Maces in Guild Wars 2 deserve so much better don't they. They aren't always used as much by players because of how slow they seem unlike the tried and tested sword or daggers. Maces still have their use in situations that need a powerhouse that can bring tons of control skills to the table and inflict debilitating effects upon enemies to destroy their break bars.

10. Pact Fleet Mace

More often than not, some of the best weapon skins aren't the most flashy of designs, nor have the most intricate animations that play when they are being swung. The Pact Fleet Mace embodies that simplicity with its rough and rugged steel design but has enough flair to make it to the list. It, along with its Pact Weapon Set brethren make their homes in every player's wardrobe collection with just how cool their designs look overall.

Why they are awesome

• The Pact Fleet Mace has a rugged steel design that is similar to the Pact Airships that were soaring toward the Maguuma Jungle.
• It is subtle, but if you take a closer look at the inner portion of the mace head, you can see that the blue detailed drum inside spins slowly.
• The Pact Fleet Mace is simply a visually-appealing designed weapon that can fit the majority of classes that can use the weapon, no matter what armor set they rock.

• The blood red tassel near the pommel of the mace swings whenever the Bloodstone Mace moves and gives this weapon life.
• With the bright, blood-red color of the bloodstone on the mace, it goes with characters that have a certain sinister aesthetic to them or even revenants.

8. Abaddon Mace

Abaddon was once a part of the Six Gods of the human race until he was vanquished and replaced by Kormir. The Abaddon Mace quickly crushes its foes spirit with its unique visage and makes for an awesome mace skin.

Why they are awesome

• If you take a closer look at the grip of the Abaddon Mace, you can see that there is some ancient Krytan inscription on it in blood red.
• The tendrils on the head of the Abaddon Mace swings and moves whenever it is swung and moves on its own, making the head feel alive. This is a key feature of the Abaddon weapon set and can be quite unsettling for some players.
• If you take away the eerie animation of the tendrils, you are left with a beautiful, dark gothic mace with lots of pointed edges that ensure a debilitating blow from every swing.

• The rings surrounding the Scientific Mace spins and rotates around the head of the weapon while being wielded and stays still while sheathed.
• The green accentuates parts of the Scientific Mace, giving it some much needed highlights to the dark areas of the skin.
• The rugged, steel aesthetic may seem a bit crude, but the design fits with the crafted aesthetic of the Scientific Mace.

6. Stellar Knobkerrie

• While sheathed, the Stellar Knobkerrie remains still and lifeless until the player begins to use it. Once unsheathed, the arcane magic within it shoots forth from the mace head and envelops it.
• The  emerald green mace head of the Stellar Knobkerrie rotates as the spotlights in it glow subtly.
• The mace has a very intricate design, from the cogs that adorn the pommel to the etching on the grip and is an underrated skin.

4. Sikandar

We don't really know what to tell you guys about this incredibly off-putting mace other than it is one of the weirdest mace skins that the player base deemed to not just be awesome but also creepy. Sikandar writhes and wiggles, asking for its demise as its existence only knows pain and misery. We ask those who crafted this unique weapon one very simple question: Why?

Why they are awesome

• As creepy as the mace is, Sikandar has its fans especially those who love Full Metal Alchemist and the obvious reference to a certain unfortunate event.
• This fleshy mace is fully animated, moving around while being wielded and while sheathed.
• Sikandar gurgles and growls, as it is in fact, a living creature that you are wielding as a mace.

• Combine a Mini Failed Attempt, Gift of Souls, Philosopher's Stone, and an ascended mace with the stats you want in the Mystic Forge.

3. Plasma Mace

Plasma is one of the states of matter, is stated to be electrified gas, and is featured prominently in the Plasma Weapon set.  While majoirty of the player base get the skins for the swords and shields, the mace deserves some bit of praise for being unique in its utilization of plasma. The Plasma Mace is not a weapon to be taken lightly and is just as deadly as it looks.

Why they are awesome

• The Plasma Mace features spikes that jut from the head of the mace with nothing but plasma and the overwhelming powers of science!
• Speaking of the spikes, while unsheathed, the plasma activates and elevates the spikes on the mace head. Upon being sheathed, the spikes settle back into the mace head.
• From the spiked endcap to the grip of the Plasma Mace, the many intricate details line this powerful weapon.

2. Eureka

Eureka is not just a fancier way of expressing your enthusiasm with your colleagues and friends, but is one of the second generation legendary weapons in the game. Its hardy looking appearance lends itself quite well in battle and has seen its fair share of fans. While Eureka is often compared to other weapons with similar flaming motifs, this weapon skin just takes things up a notch with it being a legendary weapon.

Why they are awesome

• Aside from the fact that it is a legendary weapon with all the abilities they all share with one another, as a skin, Eureka surrounds the arm holding it in flaming obsidian shards.
• When Eureka is unsheathed, flaming obsidian shards burst from the floor, erupting in a spectacular display. The hilt surges with electrical energy toward the mace head which is formed by molten obsidian. Eventually the mace head cools and turns into a darker color while having small embers appear on it.
• While you have Eureka on your character, you leave behind footfalls that drop flaming obsidian shards with each step.
• Projectiles launched from Eureka are transformed into flaming balls of spike obsidian.
• Eureka has a distinct sound effect while it is being swung. It sounds much deeper and heavier than ordinary maces.

How to get Eureka:

Because Eureka is a second generation weapon, it is not available to be purchased at a trading post and can only be created in the Mystic Forge by combining the following items:

• Endeavor - precursor
• Gift of Eureka
• Mystic Tribute
• Gift of Maguuma or Desert Mastery

1. The Moot

Despite Eureka being a fantastic legendary mace, there is simply no denying how much more popular the first generation legendary mace, Moot, is. When this awesome mace appears, it is always one hell of a party. You can expect gatherings to always be fun and exciting when players with this mace join your party or squad.

Why they are awesome

• Aside from the fact that it is a legendary weapon with all the abilities they all share with one another, as a skin, The Moot is basically a massive disco ball on a stick, bringing the party to you every single time. The disco ball rotates slowly as lights flash around it.
• When The Moot is unsheathed, a burst of dazzling light bursts from the player's body and shrouding the character with a sparkling aura.
• As you are carrying the weapon on your character, you leave behind a trail of glowing square disco dance panels as you move around.
• An additional effect that whenever you swing The Shining Blade, you leave a trail of confetti and sparkles around. You may even hear fireworks as a sound effect while the weapon is being used.
• All of the projectiles that come from this weapon are changed from the standard model to shimmering disco balls.

Closing Thoughts

Just because maces are underutilized and under valued by the majority of the player base and opt to use other weapons, don't underestimate these masterful bludgeons. Maces have just as much right to have decent, and pretty skins just like the rest of the weapons in-game, and could use way more love.
