What are builds?

Builds simply put is the style a player prefers to play as. They are the way players express themselves. It is also the different playing styles of players as well as their roles in the fight whether it's dungeons or PvP raids.

 

1. Hunter

A Hunter build is one of the many damager builds in the game. They normally help protect the healer as they are great from afar and playing close up.

In my honest opinion, this build is an amazing build that can be easily learned by new players. My analysis of this build is that it is a perfect mix of ranged and close combat. Making it perfect for players who like playing solo or in groups.

Abilities

Below you will see an image of the bow's abilities or skills if that's what you prefer to call them. The skills can differ if you prefer to play with others as this build is versatile.

Below you will see an image of the skills for the spear, like the bow these can vary from player to player as this build allows for a variety of abilities and combos of skills to be used.

What Hunter Builds Excels In:

• Dealing great amounts of damage.
  • This is due to the abilities chosen. The spear is good for critical damage and causing bleed, while the bow is a beast for critical and headshot damage. This could differ depending on what abilities you choose.
• Versatile ways of playing.
  • One reason I say this is because it can work with a lot of different abilities, and it's great in both range and close-up play.
• Both PvE and PvP.
  • Due to this builds weapon choices this makes them great for both PvP and PvE, it has the capability to be great at both if the player uses it right.

Use This Build If... 

• You like both PvP and PvE.
  • The reason is simple, this build is perfect in both and if used right will excel in both.
• If you like to play from afar and close to your foes.
  • This build is made for that exact reason and excels at this role.

Build details: Most commonly use a Bow and Spear, their armor ranges from light to medium.

2. Tank

The Tank is one of the first builds in the game, and their role is simple it’s to tank damage and agro the enemy so that the damagers can take care of them. 

In my opinion, this is one of the best tank builds in the game if not the only true tank build. It's the best at both protecting its allies and aggroing its foes. My analysis is that every group should at least have one tank in the team.

Abilities

Below you will see a list of abilities for the sword and shield, this is the only weapon that has two aggro abilities. This is one of the best options out there. The shield holds the agro so you can replace the sword with a flail if you so wish.

(Feel the power surge through your body as you defend your companions).

See below is the highlighted abilities I suggest that you select to use this weapon to its fullest tank potential. Take into consideration almost all the weapons have at least one aggro ability.

(These are the skills that I think benefit this build the most on this weapon).

What Tank Build Excels In:

• Aggroing.
  • This is one of the main things that this build is supposed to do. Their weapons should always be equipped with a carnelian gem, this helps aggro.
• Taking damage.
  • Tanks can normally take more damage than other builds. Because of the higher armor, a lot of tanks boost their health.
• Protecting.
  • Tank builds can draw foes away and they can block foes with their bodies.

Use This Build If…

• You prefer PVE.
  • This build is ideal for lone play if you are set on destroying the creatures the game has to offer.
• If you like to protect your allies.
  • This build is great at taking damager and as part of a team, you become one of the protectors.

Build details: Uses a variety of weaponry, and normally heavy armor. Always have a carnelian equipt in your weapons.

3. Healer

This is also one of the original builds in the game their role is self-explanatory they heal their teammate while still being able to deal some damage.

In my honest opinion, this is one of the most important builds in the game. As for my analysis, it is that people playing as a healer should stick to PvE as it’s better used in PvE than PvP.

Abilities

Below you will see a picture of the abilities that I would use as a healer, I have seen other healers use different ones, but these work better for me. You could use others if they work better for you.

(These are the abilities that work best for me).

Below you can see the selected abilities, the big ones are almost musts for this build/ I like the effect that annihilation’s big ability gives so I unlock some of the smaller ones to achieve it. Take into account that they still benefit me as a healer.

(These are what you would see healers use most of the time).

What Healer Build Excels In:

• Healing oneself and others.
  • This build mainly focuses on healing others, if it can't do that then it’s not a healer.
• Supporting your allies.
  • As a healer, it's the healer's responsibility to heal and aid the allies in the fight with void damage.
• Aggroing.
  • Though a healer always wants to stay as far as possible from the foes, healing your teammates will make the enemies agro to you the enemies always target a healer. Unless there is a tank in the party.

Use This Build If... 

• If you like healers.
  • This is the best build for healing, although there are other healer builds, this one is the original.
• If you're not the best fighter.
  • Because the only fighting it does, is from a distance as its main purpose is the heal.

