Spider-Man Overview

Bitten by a radioactive spider, Peter Parker went from a High School Outcast to one of America’s most iconic Superheroes.  Fueled by the death of his Uncle Ben, Spider-Man would swing valiantly through the sky, scale the tallest building, and utilize his Spidey Sense to seek out and stop crime.  From teen nerd to an icon, Spider-Man is a symbol for everyone.

Deadpool Overview

Easily one of the most popular superheroes in the Marvel Universe.  One that rose to immense stardom in a very short time.  Wade Wilson/Deadpool is an expert assassin and mercenary.  An expert with a multiple arsenal of weapons such as katana’s, knives, grenades, and guns.  There’s also a very good chance he’s the wittiest superhero in the history of superheroes.

How the Battle Would Go Down

Spidey and Deadpool...standing before a fire that Deadpool probably caused

There’s a big part of me that want’s to write this article as a trash-talking competition and not as an all-out brawl.  I think that would be more brutal than an actual fight, seeing as both Spider-Man and Deadpool are known for their witty wisecracks and insults.  However, if this were to be a hand to hand brawl, it would go to everyone’s Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

For starters, I don’t see these two fighting in a serious manner at all.  There’s a beautiful bromance between these two icons, and Deadpool has a tremendous amount of respect for Spider-Man (Possibly even love <3).  In the comics, we’ve seen them team up more than duke it out, and every encounter’s been a crowd-pleaser.  They’ve fought a wide array of superheroes and villains from the Marvel Universe.  They’ve taken on everything from dinosaurs to zombies, a hitman monkey named Hit-Monkey, and even Richard Nixon.  We’ve yet to see these two duke it out or team up on the big screen but with Disney and Marvel mending wounds, I see this happening sooner than later (I give it five years).  A fight between these two would start with an onslaught of insults before they start trading blows.  Let’s take a look at their statistics and powers to boil down the end result.

Spider-Man is one of the strongest superheroes out there whether it be Marvel or DC.  Some would even argue that he’s too overpowered for being a basic “street-level” superhero.  He can lift a tremendous amount of weight, such as buildings over his head and stop planes.  His Spidey-Sense allows him to dodge just about any attack before he even realizes it.  His web-shooters are his greatest gadget, allowing him to swing effortlessly through the sky and incapacitate enemies with ease.  He’s also one of the smartest superheroes out there, having been blessed with high intelligence before he even became a superhero.  He’s also one of the most moral superheroes and the last thing he would revert to is an actual kill.

Wade Wilson/Deadpool is the exact opposite of the Web-Head.  He’s a highly trained mercenary/assassin with a high level of trash talk to back up his kills.  He’s trained with katana’s, knives, and just about every kind of firearm out there.  His usual intention is to kill just about everything and that includes the heroes from Marvel (which he’s done at ease before, but it’s not canon).  Deadpool has nothing but respect for Spider-Man and some may argue that he’s got a certain level of love for him.  Spidey doesn’t see it in exactly the same way due to Deadpool’s overall moral’s, but he still shares some of the same feelings.

Chances are that a fight between the two would start with some of the best trash-talking we’ve ever seen between two comic book icons.  I can see the fight coming to fruition because Deadpool oversteps his boundaries, which would push Spidey to his breaking point.  The colorful banter would turn into blows and eventually it would get violent.  It could be argued that Deadpool would go for the kill shot right away, but Spider-Man’s Spidey-Sense would allow him to avoid his barrage of bullets and katana strikes.  Spider-Man would go for the attack and at least daze Deadpool due to his increased strength.  This fight would be brief, and because there’s an undying love at the bottom of Deadpool’s heart he won’t go for the kill.  And since Spider-Man’s morals prevent him from ever killing, he’d swing around, land a few blows and have The Merc with a Mouth webbed up and hanging from a light post.  IF the fight were to sway in Deadpool’s favor, I can see him beating the Web-Slinger within an inch of his life but hesitate to inflict the killing shot.  Deadpool would realize what he’s done to his idol and inflict enough damage to himself to be declared the respectable loser (Shooting himself, throwing himself in front of a bus, blowing himself up).  At the end of the day, the two would put their differences aside and end the night by watching one of DC’s smash-hit movies.

Spider-Man and Deadpool, back to back as true BFF's <3

And the Winner Is…

The Winner of this Beautiful Battle of Words...Spider-Man

Spider-Man.  Spidey’s abilities outweigh those of Deadpools.  The amount of love and respect that the two share between one another is too strong for violence to prevail.  Love empowers all!
