[Top 10] Empires and Puzzles Best Heroes to Ascend
Ascend them up now

Up, up, and ascend!

Ascending heroes in Empires and Puzzles is definitely one of the most crucial things to do in the game. After all, you wouldn’t want your arsenal of Level 1 heroes to be trampled on by their much, much stronger Level 80 and many-times ascended counterparts, would you? But with ascension items - particularly those for Legendary Heroes - in short supply, which heroes are worth investing in all the way? Here is our list of the Top 10 Empires and Puzzles Best Heroes to Ascend.

10. Treevil

Treevil

Tree, but evil

Don’t be quick to dismiss 3* heroes, as some of them are worth ascending - and Treevil? Definitely one of them.

His Archaic Dread is an arsenal of bad news for his foes: it deals 250% damage to all enemies and gives them a ton of debuffs like -54% attack, -56% defense, and -44% mana generation for 6 turns. Treevil pays the price by having his mana speed at Very Slow - but with Rush Attacks being a regular thing in both Tournaments and Wars? It just makes Treevil a thing of villainous beauty to be used by then!

What Makes Treevil Great to Ascend:

  • Deals 250% damage to all enemies
  • Gives all enemies -54% attack and -56% defense for 6 turns
  • Gives all enemies -44% mana generation for 6 turns

9. Scarlett

Scarlett

Killing you softly with one eye closed

Despite the many other heroes available in the game, OG Heroes are still worth your ascension items, especially if you’re a newer player - and Scarlett over here is a great example of why.

At Fast Mana Speed, her Blade Barrage deals 215% damage to the target and minor damage to nearby enemies, and it also dulls their attack power by -34% for 6 turns. Considering ascending her gives her more stats, especially her attack power, bringing her up to maximum ascension levels may make her a mainstay in your arsenal of heroes. OG doesn’t mean weak - and Scarlett is here to prove it!

What Makes Scarlett Great to Ascend:

  • Has Fast Mana Speed
  • Deals 215% damage to the target and nearby enemies
  • Gives them -34% attack for 6 turns

8. Lady Woolerton

Lady Woolerton

Mary’s Little Lamb

Let’s face it: healers are among the most important heroes in your roster, and ascending a variety of them is always a good idea - especially if they’re as useful as Lady Woolerton, who’s summonable from the Seasonal Event Springvale!

She’s among the very few heroes who can heal at Fast Mana Speed - and she heals all allies for 40% health, too, with her Smooth Treatment! The caveat is that afterward, she can’t gain mana for 2 turns - which can’t be dispelled. But if the board is on your side, you may not even feel this at all, considering she’ll soon be ready to heal your team again. Now that’s not a ba-ba-bad thing!

What Makes Lady Woolerton Great to Ascend:

  • Has Fast Mana Speed
  • Heals all allies with 40% health
  • Better stats will get her to heal again after 2 turns of not gaining mana

7. Jott

Jott

Jott fist!

One of the finest 4* heroes summonable during Valhalla, Jott is a great hero to ascend considering he enhances his element’s shields on the board for his own benefit - and yours, too!

While at Slow Mana Speed, his Ice Boom, once unleashed, deals 200% damage to all enemies. However, he also has an effect on the Ice shields on the board, as they get +64% attack when cast from Jott’s side, and -57% attack when it’s from the enemies’ side. It’ll be easier to whack down at enemies’ HP with Jott on your team - especially if you’re facing Fire enemies!

What Makes Jott Great to Ascend:

  • Deals 200% damage to all enemies
  • Enhances Ice shields on the board to have +64% attack when cast from Jott’s side, and -57% attack when cast from the defender’s side

6. Jack O’Hare

Jack O'Hare

A bunny for your thoughts?

Like most heroes summonable from the Springvale Seasonal Event, using Jack O’Hare has some form of drawback to it - but it’s a risk worth taking!

His Reckless Slash deals 180% damage to all enemies, but at the cost of him getting -20% defense for 3 turns - which can’t be dispelled. Ascend him all the way to make sure he’ll last long enough on the battlefield given the downside of his ability. However, considering its Fast Mana Speed? Jack O’Hare will soon be ready to attack all his foes again. His slash may be reckless, but it’s certainly never useless!

What Makes Jack O’Hare Great to Ascend:

  • Has Fast Mana Speed
  • Deals 180% damage to all enemies
  • Better stats will help him withstand 3 turns of having -20% defense

5. Garnet

Garnet

Ki-lling you softly

A summonable hero during the Ninja Tower event jumps right into our list, and she’s very much worthy to be included!

