[Top 10] Ark Survival Evolved Best Armor For Bosses, Ark best Boss armors, top 10 Ark Survival Evolved Armors
Is there an armor strong enough to resist the Ice Titan?

10. Scuba

This armor is the dream when it comes to exploring the mysterious ocean, giving its user unlimited oxygen, stamina, and even clear underwater vision. It’s mostly used for gathering unique underwater resources or taming rare creatures.

However, when it comes to boss fights, the armor is even completely useless, not only because there are no underwater bosses in Ark, but also because it grants a total of 5 armor. The leggings are the only piece from this suit that offers minimal protection, but they can’t even protect you from a piranha.

The Scuba Gear is great against:

  • Drowning. The scuba gear provides 20 oxygen per second when in water
  • Loss of stamina
  • Cold. The ocean is not a friendly place. Its freezing temperature and terrifying creatures are just some of the challenges you’ll encounter. The armor offers 270 cold protection when in water.
  • Poisonous air in the Swamp Cave. This makes the armor perfect for exploring underwater caves and adventuring in the deepest waters.

9. Cloth Armor

The Cloth armor is the first armor available to players in Ark Survival Evolved. There’s no way this armor is going to be useful in a Boss fight, but it’s the perfect option for new players. It helps you learn the process of crafting an armor, as well as balancing the cost to its utility. When entering a Boss fight, if you get hit, there’s a chance you’ll be dead anyway, even with a Riot armor on, so the best tip is to let your tames do the work and hit from a safe distance, using powerful guns.

The Cloth armor is great against:

  • Dangerous temperatures. Its protection against heat is the main reason to craft this armor in Early-Game.
  • Cold. It also offers moderate protection against cold in a snowy climate, but don’t count on it to save you from hypothermia.
  • Mild hits. Providing 10 armor points per piece, the armor gives you an advantage in battle if coupled with an efficient weapon

8. Hide Armor

Next, the Hide armor comes as an upgrade to the classic Cloth Gear, providing moderate protection against both cold and damage, but making the wearer more susceptible to heat. We are interested in efficiency during a battle.

As each piece provides 20 armor, it’s surely a better alternative than the Cloth equipment, but it’s still far from convenient in a Boss fight. Use it as Early-Game armor and start adjusting your fighting style to the available equipment. You’ll soon find yourself in the situation of choosing an armor for your first Boss Battle.

The Hide Armor is great against:

  • Damage. It offers 100 protection in fights and it’s quite easy to craft. It’s the first armor that absorbs the shock of a hit, so the damage is considerably reduced.
  • Cold. It provides 85 insulation against cold, giving you the chance to safely explore icy climates if you’re well prepared for the trip.

7. Chitin

The chitin armor is an excellent Middle-game option when it comes to damage reduction. While it doesn’t come with the best cold resistance, and it even makes its wearer more susceptible to heat, it offers great protection in combat.

Each piece provides 50 armor, so a full set offers 250 resistance. To be honest, when it comes to Boss fights, the tames are the most important part. You could even stay away and avoid contact with the creature, so the combat utility of this armor loses points in this matter, as it’s not nearly strong enough to protect you from the hits of a boss.

The Chitin armor is great against:

  • Damage. The Chitin gear is the most efficient armor available in the Early-Mid Game regarding its combat resistance. You can equip it as you prepare for battle or for taming a challenging dinosaur.
  • Cold. It offers 35 protection against cold. It’s not impressive, but it's a nice bonus when fighting in a cold climate.

6. Hazard Suit

This armor can only be found on the Aberration DLC and it's designed to make you the master of the map. However, it takes the 7th place on our top because Rockwell arena is not an irradiated space, so the Hazard Suit is only an accessory that won’t make any significant difference. Defeating the Boss can be accomplished with strong Flak armor.

Of course, keep in mind to craft at least 2 spare sets, you’ll probably need more than 1 armor during the battle. That being said, the Hazard Suit it’s still incredible while exploring the gorgeous, yet terrifying map, and the helmet can come in handy when dealing with a boss in a hot, irradiated climate.

The Hazard Suit is great against:

  • Radiation, mushroom spores. Aberration is a breathtaking map, literally, and metaphorically. Its climate is most often deadly, with dangers at every corner, so an armor that protects against all environmental threats it’s just what you need.
  • Damage. The suit offers 325 armor.
  • Basilisk, Wyvern poison attacks
  • Heat. With 30 protection against heat, this suit it’s perfect for exploring even the most extreme zones of Aberration without any worries.

