map on some darkRP server solely to torment the server population with my infamous trolling - blocking the spawn point, RDM’ing, random arrests, and mic spamming. ONLY TO GET AWAY WITH IT WITHOUT GETTING BANNED and continuing it for the next few days. Ah, good times!

What’s fun about this map:

• Pretty high skyboxWW2-themed supports aircraft vehicles
• Plenty of enterable buildings
• Custom sounds/soundscapes

8. RP Harbor

I played this goddamn years ago!

This one is also pretty decent, the map offers little land and plenty of water which is perfect for HarborRP. I remember owning a fairly large boat and catching fish in nets. I decided to venture further only to get KOS’ed by some guys in a levitating metal base. I doubt it that this specific server is still around, but if it is I highly suggest trying it out cuz this map is awesome!

What’s fun about this map:

• If you hate walking, this map is for you!
• A large ocean with a few chunks of lands
• Opens new ways for RP’ing!

7. RP Kielce

Hey, a map that takes place in my country!

This map is WW2 themed, supposed to take place in an occupied Polish city - there are plenty of interactable buildings, streets and propaganda posters to immerse you even more. It’s a pretty fun map with the eye-pleasing interior design of certain buildings, besides that, it’s perfect for WW2 occupation RP servers - awesome for oppressing and awesome for starting uprisings! 

What’s fun about this map:

• Cool interior design of formal buildings
• WW2 server trolling is always entertaining

6. RP California

I’m going going, back back, to Cali Cali

A map pretty similar to San Ranevo, palm trees, sandy coast, and a visibly warm climate - it offers plenty of buildings - housing apartments, churches, gas stations, governmental buildings such as a police station, a jail, and even a church, just perfect if you’re into RP’ing as a priest! A very nice map if you’re into west coast-styled maps with plenty of cityRP content!

What’s fun about this map:

• 21 apartments, 8 large houses
• Has a few different map sections(The city, industrial, etc)
• It also has unique buildings which pavesof  the way for unique RP’s!

5. RP City 17

Do you want a non-compliance verdict?

I played some Half-Life RP servers and one day I stumbled upon this map, it was pretty massive, with plenty of underground tunnels and interactable buildings. The setting of the map is supposed to be dystopian/grim, and it does a very good job at creating a sense of loneliness everywhere you go. From my experience, I always minged in servers like HL2RP and when I didn’t, my “RP’ing” was awful. Still, fun times and I suggest this map to anyone who likes dystopian stuff!

What’s great about this map:

• Does a great job of creating a dystopian atmosphere
• Big underground tunnel system
• Plenty of hidden bases(in case CP’s want to bash your head in)

4. RP Truenorth

A cool town map

This map has a cool natural touch to it, but my favorite part about this map is the town itself, how cool it is designed and how much it differentiates itself from other cityRP maps - it makes you feel like you’re in a place hundreds of miles away from civilization!

Another thing that you’re gonna notice is the lack of skyscrapers - a small level of urbanization is another rare thing in RP maps. If you’re sick of Evocity, then Truenorth is surely for you!

What’s great about this map:

• Low levels of urbanization Ferris(no skyscrapers, tall buildings, nexus)
• Plenty of unique locations(the steel factory, mines, etc)
• The map also has a natural aspect to it

3. RP Florida

Do you know the Florida Man?

I unfortunately do. But that’s a topic on a different article, here I have to tell you about this awesome map that’s located in Florida. Why did I pick this map? It’s like a better man's California, the natural setting is more appealing to me and so is the city - there’s a nice beach with a ferris wheel similar to the one in San Ranevo. This map even has a casino, so if you spent a whole week grinding money printers and you wanna throw it all away, here’s your chance! Give it a try, besides a casino it has MANY, MANY more unique locations for you to discover!

What’s great about this map:

• Palm trees, bruh. Palm trees.
• There’s also a metro system if you’re too broke for a car!
• The legends say that The Florida Man is roaming around this map, looking for alligators.

2. RP Metro Refuge

The modern world 2 years from now on!

There was a time once, a very, very, very long time ago(around 8-9 years), when I’ve found a Metro 2033 RP server on this map and damn, it was fun. You could find loot like weapons, food, flashlights, etc. The tunnels can be disorienting, cuz they’re extremely dark and they’re gonna make you poop your pantaloons. A very grim, underground map full of potential for horror/RP gamemodes that’s unfortunately not very popular, yet very good. I suggest you to give it a look!

What’s great about this map:

• The design of the starting zone is surprisingly pretty cozy, very immersive, and makes you feel safe.
• The tunnels tho, are not so nice anymore(in a good way). They’re dark, and we all know that dark=spooky, thus they create a very scary atmosphere at times.
• There’s even a song to listen to once you’re in the bar :)

1. RP Pripyat

G e t  o u t  o f  h e r e, STALKER!

This map, like RP Metro Refuge, has an apocalyptic theme to it, but here you’re out in the open, surrounded by a completely dead, obliterated city - and that’s what made me put this map in the TOP 1 spot - I love apocalypse-themed maps and this one just simply takes the cake from all the maps that I can remember - it’s perfect for RP’ing(militaryRP, StalkerRP, etc) and it’s very large.

The map is filled with destroyed, yet still, interactable buildings, some of them were even based from the actual city of Pripyat - pretty cool. I don’t imagine a better map for ApocalypseRP, this one has everything that it needs and it’s clear that plenty of the author's heart was put into this map, truly the best in my eyes and I highly advise all of y'all to give it a look!

What’s awesome about this map:

• Some of the locations were based on actual buildings in Pripyat(Ferris Wheel, Hospital, Kindergarten, etc)
• Day/Night feature
• The map even has anomalies that you can die too if you want to :>
• Overall cool map design(A farmhouse lifted in the air by gravitational anomalies)
• Radiated areas that might kill yo ass!

So yeah boys, I’m exhausted and barely alive, but I gotta share my summary of my article with you - quantity wise, RP city maps were the most dominant in this article, but quality-wise, Pripyat/Metro took the cake and landed in first/second places. But in the end guys, I love all of these maps and I respect the work put into them by their authors, it was a pleasure writing this article, and once again, I highly advise you fellers to check ‘em out, ENJOY!