As with all ninjas, the effectiveness of Garnet’s Awaken Ki and ability to boost health depends on how long her mana has been charging - which is why ascending her to maximum levels is a must, in order for her to unleash her strongest abilities in battle! At 100% mana, she boosts the health of all allies by 180 and makes them immune to new status ailments for 2 turns. At 200% mana, the health boost becomes 400, and their immunity to ailments goes up to 3 turns. At 300% mana, this goes up to a whopping 720 - and their immunity extends up to 4 turns! We do love our health boosters, and Garnet is definitely way up on our list!

What Makes Garnet Great to Ascend:

  • Depending on her mana charge, she can:
    • Boost health from 180 up to 720
    • Make all allies immune to status ailments from 2 to 4 turns
    • Better stats will make her last longer in battle

4. Faline

Faline

Bend it like a Cat-ham

From the Starfall Circus event comes the next hero on our list, and like those from her family her attack comes with a debuff on certain heroes, too!

Faline’s Chakram Kick, at Fast Mana Speed, deals 250% damage to the target and nearby enemies. But that’s not all, as of those three that were hit, the one with the highest base mana speed among them gets punished for it - by way of them getting -44% mana generation for 3 turns. For this reason, she’s a very good hero to use for countering heroes with Very Fast Mana Speed - and a very good one to use in general, provided she’s ascended all the way!

What Makes Faline Great to Ascend:

  • Has Fast Mana Speed
  • Deals 250% damage to the target and nearby enemies
  • Hit target with the highest bast mana speed gets -44 mana generation for 3 turns

3. Toxicandra

Toxicandra

If only everything evil looks this flourishing

Summonable from the Challenge Event League of Villains, Toxicandra may sound like deadly poison - but she actually brings forth only good things to your team!

Her Accelerated Growth makes her - a villain! - one of the best healers in the game. It recovers 30% health for all allies, makes them regenerate a moderate amount of mana over 3 turns, and cleanses status ailments from all allies - all at Fast Mana Speed! Ascending her will only make her last longer - probably enough to secure a permanent spot in your defense team, even. Good thing she’s on your side if you summon her - she’s a pain in the neck otherwise!

What Makes Toxicandra Great to Ascend:

  • Has Fast Mana Speed
  • Heals all allies for 30% health and cleanses status ailments
  • Makes all allies regenerate a moderate amount of mana over 3 turns

2. Clarissa

Clarissa

Staff of Power!

A Hero of the Month from 2020, Clarissa is definitely a dangerous hero to encounter - so you better hope you have her on your team, instead!

Her Miasma Mace is a menace at Very Fast Mana Speed. It deals 135% damage to the target and nearby enemies and comes with 224 Poison damage to them over 2 turns. It may not seem much at first, but again, considering her mana speed? It won’t be long before every one of her enemies is poisoned, especially if they don't have a cleanser. What’s more, she deals extra damage against Holy! And she’s fantastic to deploy alongside other Dark Heroes considering she gives them +30% defense against Special Skills for 4 turns, which can’t be dispelled. She’s awesome through and through - and more so when ascended fully!

What Makes Clarissa Great to Ascend:

  • Has Very Fast Mana Speed
  • Deals 135% damage to the target and nearby enemies
  • Gives them 224 poison damage over 2 turns
  • Gives all dark heroes in the lineup +30% defense against Special Skills for 4 turns

1. Cobalt

Cobalt

Is there anything he katana do?

Another Ninja reaches the top of our list, and Cobalt really, truly deserves the spot - so better ascend him quickly soon as you summon him from the Ninja Tower event!

His Katana Rain means a sea of hurt for the enemy considering its massive damage, as well as its high chance of bypassing defensive buffs - including counterattacks. At 100% mana, he deals 290% damage to one target, and it has a 60% chance of bypassing defensive buffs. At 200% damage, he deals 325% damage to the target and nearby enemies, and it has an 85% chance to bypass defensive buffs. At 300% mana? Simply put: pain. It now deals 360% damage to all enemies and has a 100% chance to bypass defensive buffs! Count yourself lucky if you summon him - if ascended fully, he’s one of the best attackers in the game!

What Makes Cobalt Great to Ascend:

  • Depending on his mana charge, he can:
    • Attack one to all enemies
    • Deal 290% to 360% damage
    • Bypass defensive buffs from 60% to 100% chance

Ascend these heroes and you’ll definitely have a great roster on your side, ready to wreak havoc on your enemies!
