There are many armor choices in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but what sets them apart? I’ve spent hours playing in this world, and I’ve learned a lot about the sets of armor. In this article, I’ve clearly detailed the differences between the armor and how it appeals to particular play-styles like melee, stealth, or ranged attacks.

10. Raven Clan Armor Set

Riding his steed, Eivor is preparing to raid a settlement. 

Your starting armor will take you far. What’s better than something free? Something free and powerful, that’s what! The Raven Clan armor is a Raven Aligned armor set. Raven aligned armor sets favor an assassin play style. Upgrading the armor set will surpass the alternatives. With 2 pieces of armor equipped, you get a buff. Your armor increases as your health decreases. Saving you from Valhalla in your most dire moment. With every piece of armor equipped, you’ll have an additional increase of Critical Chance. Maybe you’ll impress mom after all!

What Makes It Great

• The buffs for having 2 pieces of armor come in handy while raising your power level early game. With this perk, the lower your health, the higher your armor stats increase.
• The armor set is styled in the image of what vikings wore more than other armor sets. 
• You will often use the Critical Chance buff from having all five pieces equipped.
• You will get all 5 pieces of armor early on in the game. The buffs awarded will overpower a set of armor with a variety of armor types equipped.

How to get Raven Clan Armor

You get Raven Clan armor by completing the storyline in Norway at the beginning of the game. Once you defeat Kjotve, you’ll get the helmet. This will complete the set, which gets you both buffs.

9. Huntsman Armor Set

Eivor is finishing off his opponent after a hair-raising battle. 

If you’re the fly on the wall in your raiding party, then the Huntsman Armor set will take you far. This set of armor is Wolf aligned. Wolf type armor favors a ranged play style. You can find the Huntsman armor early in the game. This is likely the best ranged armor set in the game. Upgrade it to mythical quality to use through the end of the game. Having 5 of the armor pieces equipped will increase your speed, making you faster than an antriding a panther.

What Makes it Great

• The armor is modeled after English hunters of the 9th century. It is a cool change of character for Eivor. The artwork is unique with its bones.
• You can deal significant ranged damage while avoiding melee.
• Having 2 pieces of armor will give you increased range damage when hitting enemies further than 20 m away. 
• Equipping all 5 pieces of armor will give you an increase in speed. The increase in speed is great for light bow or melee weapons. You can use it to maximize your damage per second.

How to get the Huntsman Armor

In Ledecestrescire you will find the Huntsman Cloak and Helm. You will find the Huntsman Armor, Vambraces, and Breeches in Grantebridgescire. The Armor piece is in Ravensburg. The chest is in the soldiers’ barracks on the northern side of the fort. The Huntsman Breeches are in the main building at the Soham Hideout. You can find the hideout in northeast Grantebridgescire. The Huntsman Vambraces are in Besuncen Tor beneath a waterfall. Dive in the pool beneath the waterfall to find a passage with the chest. You will find the chest in Northwest Grantebridgescire. The Cloak is in Northwestern Ledecestrescire in the Templebroough Fort. In the northernmost building you have to climb a ladder to enter the highest room. Shoot the platforms to drop to the room below. Then you will find the chest. The Helm is found in eastern Ledecestrescire. It’s in Tonnastadir behind a locked door. The key to unlock the door is in the longhouse. The chest is at the bottom of a dig site. You can exit by using the lift in the dig site. 

8. Magister’s Armor Set

In the day Eivor only does 2 things: sleep and train. He's a sleuth in the night.

Are you a night owl? Do you love shooting your opponents from afar and sneaking a stealth kill? Well then this armor set is for you! With two pieces equipped the Magister’s set will add 15 points to your melee damage at night. The armor set is raven-aligned that straddles stealth and ranged combat with the 2 available buffs. If you love a mixture of melee and ranged combat then this set is for you.

What Makes it Great

• If you love stealth, then pick this armor and wait for the sunset. You get a 15 point melee buff at night with 2 pieces of armor equipped.
• The Magister’s armor is great for mixed combat styles because its stats increase general weapon types
• If you want to change the look and feel of your armor while keeping it a light style, then this armor is great for you. You will like it because this is the newest set of Raven-aligned gear you encounter. 
• There’s a 15 point ranged damage buff for having all pieces of armor equipped. Regardless of your play style, you will find an increase to ranged damage helpful. A bow gives you an advantage in all themes of combat.

