Also called the Crater lake, this location is an Oasis in the middle of a dense forest filled with dangerous creatures. Not only does this Hidden Lake provide a safe source of water and many other resources, but it also allows you to consolidate your base and restrict access for both players and unwanted dinosaurs. Located on the North-East of The Island, this location is perfect for Early and Mid-Game. 

Why the Hidden Lake is great:

• There are very few carnivores in the areas 
• Filled with useful resources for Mid-Game 
• 3 access points can restrict the entrance of any foreign player/creature and help you secure the place 
• Great coordinates. It’s close to Far’s Peak, so metal and crystal are easily accessible 
• Giant Beaver Dams are a nice source of wood

Another popular base location is White Dove Falls. The idea of a hidden cave behind a breathtaking waterfall it’s simple enough to convince anyone that the location deserves a place on our list. The coordinates are 27.3,47.7.

To translate this, the majestic waterfall is located right in the center of the Titans Rise, providing easy access to all the major areas of the map, from the Snow Biome to hot climates. The cave has 2 entrance points and although it’s not as easy to defend in PVP, it’s still a great base location for tribes. 

Why the White Dove Falls is great:

• Lots of resources in the area: berries, flint, metal, thatch, wood, stone, and others
• Great spawning locations for Sabertooth and Raptor, if you’re planning on taming one 
• The whole area is quite dangerous, but the White Dove Falls Cave is truly a safe location to build a base for you or your tribe 
• Gorgeous landscape, close to a water source

As the name suggests, this is a place where carnivores simply don’t spawn, so you’re safe to wander around, hunt, and build the perfect home. Safe and full of resources, this location provides all the necessary aspects for surviving and advancing in the game. Then, once you’re strong enough to adventure into the dangerous unknown, the location can serve as a safe oasis in case of need. 

Why the Herbivore Island is great: 

• Carnivores don’t spawn here. This creates the perfect conditions for hunting easily and even taming amazing creatures. It makes it easier to gather resources, level up, and become stronger and stronger 
• It’s a great location to complete the “Photography: Herbivores” quest
• Uncommon resources can be easily found here: Silica Pearls, Oil, Black Pearls and various seeds are all over the place. Even more, the island is filled with all kinds of basic resources 
• A wide variety of creatures live here, from Trilobite and Pteranodon to Pelagornis, Megalodons, and even Basilosaurus.

EXPLORING THE CRYSTAL CAVE | ARK Survival Evolved

The Arch Crystal Cave from Ragnarok makes for the perfect hidden base location. Without the exact coordinates, this place can be quite hard to find, so here you go: the cave is located in the South and it has two entrances at 72.7° Lat, 40.3° Lon, and 72.9° Lat, 41.8° Lon.

DO NOT enter this cave unless you’re already past Mid-Game and you got a strong Wyvern. While it’s a powerful PVP base, filled with Wyvern Eggs, the non-stop spawning high-level Wyverns will surely kill you in seconds unless you’re prepared for the fight. 

Why the Crystal Cave is great:

• It’s full of important resources, like Crystal, Obsidian, and Stone. It can be disadvantageous for a small tribe to construct a base here, as the place is well-known as a crystal source on the map, so choose wisely. 
• It’s the perfect place for stealing a Wyvern Egg, engaging in challenging fights, and even taming a Wyvern, as there is a wide variety to choose from 
• While it’s extremely hard to defend, once you’ve managed to make the cave yours, the whole area falls into your tribe’s domination.

6. Lava Cave, Lost Island

To make your life easier, first, here are the coordinates for the cave: 26.6, 70.6. Located in the South East of the Island, the Cave is as dangerous as it sounds but pretty easy to find. It’s one of the most powerful base locations on the Island, with a lot of designs for possible defenses.

You could protect the cave by building the defenses isolated over the lava, through Clift plates or foundations, the choice is yours. Some advice is to protect yourself from the extreme heat by bringing a Cloth hat, as well as an Otter. 