Build details: Their weapons are the life staff and void gauntlet, with light armor.

4. Paladin

This build is part Tank and part Healer and they are perfect for solo players but they work just as well in a party. They can aggro and heal at the same time. It is not as strong as the original builds.

In my opinion, this build is perfect for solo players. Even though I say that I have seen it in Expeditions and it’s a monster. My analysis is that this is a perfect combo for playing the game alone.

Abilities

Below you can see the abilities that I use in this build, you could change these to suit your own playing style.

As you can see below is the image of the sword and shield. I chose these abilities as they allow a player to aggro and this is important in this build. You could change this but as far as I know, this works the best for this build.

What Paladin Build Excels In:

• Healing.
  • Healing is one of the reasons this build exists, it might not be the best but it still is amazing at it.
• Drawing Foes.
  • As this is a healer and tank mix it can also agro enemies like a tank can.
• Protecting.
  • This build is perfect for protecting as it can also take tank damage. Heal its allies and aggro its enemies.

Use This Build If…

• Like Soloing.
  • This build excels at soloing, but still works really well in a group. 
• Like PvP.
  • This build can excel in the arena if you use it right.

Build details: This build’s weapons are mostly a Life Staff paired with either a sword and shield or a flail and shield, Its armor is medium with a heavy chest piece.

5. Mage

This is another of the Damage builds like all other damagers they are there to deal a great amount of damage. A Mage Build can either play from afar or in close combat and they’re deadly no matter which they play.

In my opinion, this is a great build. It can play close and far and still be great. This is a perfect fit for all the magic lovers. My analysis is that this build can excel well in both PvE and PvP.

Abilities

Below you can see a picture of the abilities. The highlighted ones are the ones I would use for this build but not all prefer them. It’s up to you to find what works for you.

Below you can see the abilities that I play with when I play this build. Not only can you choose others you can also choose the ice gauntlet if you prefer. Or you could play with both gauntlets the choice is yours.

(Feel the power within).

What Mage Build Excels In:

• Element Damage.
  • I say this because this is what the magic weapons do.
• Mastery of the magic weapons.
  • These are the only weapons they play with, and due to this, they can use them to their fullest potential.
• A variety of play styles.
  • As you can play from both a distance as well as up close and personal.

Use This Build If…

• You love both PvE and PvP.
  • This weapon has the potential to excel in both these fields.
• Ranged and close-up fighting.
  • This build allows you to play with range, as you can be close and challenge your foes directly or you could attack from a distance.

Build details: This build weapons, normally includes any of the magic weapons excluding the Life Staff, its armor can vary according to player preference.

6. Ranger

This build is a Damager, but prefers to attack from a distance and is excellent in aiding the other damagers that are fighting closer to the enemy.

In my opinion, this build can be a great addition to most parties. As it can support you from a distance. This also allows the healer some more time to aid the other members. My analysis is that this is one of the strongest range builds.

Abilities

Please look below here are the abilities that I would use in this build, but they can change to meet the player's preference. I find these to work best.

As you can see below are the abilities that I would recommend but it’s everyone's choice in what they want to use.

(Ready take your aim and fire).

What Ranger Build Excels In:

• Ranged Attacks.
  • This is one of the things this build does as its weapons are both suited for this task.
• Damage.
  • It is damager build so it naturally is great at dealing damage.
• Swift Movements.
  • If you play with this build then you know that it's crucial for you to move around to avoid incoming damage to the best of your capabilities.

Use This Build If... 

• You like PvE.
  • I am sure you could play it in PvP but it's not the best at that role, it's far better at PvE.
• Like Playing from afar.
  • This is what I would choose, you can play close range with this build but then you stand a chance of suffering from lots of damage.

Build details: Their weapons are normally a Bow and Musket, and their armor is normally light to medium.

7. Brute

A brute is also a damager build type except they specialize in heavy weapons this allows them to deal a great amount of damage, but this can make them just as slow as a Tank.

In my opinion, the Brute is the perfect build to destroy your foe whether in PvP or PvE. It being slow isn't a disadvantage as it can take a lot of damage and deal just as much. My analysis is that this build is great for solo PvP matches as it deals great amounts of damage.

Abilities

As you can see below I have highlighted the abilities that I play with the most, as they work the best for me, you could change this to suit you.

(Cut your foes into pieces spare none).

Below you will see the selection of abilities that I use on this weapon. But this can change to suit what you like.

(Crush them all under your great Warhammer).

