[Top 5] Valorant Best Crosshair Colors - Which To Use

We all know crosshairs are important in FPS games, and we know they’re especially important in games like VALORANT. A good crosshair can help you aim better, can offer you more information about where you’re shooting, can assist with lineups, and can help you remain focused.

But most people, myself included, don’t really think about the impact the color of your crosshair has. I usually just go for the color I think looks nice or the one that feels right.

Even so, there are good crosshair colors and bad crosshair colors. And if you’re just looking for the “top 5” crosshair colors, here they are:

  • White
  • Red
  • Cyan
  • Pink
  • Green

But you might be interested to know why these are the best ones, and in what cases should you use them.

First of all, we have to understand that some crosshair colors will put you at a disadvantage based on other settings you might have. The most important setting to keep in mind is “Enemy Highlight Color”. The explanation for that is simple, you don’t want your crosshair to be the same color as enemy outlines and effects. Why? Because it makes your crosshair less visible in some situations.

Example of the crosshair not being visible because of the color.

I’m currently sitting comfortably in Diamond, and I’ve lost rounds and games, simply because I couldn’t see my crosshair in an important situation. The more you have to think about where your crosshair is positioned, the less you can think about what’s happening in the game.

In short, avoid choosing a red crosshair if you have red enemy outlines, and avoid using a pink crosshair if you have purple enemy outlines. Easy.

You might’ve noticed that I did not mention the yellow crosshairs, but why? Are yellow crosshairs that bad? The answer to that is… it depends.

If you have thicker outlines on your crosshair, the color doesn't matter that much, it can still have an impact in some niche scenarios, but if you really enjoy that color you should still use it. The issue becomes more apparent when you don’t have crosshair outlines enabled or if you’re using a dot crosshair.

But why is that the case?

Because of the game’s art style. VALORANT has a very colorful style. The agents, abilities, and maps are bright and vibrant. They have extremely well-made environments with a lot of greenery and light in most cases, and because of that, your crosshair might be less visible in some instances if it is yellow (or a variation of it). Especially in a fight with a lot of abilities.

It’s true that in most scenarios it will not be relevant, but at the same time, if you want to be consistent, you might want to eliminate all the variables that might make it harder for you to focus on your aim.

With all of that in mind, which colors should you use in most instances?

If you have a dot crosshair that you want to be visible at all times, I’d use cyan. It doesn’t conflict with any of the enemy highlight colors, it’s visible on almost all surfaces, it’s different enough from most environments and abilities, and it’s bright enough that you won’t be able to lose it by mistake.

The other great color for dot crosshairs is red, but only if the enemy highlight color is purple or yellow. Red is great for all the same reasons cyan is. It doesn’t conflict with most ability animations, environments, or maps. It’s always clearly visible, and it’s bright enough that you won’t have trouble seeing it.

Pink goes especially well with yellow enemy outlines, and white and green are amazing if you’re going for a classic crosshair. But I would advise using some thin outlines on a white crosshair to make it even more visible.

And that’s about it.

I know it might sound extra or even pretentious in some instances, after all, we are talking about crosshair colors, but I do genuinely believe that it can have an impact in key moments, especially when you’re trying to focus on multiple things at once. With that being said, I hope you found this short article useful, and of course, if your main focus is for your game to look nice and to have fun with it, you can use any crosshair color you want.