5. Desert Cloth Gear

This one is amazing for exploring hot climates and resisting sand storms in the middle of the desert. It’s not the usual choice for boss fights, but it will surely come in handy when dealing with the Desert Titan, summoned from its gigantic dome, or with the Broodmother.

The goggles provide clear vision during sand storms, while the other pieces offer moderate protection against injuries. The armor has a total of 200 damage resistance. That’s not much, but used in the right conditions, it can make a difference.

The Desert Cloth gear is great against:

  • Heat. It offers excellent resistance in the Scorched Earth, Ragnarok, and Extinction desert biomes. The full set comes with 130 heat protection, so extreme temperatures will not be an obstacle on your way to conquering the map.
  • Damage. From this point of view, its stats are identical to the Fur Gear, each piece giving 40 armor to the player, with a total of 200 for the full set.

4. Fur Armor

Now we start talking about armor that is truly useful in a Boss fight. What you have to keep in mind is that armors, especially upgraded, durable ones, are truly expensive in terms of resources, as you have to craft more than one set for a Boss battle.

So, in some cases, when you can avoid getting hit by a boss and let your Yutyrannus, Rexes, or guns do all the work, the armor plays a secondary role. The Fur armor is the perfect choice when fighting the Mega, as it provides 200 armor, extreme protection against cold and it has a decent cost.

The Fur Armor is great against:

  • Megapithecus. This boss masters its attacks in a freezing, snowy climate, so protection against extreme weather conditions should be the first thing that comes into your mind.
  • Cold. The armor offers the best protection against cold on dry land, with 200 cold resistance
  • Damage. The full set comes with 200 armor points

3. Ghillie

There are a few things you need to know before summoning the Dragon Boss. One of them is that its fighting arena is incredibly hot, so the right armor plays a crucial role. While the Hazard Suit offers 300 resistance against extremely hot temperatures, it’s quite difficult to craft and the effort may not be worth it.

The Ghillie Armor is probably one of the best options available in this case. With a decent fabrication cost, high protection against both damage and environmental threats and a unique camouflage ability incorporated, this armor is exactly what you need.

The Ghillie armor is great against:

  • Unpredictable attacks. The armor provides its wearer with camouflage, so you have a considerable advantage both while attacking and defending yourself.
  • Damage. Each piece comes with 32 armor, so the total set offers 160 resistance in battles.
  • Heat. It has one of the best heat resistances available in the game, making it perfect for battles that take place in a hot climate
  • The Dragon Boss

2. Flak

The armor you choose for a Boss fight depends on your strategy. If you’re planning to expose yourself and take the chance of getting hit by a deadly, gigantic monster, you’ll surely need strong armor. The Flak gear is just the perfect choice in this scenario, especially if you don’t have the time and resources to craft multiple sets of Ascendant Riot armor.

You can use the Flak set for both the Broodmother and the Dragon Boss, but keep in mind that despite its incredible damage resistance, the armor makes its wearer more susceptible to heat. On the other hand, it’s the strongest armor available Mid to Late-Game, not even so far from the Riot one, and way more affordable.

The Flak armor in great against:

  • Hits. It provides 100 protection per armor piece, so a full set grants its wearer 500 armor in a battle.
  • The Rockwell Boss
  • Cold. It offers moderate protection in freezing climates. Coupled with its incredible strength, the armor is great for a fight against arctic creatures.

1. Riot

The Riot armor is the best one out there, of course, without taking into consideration the Tek armor. As the Tek gear is only available after defeating all the bosses, the Riot armor is the next best option in almost any scenario. Consider getting the Fur armor for extremely cold climates and Ghillie with high durability, gas masks, the Hazard Suit, or Desert Cloth Gear for Boss arenas with incredibly hot temperatures.

Apart from these scenarios, the Riot gear is always the best, but also the most expensive, while Flak comes right after it. This armor provides the same cold resistance as the Flak one but adds 75 more armor points per set.

The Riot Armor is great against:

  • Damage. It is the strongest armor available for players that haven’t ascended. Offering 115 armor per piece of equipment, it’s surely the armor that will keep you the safest. However, it’s always better to avoid getting hit at all.
  • Cold. The Riot armor offers 60 cold resistance
  • Torpor. On top of all these, the set comes with torpor resistance, so you have the upper hand in any battle