How To Get Magister’s Armor

You will find the Magister’s Armor in East Anglia and Oxenefordscire. The Magister’s Robes, Vambraces, and Trousers are in Oxenefordscire. The Magister’s Mask and Cloak are in East Anglia. The Magister’s Mask is found in far eastern East Anglia in a chest at the back of the main hall of the King’s Bury raid. Find the Magister’s Cloak in Serpent’s Landing in northern East Angelia. You will find the cloak in a locked chest at the back of the camp. The key to the chest is in the tent near the cages. The Magister’s Robe are in eastern Oxenefordscire in the Leah Villa Garrison. The robe is inside a building with a destructible rock wall. You can destroy the wall using explosive pots or your Incendiary Powder Trap ability. The vambraces are found in northeastern Oxenefordscire in Buckingham behind a locked entrance. Find the key outside the church to open the door. Head inside and shoot the lock on the ladder overhead. Climb the ladder to find the chest. The trousers are in southeastern Oxenefordscire in Oxeneforda. They are in a church tower. You must shoot a second-story window to get inside. Then, shoot the scaffolding above. Climb to the next floor, where you will find the chest. 

7. Galloglach Armor Set

If the following battle was a music genre, it'd be heavy metal.

You’re mid-game with many weapon types at your disposal. If the Dexter in you is filled with glee at this thought, then the Galloglach Armor set is a perfect match for you. The Galloglach is a wolf-aligned armor set with increased melee resistance and damage buffs. This mid-game set of armor will take the melee-player to late game with certainty.  This set is ideal for a player favoring 2 handed or 1 handed weapons that deal a lot of damage. With high damage, comes heft, and with heft comes little speed.

What Makes it Great

• With 2 pieces equipped, you get an increase to melee resistance when hitting enemies with finishers. It is fun to chain finishers back to back when fighting large groups of enemies. Not only is it fun, it is really effective. This weapon perk makes it perfect for that play style.
• This is a great setup for players who want high damage and low speed. The armor perks and stats favor high damage absorption and lacks speed.
• With all pieces equipped, you get an additional increase to melee damage. This makes for a strong melee play style. You can focus on dealing damage rather than blocking, dodging, or running away.

How To Get the Galloglach Armor

The Galloglach Armor is in the regions Lincolnscire and Essexe. The bracers, trousers, and armor are found in Lincolnscire. The cape and helmet are in Essexe. To find the cape, go to southwest Essexe to Brentwood Outpost. It is in a triangular shaped storage house with a locked door. Get the storage key on the table next to the caged animals. Use the key to unlock the door, then you will find the chest inside. The helmet is found in northern Essexe at Halstead Outpost. The chest is in a room with a destructible wall and barred door. You have three entry options. Blow up the wall using the Incendiary Powder Trap ability. Get an oil jar from the storage room. The storage room is locked. You can find the key inside a boarded up well. Last, you can unbar the door by taking the stairs on the left to the next story. From the stairs, turn right towards the metal grate on the floor. Shoot at the barred door through the grate to open the door. The trousers are located in Bolingbroc Castle in eastern Lincolnscire. You will find the armor in the Spalding Bandit Lair in southeastern Lincolnscire. The bracers are in a chest in Lincoln, a city in western Lincolnscire.

6. Hidden Ones’ Armor Set

Eivor is taking advantage of this armor's most potent perk to silently kill his opponenets.

What’s the best armor for a die-hard assassin’s creed fan? The raven-aligned Hidden Ones’ of course! This armor’s buff increases assassination damage. It’s a perfect mid-game set of armor, for the stealth-loving player. 

What Makes it Great

• Some of us miss the original look and feel of the Assassin’s Creed games. This armor will satisfy the O.G. fan's most out of the available armor. The play style and design harken back to the original Assassin’s Creed games.
• With 2 pieces of armor equipped, you get an increase in assassination damage when crouched and undetected for 10 seconds. This perk is great for stealth loving players. Your assassination damage can make-or-break a stealth kill. You want to do everything you can to increase your assassination damage.
• With all pieces of armor equipped, you receive an additional increase to headshot damage. Often you will use your bows to headshot kill your enemies. Headshots increase the likelihood that you can kill enemies in a single strike and remain undetected. This is a powerful armor perk for all players.

