Brand sets are one of the main concepts experienced the most during The Division 2 and they are probably the most important, next to weapons. 

Your holster, backpack, mask, knee pads, vest, and gloves are all going to be part of a brand set, and depending on what brand set you have is whether or not the attributes are going to benefit you where it counts.

Each brand set has a set of three attributes that get highlighted and put into action depending on how many matched sets you have. 

If you have one piece of Douglas & Harding, then you have +20% Pistol Damage, but the other two attributes are unavailable to you unless you have two more pieces of Douglas & Harding.