What Brute Build Excels In:

• PvP.
  • It's great at dealing lots of damage and just as good at taking damage.
• PvE.
  • This build is great for dealing damage to a large group of enemies, also known as crowd control.
• Taking damage.
  • It's not as good as a tank's level of endurance but it can handle a good amount of damage thanks to the heavy armor.

Use This Build If... 

• If you enjoy both PvP and PvE.
  • As mentioned before it is perfect for both these types of playing, it can deal lots of damage.
• You love heavy weapons.
  • As this build mostly uses them to play with.

Build details: their weapons are normally heavy weapons with a blunderbuss, and their armor is a medium and heavy mix depending on the player.

8. Warlock

This is a damager build that loves getting close to the action. This build weapon selection can change to suit a player's preferred heavy and magic weapon. Its armor is a mix of heavy and medium to be able to handle lots of damage. Like all other damagers, it can deal big amounts of damage.

My honest opinion is that this build is perfect at what it does, it can cause chaos on a battlefield. By dealing both elemental and Fiscal damage. My analysis is that this build can be a bit difficult to use at first but once you use to it, it becomes a dream. 

Abilities

Below you can see the abilities that I would recommend for this build but it could differ from player to player to match their playing style.

Below you will see the abilities that I would use when playing with this weapon in this build. But feel free to use what suits you.

What Warlock Build Excels In: 

• Causing Multiple Types of Damage.
  • This is due to the fact that this build uses a magic weapon and a heavy weapon.
• Dealing Damage.
  • It’s a damager so it's supposed to deal lots of damage.
• Both PvP and PvE.
  • This build is used a lot in both PvE and PvP, as it is great at both.

Use This Build If... 

• You Love a Heavy and Magic Mix.
  • If that is the case then this build offers you just what you need as that's the only type of weapons this build uses.
• Like Both PvP and PvE.
  • This build can do both and excel in both, it's perfect for both these types of gameplay.

Build details: normally play with a magic weapon excluding the Life staff and a heavy weapon, their armor is normally medium with a heavy chest piece.

9. Cleric

A Cleric in New World is a healer and damager hybrid someone that can heal and deal great damage. It might not sound that great but it is actually very good at both tasks. This build is basically a healer that can defend themselves.

In my opinion, this is one of the best cross builds as it combines a healer and damager very well. It’s not the easiest build to figure out immediately but with practice, this could be a monster. My analysis is that this is a great build for a solo player or a player who loves playing as both a healer and a damager.

See below the abilities that pair best with this build. This secondary weapon can change if you can't play with the flail.

(I have your back companion).

What Cleric Build Excels In: 

• Healing.
  • This build is equipped with a life staff, which gives you the ability to heal others.
• Dealing Damage.
  • This might be a healer cross build but it's able to deal large amounts of damage.
• Aiding Others.
  • Whether it is in healing them or standing side by side in combat this build will aid.

Use This Build If... 

• You Love The Life Staff but like Playing as a Damager as Well.
  • This is almost self-explanatory, as this build is equipped with both a life staff and another weapon.
• You Love Helping Others.
  • This build was designed to aid others in many different ways, whether healing or fighting.

Build details: Their second weapon can depend from person to person but their main weapon is a Life staff. I normally pair it with a bow, and their armor is generally light to medium.

10. Warrior

This is another form of damager, they are fast and deadly. It’s the ultimate Damager build if one knows how to use it.

In my opinion, this build in the right hands could be beneficiary and devastating. My analysis is that this build is quite hard to master.

Abilities

Below is the ability highlighted that I would use on this build but feel free to change them to those you prefer.

(No escaping death is near).

Below I selected the abilities that cause the most damage, at least that is when I play. But maybe I just battel a bit more with the others.

(I will destroy all our foes).

What Warrior Build Excels In: 

• Dealing Mass Amounts of Damage.
  • As I have said this build could be considered the best damager build, its weapon allows a player to deal massive amounts of damage.
• Crowd Control.
  • This build is perfect for dealing with lots of enemies at a time, dealing lots of damage to multiple enemies at once.

Use This Build If... 

• If You Like a Set of Ungangeble Weapons.
  • This build only uses a spear and greatsword, no other weapons are used in this build.
• You love Playing Both PvP and PvE.
  • This build can conquer the fields in both PvP and PvE as it's perfect at both if used correctly.

Build details: This build uses a spear and greatsword, and their armor is normally medium.
