[Top 10] Ark Survival Evolved Best General Purpose Armors , Ark top 10 armors, top 10 Ark Survival Evolved best armors
An armor only won't keep you alive...but it will definitely help

10. Hide Armor (best for Early-Game)

While the Cloth Gear is available from as early as level 3, it’s surely not the best one for your Early-Game. After you’ve discovered the basics, the best thing to do is unlock the Hide Armor as quickly as possible.

Twice as strong, this armor is the perfect start for bold explorations into the wild parts of the map. Its only disadvantage is that it makes its wearer more susceptible to heat, so you have to avoid extreme climates. Also, the armor has a great resource cost, as crafting a full set only requires 82 hide and 33 fiber. What are you waiting for? Start hunting for hide!

The Hide Armor is great for:

  • A strong start. Coupled with strong weapons and good technique, the armor will ensure the protection you need in any hunt. Of course, keep in mind that this only applies to fights that are appropriate for your level.
  • Damage reduction. A full set comes with 100 armor, twice as much compared to the Cloth Gear.
  • Cold protection. Although the Fur Armor is the go when it comes to cold protection, the Hide Gear is an affordable, efficient option until you gather more resources. It provides 85 cold resistance, more than other strong, Mid-Game armors.

9. Fur Armor (best for exploring the Snow Biome)

In other words, the Fur Armor is the perfect option when it comes to cold protection. Apart from the Tek Suit, which can only be unlocked after defeating all bosses, the Fur Armor is the best for exploring any cold area of the map.

Environmental conditions often put you in more danger than actual creatures, so full protection against hypothermia is a blessing when surrounded by snow. The armor is made from Pelt, Hair, or Wool, so it’s quite heavy, but this is a price that must be paid.

The Fur armor is great against:

  • Extreme cold. The armor will protect you even in the harshest climates. It comes with 250 cold resistance, almost as much as the Tek Suit, so go tame that Snow Owl or harvest that Organic Polymer without worries!
  • Damage. It doubles the armor offered by the Hide Gear, offering 40 armor per piece. The whole set comes with a 200 damage reduction, so you can not only feel free to explore the Snow Biome but also engage in challenging battles!
  • The Megapithecus boss. It’s the only armor that can offer you a considerable advantage in this fight.

8. Desert Cloth Gear(best for desert climate)

From the Fur Armor to the Desert Cloth Armor there’s a long way to go. Well.. they are just 5 levels apart, and have quite similar characteristics, with the obvious difference: the Desert Cloth Gear is a meticulously designed suit that protects you from the dangers of the unbearable desert climate. It’s not only useful against extreme temperatures, but also sandstorms and dehydration. It’s quite expensive in terms of crafting materials, but if you’re up against creatures like the Desert Titan, the armor is well worth it.

The Desert Cloth Armor is great against:

  • Heat. It offers excellent resistance in the Scorched Earth, Ragnarok, and Extinction desert biomes. The full set comes with 130 heat protection, so extreme temperatures will not be an obstacle on your way to conquering the map.
  • Sand Storms. The googles provide clear vision in the storm, improving your chances of survival.
  • Damage. From this point of view, its stats are identical to the Fur Gear, each piece giving 40 armor to the player, with a total of 200 for the full set.

7. Ghillie Armor (best for camouflage & heat resistance)

While it provides less physical protection than the Chitin Armor, this set comes with its unique advantages. It’s made out of 26 x Organic Polymer, 40 x Hide, and 18 x Fiber. Comparing the resource cost with its characteristics, the armor is almost charity.

The Hide provides 160 armor, while strands of organic polymer are specifically disposed to disperse heat and keep your body cool in the most challenging climates. Moreover, the leaves added to the suit allow you to become one with the landscape and easily hide in the Jungle.

The Ghillie Armor is great against:

  • Hot climates. With a score of 155, it has one of the best heat resistances available in the game.
  • Damage. The armor is not as strong as the Fur or Desert Cloth Gear, but with 160 protection against attacks, it still offers a substantial advantage in battle and it’s suitable for more areas of the map.
  • Fatigue. It’s the lightest armor available in the game, so it provides incredible freedom of movement. There are no heavy materials to weigh you down, so you can explore the Jungle free as a bird.

6. Chitin Armor( best for resource cost & resistance)

You get a general opinion about this armor just by looking at its name. Chitin is a polymer almost as hard as stone, specially designed by nature to protect thousands of insects, so a Chitin armor is just what you need when preparing for battle.

It's one disadvantage is that heat works against it, making its wearer more susceptible to dehydration and extreme temperatures. One solution that comes in handy is combining pieces of this armor with other sets, so the damage reduction is still giving you an advantage.

The Chitin Armor is great against:

  • Attacks. It has amazing damage protection of 50 per piece, giving the total set a score of 250 damage resistance. The Armor is great for early players, but because of its -35 heat protection, it becomes less useful as you advance in the games and other armors become available.
  • Cold. The Chitin gear comes with 43 cold protection. While it’s not as much as what the Hide armor offers, it’s still a great advantage when you’re exploring cold climates.

