[Top 5] Friday the 13th Best Weapons

Friday the 13th game Best Weapons
Eye for an eye, weapon for a weapon.

Friday night at Camp Crystal Lake has been unexpectedly turned upside down, and Jason Vorhees is hungry for his revenge! The time has come where you’ll have to defend yourself against Jason to escape the map. Of course, you’re going to need a sturdy weapon to help you get the job done. With a long list of obtainable weapons in the game, there is a handful of essentials that will give you an extra edge when it comes to sticking it to the man in the hockey mask.

Wondering which weapon will pose the biggest threat? There certainly is a juicy selection of options to choose from, but all that glitters is not gold. Let this list help you to distinguish just what you need when it comes time to battle.

So get a hold of those weapons, because we’re going Jason hunting!

The Weapons and What They Do

In total, there are thirteen weapons scattered around the maps for counselors to use. Each weapon is given a score out of four, with 1 being the least effective and 4 being the most. Each weapon is specifically ranked by the amount of damage it causes, its stun ability, and the durability of the weapon itself. These include:

  • Stun: how good the weapon is when it comes to striking Jason and rendering him immovable for a few seconds
  • Damage: how impactful the weapon is when it connects with Jason
  • Durability: the time a specific weapon lasts before breaking

Certain perks can help to improve all three of these categories. For example, using Man At Arms on counselors can help to allow weapons to last longer, thus increasing their durability. Sucker Punch helps to increase the overall chance of stunning Jason with a weapon, while Thrasher can help to increase the weapon’s damage.

With all of this knowledge in mind, let’s get down to business.

5. Baseball Bat

Batter up!

Utilized with the perfect perks, the baseball bat is a strong contender for one of the best weapons in the game.

  • Stun: 4/4
  • Damage: 2/4
  • Durability: 1/4

While its ability to cause Damage is average, its ability to Stun Jason makes it a guilty pleasure with many players. This is the ideal weapon for stunning Jason all game and running him around the map while the rest of the counselors complete important Objectives. The least effective part of the bat is its weak Durability, though using it with a counselor who has excellent luck or is equipped with the Man At Arms perk can help improve that. When in the hands of a counselor with brute strength, such as Buggzy, he’ll be hitting home runs with Jason’s head in no time.

4. Flare Gun

Add some “flair” into your life!

With style and flair, this is truly an underrated weapon that can stun Jason long enough for you to slither away.

  • Stun: 4/4
  • Damage: 3/4
  • Durability: 1/4

What makes the Flare so incredibly unique is the fact that it can be used in many ways. While most utilize it for shooting Jason directly in the face, leaving him blindly stunned, others use it to notify fellow counselors as to their whereabouts. This, in turn, can make other counselors aware that you’re with Jason. In other instances, the Flare has been shot up into the midnight sky as a way to notify counselors without a map where significant items are, such as the car or boat. Despite its low Durability and the fact that it can only be used once, its impressive Stun ability will distract Jason long enough to help you run away. Finish that off with its strong Damage score, and the Flare is a tempting weapon of choice.

3. Machete

Machete improvises.

Never forget Old Reliable! To this day, the Machete holds up as one of the most useful weapons in the game.

  • Stun: 1/4
  • Damage: 3/4
  • Durability: 3/4

Plain and simple: the Machete is key in terms of surviving the night. Not only is it one of only two weapons that can be used by Tommy Jarvis to deliver the final blow in killing Jason, but it also aids in actually knocking Jason’s mask off. These elements alone make it one of the most important weapons in the game, and why it sits comfortably in the top 5. However, its low stun rate adds a certain aspect of risk. When it comes to getting to Stun Jason, the Machete falls flat. Still, its equally high scores in Damage and Durability contribute its claim as a long-standing weapon with plenty of strength to back it up. Knocking Jason’s mask off is a major step in killing him, so grab a Machete and get to work!

2. Shotgun

I call shotgun!

As one of the most sought-after weapons in the entire game, you’d better make your only shot count.

  • Stun: 4/4
  • Damage: 4/4
  • Durability: 1/4

The discussion of the Shotgun is rather tricky. While some consider it to be one of the weaker weapons because it only contains one bullet, others consider it to be the smartest choice of weapon when it comes to defense. The Shotgun is undoubtedly handy when it comes to getting the chance to Stun Jason, which buys you several seconds as he falls to the floor. Of course, you’re going to need to make sure your aim game is on point, as the player countrolling Jason can duck and dodge your shot attempt. There’s simply no question that if the Shotgun came with more bullets, it would be the best weapon in the game. Still, its strong Stun and Damage abilities prove to be crucial when defending yourself against Jason.

1. Axe

May I axe you a question?

Jason’s head is a pile of wood and a powerful axe is sitting right there. Pretend you’re a Lumberjack and get to chopping!

  • Stun: 3/4
  • Damage: 4/4
  • Durability: 3/4

The motherload of weapons comes in the form of an Axe! The Axe is another weapon that is insanely useful when it comes to knocking Jason’s mask off, along with killing him. It’s typically the most common weapon used by Tommy Jarvis to deliver that final blow. The Axe can help to make even the weakest counselor seem like a brute defender. Its Damage power only increases in the hands of stronger counselors like Buggzy and Adam. Its amazing Durability allows it to last for several hits to Jason, especially when equipped with the right perks. Arguably the best weapon in the game, it’s the sort of weapon that makes Jason automatically hate you once he sees you’ve got that wood resting in your palm. Point blank: trust the Axe, and let the bloodshed flow.
