The miner that will never let you down!

5. Tek Stryder - Excavation Rig

While not having the best harvesting efficiency for Flint, the Tek Stryder is generally one of the best gatherers due to its ability to connect to Tek Storages. Found in Genesis: Part 2, this dinosaur features a wide array of skills and possible attachments. Considering their impressive capacities, it’s only fair that Tek Stryders require a unique taming process. They are tamed passively, without harm or torpor, using a complex hacking method that implies a variable amount of Mutagel and some completed missions.

What makes the Tek Stryder great for Flint:

  • Apart from its normal attachments, like the Tek Platform and Transmitter, The Tek Stryder can be equipped with an Excavation Rig that will fill up its inventory with resources from just one hit. With a 3-star efficiency, the rig can be used to collect an insane variety of resources.
  • You can combine the excavating rig with the resource attractor rig to create the ideal harvesting combination The second rig will add a 65% weight reduction to any material, including flint, maximizing your gains.
  • What makes this creature unique is its ability to connect to special Tek Storage Boxes, so transporting the flint, as well as other items, won’t be a problem anymore. Just imagine the time saved!

4. Phoenix

If you wish to tame a Phoenix, prepare to play with fire. While it’s not rideable, it can still be tamed using particular strategies that include: flame arrows, oil jars, ember crystal wyvern, flamethrower, and the most efficient of them all: the Fire Wyvern.

This gorgeous creature is an experienced gatherer, combatant, hunter, and living oven. All its features make it incredible for gathering not only flint but all kinds of resources, from sulfur and sand to obsidian and raw prime meat that can be cooked while it’s resting in its inventory.

What makes the Phoenix great for Flint:

  • It has a four-star efficiency rating for flint, as well as other rocky resources like metal and obsidian. With its powerful claw and peck attacks, it can gather flint both quickly and with a high gain per action.
  • The majestic Phoenix is not tamed for solely the purpose of gathering flint. Considering that it’s an advanced tame with a high affinity for flint, you might as well use its abilities to fly over rocky mountains and gather unbelievable amounts of flint on the go!
  • This creature is immune to fire attacks and it has some impressive ones itself, so you’ll never feel threatened by any creature while riding this beauty! Even more, it keeps your flint safe until storage, and it can be ridden without burning the survivor, and without needing a saddle.

3. Gacha

This gentle giant is one of Ark’s favorites due to its many benefits and abilities. In the wild, it drops crystals that contain various resources, and when domesticated, it has 100% efficiency for about 10 resources, including flint. Even more, it has a 50% weight reduction for metal, stone, and wood.

Gachas are just cute monsters. They can be tamed by simply dropping all the items in front of them. They are known to eat everything they’re given, including weapons and other unusual items. Their favorite foods include Plant Species Y Traps,  Snow Owl Pellets (Extinction), walls and foundations, metal ore, delicious berries, and many others.

What makes the Gacha great for metal:

  • Gathering resources, as well as dropping them is what Gachas are known for. They are perfect for creating farms, and while it’s quite tricky, they can be bred. They eat anything and transform it into crystals with useful resources or quality loot, including flint
  • It can learn to craft flint specifically, as well as other resources. If you wish to have a flint Gacha, advance the crafting skill to about 160% and enjoy incredible quantities of metal with no effort.
  • Feeding a Gacha Snow Owl Pellet will give it a temporary crafting buff. However, it doesn’t count as crystal-producing food, so you still have to feed it other items.
  • Lastly, the simplest point is its highest flint harvesting efficiency in terms of gain per action.

2. Mantis

The Mantis is an agile, fearsome creature. Spawned in packs, it can terrify even the most prepared survivor if it’s encountered in a dark, mysterious cave. Its ability to mine flint is well-known in Ark, as it can mine using both its attacks and a mining tool, like the Metal Pickle.

A set of Ghillie Armor can also be useful to protect yourself from its deadly attacks. On the other hand, if trapping is your taming strategy, the best option is to use a single foundation and two ramps to the last opening on the second floor. Prepare some Bug Repellant and some Deathworm horns for feeding and you are good to go!

What makes Mantis great for Flint:

  • It has the highest efficiency for mining flint. Its high gain per action, as well as its speed and agility, make the Mantis one of the most valuable creatures of Ark.
  • The creature can be equipped with both tools and weapons. Have fun and try gathering flint using a metal pick while riding the Mantis!
  • Because it can equip tools, the Mantis can also be used for mining in the dark, as it can hold a torch and enlighten the way.
  • It can easily access caves and other troubling spaces, so you can get your thatch while exploring the mysteries of Ark and searching for artifacts!

1. Ankylosaurus

Lastly, the number one dinosaur for getting huge amounts off flint: is the classic Ankylosaurus. You’ve probably heard about it being the King of mining. The Anky, as the best creature for both metal and crystal, has more secrets that need to be discovered. It’s also the best when it comes to other resources, including rare mushrooms, rare flowers, and, why not, flint!

Due to its very slow movement speed, the Ankylosaurus is easy to knock out and tame. Even more, its saddle is available from as early as level 36, so this creature is a survivor’s best friend in Early-Mid Game.

What makes the Ankylosaurus great for Flint:

  • Its tail club attack gives it the ability to fend off most sea predators and a great number of land predators too. It can protect the harvested resources and deliver them safely to the base.
  • As an exceptional miner, flint makes no exception in its repertoire. With the highest gain per action, the Ankylo is excellent for collecting essential, rocky materials from harvesting ores and rocks.
  • It can be easily carried by a tamed Argentavis, so it can access the best places for mining, including flint! This pair is quite popular for getting incredible amounts of crystal also!
  • Despite being slow, it has a great base carrying capacity and remarkable strength, so it can be used for locally transporting the harvested flint.