5. Flak Armor (bets for damage reduction when you reach Late-Game)

The Flak armor is the beginning of a Late game of Ark Survival Evolved. The incredible damage reduction of this armor opens up so many opportunities, from taming challenging creatures to defeating old enemies.

If its durability is high enough, the armor is even more efficient in Boss Battles. You can use the Flak set for both the Broodmother and the Dragon Boss. It doesn’t offer the best cold protection, but considering its armor points, everything else this armor has to offer can be considered a bonus. Lastly, keep in mind to check drops from level 45 yellow beam loot crates. You might get lucky.

The Flak Armor is great against:

  • Some Bosses that require armor protection, like the Broodmother, the Dragon Boss, or Rockwell
  • Damage. The Flak Gear provides 100 armor…per piece. With a total of 500 armor for a full set, it’s surely one of the best available out there. Even more, it’s cheaper than the Riot Gear and available from as early as level 56
  • Cold. As a bonus, the set adds 60 cold resistance, so the wearer feels comfortable even in freezing climates. However, when it comes to heat, this armor is not that efficient.

4. Hazard Armor (best for protection against radiation in Aberration)

The Hazard Suit appeared in Ark as a Late-Game armor once the Aberration DLC  appeared on the market. Its properties are perfect for the gorgeous, yet cruel environment of Aberration, filled with poisonous mushrooms, irradiated areas, and dangerous caves.

No environmental aspect of Aberration can be considered innocent, not until you’ve double-checked it in the game. The Hazard Armor comes as the miracle that lets you explore any area of the map, while also granting the best heat protection available in the game.

The Hazard Armor is great against:

  • Environmental hazards. These include mushroom spores, poison gas, radiation, and even outdoor radiation from Genesis.
  • Giant Bees. The suit can also be used for safely harvesting honey from Bee Hives, without any health loss.
  • Poison Wyvern and Basilisk poison gas attacks. The Hazard Suit Hat, even worn alone, will completely protect you from the poison of these terrifying creatures.
  • Extreme heat. The suit offers 300 heat resistance.
  • Attacks. Besides its radiation and heat protection, the armor provides great damage reduction, with a score of 325 armor points.

3. Scuba Suit (best for exploring the underwater world)

The total base ingredients for a Scuba Suit give anyone a headache. This is not exactly armor, as it provides close to 0 underwater damage resistance for its wearer. However, if you are an adventurer who wants to discover the mysterious, hidden side of Ark, the Scuba Suit is a must.

The underwater world has to offer as much as the terrestrial part of the game, with unbelievable creatures to tame and new resources to discover. This armor adapts your body to the underwater conditions, providing increased swimming speed, almost an unlimited source of oxygen, and clear water vision.

The Scuba Suit is great against:

  • Underwater conditions. Your character is not designed to survive deep waters. As a beginner, one of the first things you learn is to stay far away from them. With this suit, you are as comfortable as a fish in the ocean.
  • Hypothermia. Another cause of death while exploring the ocean, besides drowning and cruel underwater attacks, of course, is hypothermia. The Scuba set provides 270 old resistance, so it’s an easy fix to the problem.
  • Poisonous air in the Swamp Cave.

2. Riot Armor (best for damage reduction & Boss battles)

Before unlocking the Tek Armor, just as you are about to begin the most challenging part of the Late-Game, the Riot Armor is most likely to become your best friend. providing both incredible protection against damage and torpor resistance, the Riot Gear has created the perfect combination for surviving a challenging battle. It’s a great choice for Boss fights that require increased physical protection and it allows you to safely advance in the game.

The Riot Armor is great against:

  • Torpor. It protects the wearer against the torpor inflicted by any of these creatures/weapons: Pachy,  Thorny Dragon,  Slingshot,  Boomerang, and melee weapons like  Wooden Club and  Electric Prod. However, it does not include poison-like effects like that of the  Pulmonoscorpius.
  • Physical damage. Although the armor it’s difficult to use for general purposes, it’s the best choice available in the game in terms of damage-reduction, offering 115 armor per piece.
  • Cold. As same as its previous version, the Flak Armor, The Riot Gear also adds 60 cold resistance.

1. Tek Suit (best for literally everything)

The Tek Suit is like the ultimate reward for defeating all the bosses. This armor transforms you into the God of the Ark World. Protected against heat, cold, damage, torpor, and radiation, you become undefeatable. Even more, the Armor comes with special features to delight your senses. Infinite oxygen underwater, a helmet with night vision and targeting mode, a chest piece with an integrated jetpack and many more are waiting for you at the end of the road.

The Tek Suit is great against:

  • Underwater conditions grant an infinite oxygen supply.
  • Damage. The armor protects against all the possible damage present in the game. From bites, and torpor to drowning and falls, the Tek Suit is there to keep you alive in any scenario, offering 900 damage reduction for a full set.
  • All dangerous environmental conditions. Incorporated all the features of the Hazard Suit, the armor provides resistance in any climate, poisonous or not.