How To Get the Hidden Ones’ Armor

To get the armor, you have to earn it by finding codex pages and the lost Hidden One Bureaus. Then, you get the armor when you return the lost information to your settlement. 

5. St. George Armor Set

Up for a bit of travel? How about taking up some river raiding? By completing the 1st series of quests of the river raid from Vagn you will pick up all 5 pieces of the St. George set of armor. If you have been secretly admiring the fashion of the Templar than the St. George armor is the choice for you. If you love heavy weapons than this build is a great upgrade to Galloglach set of armor. This is the first Bear-aligned armor on the list. Bear aligned armor is a melee class with high defense and low speed.

What Makes it Great

• It’s easy to get this high-mid game armor closer towards the beginning of the game because river raids aren’t as challenging as the regions.
• With 2 pieces of armor equipped, your attack stats increase 30 points after impaling enemies. You can impale enemies using a spear or a great sword.
• Having all pieces equipped will give you an additional increase to speed.

How To Get the St. George Armor

Complete The Saga of Saint George quest with Vagn at the River Raid Dock in your Settlement. You will need to raid 2 maps, the River Exe and the River Severn.

4. Mentor’s Armor Set

With the speed of light and shadow, Eivor decimates hostile enemies.

I hope you don’t get dizzy! No, you’re not drunk. This armor is so fast, you and your enemies will only see a blur. This Raven-aligned set of armor is perfect for a player that loves light weapons and swiftly dodging attacks. With the speed buff from this armor combined with dual daggers, you can flank your enemies for quick kills. This armor is better than the Hidden Ones’ armor because of the buffs and the work it takes to collect all the pieces.

What Makes it Great

• The armor is perfect for light weapons, given its buffs.
• With 2 pieces, your attack increases after critical hits
• When all pieces are equipped, you get an increase to speed.

The Mentor’s Armor full details

How To Get the Mentor’s Armor

The armor is found in Suthsexe, Nottinghamshire, and Wincestre. The robes are in Saint Lewinna’s Church, Guildford, Suthsexe. Enter the church through an opening at the top of the tower. Then break everything possible to get down to the first floor of the main hall. Pull the shelf away from the wall to reveal a door leading into the room with the chest. Pull the shelf over to the ladder to use it to climb out of the room. The vambraces are underground in Anderitum Hideout, Suthsexe. Enter the hideout by looting the camp key from one of the enemies. Or drop into the hideout through the large hole in the center of the grounds. Once inside the hideout, go down the tunnel until you reach a wall with a wooden patch on the bottom. Break the wood and go through the hole. Use the Incendiary Powder Trap ability to destroy the next wall. Watch for the snakes! Follow the tunnel to the end. Shoot an arrow to break the wooden boards at the top of the wall. Then, climb over to the other side to collect the gear. In the Sherwood forest in Snotinghamscire you will find the Mentor’s Mask. It will be in a chest inside a small hut. The cloak is found in the Loch Clunbre Hideout in Snotinghamscire inside a hut. There is a barred door that you have to break open. The trousers are found in south-west Wincestre in Wincestre Garrison, inside a building with four red flags.

3. Thegn’s Armor Set

Eivor is dreaming of battle.

I bet you’ve got a decent trigger finger. Quick-to-the-draw! You are the parry champ. This armor is your destiny because it gives you an increased Critical Chance when parrying. The Thegn’s Armor Set is a bear-aligned set of armor that is a melee-player’s dream. This late-game set of armor is worth the ensuing battles because of its buffs, raw stats, and… Look at those gauntlets!

What Makes it Great

• This armor is ideal for a heavy-weapon loving melee-player because of the armor's stats. This armor's stats are high in defense and low in evasion.
• Having 2 pieces of armor increases your speed when stunning an enemy. This is excellent for leaning into the heavy weapon playstyle while keeping you fast enough to be fun and effective.
• With all pieces of armor equipped, you get an additional increase to Critical Chance. Yo uwill love this perk because Critical Chance plays a dominate role in your offensive tactics with heavy weapons.