Why is the Lava Cave great:

• It's one of the strongest base locations for tribes in PVP. 
• One corner of the cave is filled with Metal and Obsidian Nodes. Moreover, the Lava Cave contains the Artifact of the Massive, required to summon the Broodmother 
• Creatures like the Baryonyx, Beelzebufo, Bloodstalker, Direwolf, and Deinonychus have excellent access. This means they have entrance to the artifact and can safely access all parts of the cave.

When it comes to PVP base locations on Crystal Isles, the Dragon Cave is surely number one. It’s the strongest Cave on the entire map and as everyone knows, Caves are the best locations for PVP right now. Moreover, the cave is not only strong but also beautiful.

It is guarded by the Dragon Statue and incorporates breath-taking entrances, with vine walls and old brick. Although it has 3 entrances, the Dragon Cave is easy to guard, as all the entrance points take you into the same tunnel, so a safe defense there should do the job. 

Why is the Dragon Cave great: 

• Turrets can be easily placed on top of Ruins. These are high parts of the caves that offer the perfect shooting angle, so no one can enter the main tunnel without permission. It’s perfect protection. 
• It’s a massive, gorgeous base location, located in the middle of the Floating Island. Even more, the beautiful Dragon Statue protects its artifact in the main chamber, so you should expect visitors that attempt to steal it quite often. 
• The dense vegetation and huge ruins make it a perfect PVP base location. Even more, the easy access to the resources of the Floating Island also makes the cave a great option for a PVE base location.

This one is a stunning base location from so many perspectives. It’s one large room with two entrances, located at 44.3/69.0 and 44.3/68.2 at each end of the room. The entrance points are accessible by swimming up across the basins. This Water Cube is the safest, most amazing underwater location, even allowing players to admire and analyze the sea through its massive glass walls. There are no creatures that spawn here and it’s well-enlightened, so the whole atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing, creating the perfect place for your next base. 

Why is the Genesis 2 Water Cube great: 

• It’s protected from all the creatures of Ark Survival Evolved. It’s just you and the gorgeous view of the sea in this room. 
• You can easily build it in the control room. The only problem is going to be the limited oxygenated space, but with some creativity, any problem can be solved. 
• It’s the best mine for Element out there 
• The Cave is insanely easy to isolate and protect. By correctly placing the Turrets, you can make them unraidable and create infinite building space.

Next, another Genesis miracle. Also known as the Family Cave, the Lunar Cave truly is a breathtaking view. Once you discover this place, you’re going to feel lost both because of the altered gravity and the unique graphics.

This Cave is probably the strongest base location on the map, as you can add up to 26 towers to cover the whole island. The Cave basically defends itself due to its antigravity, so entering it is close to impossible. Once you’ve established a base, you’re probably safe from any unwanted company. 

Why is the Lunar Cave great: 

• Once you reach it, there are no worries about defending it. The antigravity makes it hard for other players to raid the cave, and by simply placing smartly Towers and Turrets, you can  gain control over the entire island
• It’s a huge, labyrinthic location with gigantic chambers. There is an infinite place to build on and construct the best base out there
• The place is an Element Mine. Filled with Element at every corner, it opens incredible crafting possibilities. 
• Stunning views that can’t be compared to anything on the map.

The Labyrinth Cave is huge, incorporating infinite tunnels, a moon pool, and large chambers that offer the most amount of space for your tames. You can build a strong defense without too much trouble and although the Element is not insane, it’s still more than decent.

Moreover, the Cave includes underwater chambers, so even the most unusual underwater tames can access it. The Lava pools, the mysterious atmosphere, and the incredible creatures make this place unique. 

Why is the Fjordur Labyrinth Cave great:

• The best building space for a strong base. There is enough space for all of your tames in the Cave and defense can be easily placed in all strategic locations. 
• If the base is built well, it won’t require many people to defend it, as the design of the cave helps you in every possible way. The Lava pools, narrow tunnels, and terrifying cliffs work all in your favor this time. 
• It’s a great Element source. While it’s not the best element mine from the map, combined with all its other advantages, it surely is the best base location.
