4. Super Mario World

Super Mario World Gameplay Video

Nintendo released their brand new SNES console in 1990, and with it, a brand new Mario game.  Super Mario World is best known for fleshing out the innovations that Super Mario Bros. 3 added to the series, and adding some popular mainstays in the form of various enemies, the cape feather, and Yoshi!

Yoshi is introduced, and immediately becomes a video game icon.  Only a few years later and he is the star of Super Mario World 2.

Many mainstays in the Mario franchise including the Koopa Clown Car, the Koopa Kids’ names, and many baddies!