How To Get Thegn’s Armor

You can find Thegn’s Armor in Wincestre, Eurviscire, and Glowecestrescire. Thegn’s Great Helm is in a chest in The Old Minister, Wincester. The gear is in a locked chest in the same building as the high point. You need 3 keys to unlock the chests. The 1st key is in a room in the basement of library building. When you reach the room with the key, you will need to climb over the partition to get the key. The 2nd key is inside a room directly below the high point. From the balcony walk to the side where you see boxes against a window. Smash the boxes and slide below the window. In the room you’ll find the key. The 3rd key is on top of the rafters spanning across the building’s interior. From the courtyard of the Old Minister, shoot the window on the floor above the access door. Go through the window to get to the secret room and open the chest. Thegn’s Cloak is found in a chest in Bishop’s Residence, Wincestre. It’s on the second floor behind a barred door. Thegn’s Bracers are in Stenwege camp, Eurviscire. They are inside a building with a locked door. Thegn’s Heavy Tunic is found in Temple of Brigantia, Eurviscire. Find the large statue in the ruins and then dive underwater. Search for an entrance leading deeper underwater through tunnels. Be careful to not run out of oxygen! Thegn’s Breeches are found in Aelfwood, Glowecestrescire in a locked cave.

Want to light up a room? Feel like a god? Thor’s Armor is a rare and powerful set of armor that you get very late into the game. The artwork and stats are tremendous, especially for heavy weapon enthusiasts. With an additional increase to stun buff, you can hit your stride with blunt heavy weapons. 

What Makes it Great

• The armor is beautiful and the tasks to find it is cathartic. Some of us love a good adventure. Embark on an epic adventure to find legendary armor.
• With 2 pieces of armor, you get an increase in speed when stunning an enemy. This perk is powerful for hammers, flails, and shields because they have high stun stats. 
• Having all pieces of armor equipped, you will get an additional increase to stun. Combining this with the high stun weapons will make you formidable and constantly performing finishing moves.
• The stats are great for people who like to fight large groups of enemies. With the weapons that pair well with the armor perks, you’ll find yourself dealing melee damage with a high area of effect.

How To Get Thor’s Armor

To get Thor’s Helmet, you must unlock the secret Lerion’s Estate after defeating all the Daughters of Lerion. You will get Thor’s Cape by completing the Breaking The Order quest. Thor’s Gauntlets, Battle Plate, and Breeches are found by defeating the Daughters of Lerion.

What Makes it Great

• With 2 pieces equipped, your armor is increased when surrounded by more than 2 enemies. If you love a good brawl, then you will love this armor because of the increase in armor. This armor is powerful in large groups of enemies.
• Having all pieces equipped gives additional melee damage. Combine this armor with a powerful melee weapon set, and you will be unstoppable with this perk.
• This armor is best paired with close range melee weapons, so you can take advantage of the buffs. The armor has high armor and damage resistance stats. It makes the armor a perfect combination with close range melee weapons.

How To Get the Brigandine Armor

You can find the armor in Sciropescire, and Cent. The cape is located in Quatford, Sciropescire in a cave behind a destructible stone wall. Use your Incendiary Arrow ability to destroy the wall and open the chest. The helm is in the Wenlocan Outpost, Sciropescire inside one of the caves behind a large block. The gauntlets are in Beamasfield, Cent inside a locked chest in the northern side of town. Use Odin’s sight to find 2 nearby keys. The armor is in Canterbury Cathedral, Cent in the cathedral. Approach the northern side of the cathedral. Climb the scaffolding and enter through the missing window. Walk left and look across the room. Shoot the barricade on the door to unlock the room to the chest. The trousers are in Dover Fortress, Cent in a hidden cavern. Approach the secret entrance on the shoreline of the cliff below the fortress. Walk up a ramp leading to a stone structure. At the top of the ramp, walk to the right to find a destructible patch on the floor. Use your Incendiary Powder Trap ability to destroy the floor to get to the chest.
