ESL One Events are international tournaments that take place yearly at various locations around the world. Teams will compete in various games to win money from the prize pool, and at this year’s ESL One New York 2017, they have a prize pool of $250,000 for CSGO. The $250,000 will be distributed among the top 4 winning teams.

ESL One events are held and organized by Electronic Sports League. The events are often attended by thousands of fans. At last year’s 2016 ESL New York event, Team Liquid came 4th in CSGO and won $25,000 while the first place was taken by Natus Vincere for a grand prize of $125,000.

Team Liquid is a professional eSports gaming team based in the Netherlands. In January 2015, Team Liquid officially merged with another professional gaming team known as Team Curse. This meant that Team Liquid had now gained team curse’s manager Steve Arhancet (LiQuiD112), his supporting staff, and also their League of Legends, Street Fighter, and Super Smash Bros. teams.

There are a variety of games played at ESL One events like Counter-Strike: Global offensive, Overwatch, Gears of War and Dota. CSGO is one of the most popular games played at ESL One. It is an online FPS game developed by Valve Corporation and Hidden Path Entertainment. CSGO is the fourth official game in the Counter-Strike series.

On the 9th of August on Team Liquid’s Facebook page they posted: “We're happy to announce that we've been invited to ESL One NY 2017! Catch us at the Barclay Centre September 16-17”.
