Akuma vs Yujiro Hanma: Here's Who Would Win

akuma vs yujiro
What happens when the Demon meets the Ogre?

Only one can come out on top when these two major antagonists face off.

Street Fighter is a renowned fighting game and Baki the Grappler is a popular manga series that has been serialized as an anime. Both universes have incredible fighters and both series have a big emphasis on martial arts and 1-on-1 battles.

Well, each of these series has an ominous, villainous antagonist with an otherworldly aura and utterly monstrous presentations, and latent destructive power. On one side we have the demonic Akuma, on the other, we have the Strongest Creature on the Planet, Yujiro Hanma.

The Demon and the Ogre. These two characters are probably the most powerful beings in their respective universes, and since they share so many similarities as characters, let’s analyze a hypothetical clash between the two and who would come out on top.

Akuma Powers And Abilities

Walking no longer the path of a mere mortal, Akuma lives to battle. The source of his power is his embrace of the Satsui no Hado, the evil, killing intent that lies dormant in the martial art of Ansatsuken.

He had to make huge sacrifices and life-changing decisions to go down this dark path, sacrificing most of his humanity and killing his master, as well as nearly murdering his own brother in the process.

Akuma devotes his existence to roaming the world in search of worthy opponents that can push him to his limits, so he can satisfy his hunger not for blood, but for battle.

List of Powers:

  • Can shoot fireballs from his palms
  • Can make his body phase through matter while moving
  • Ability to parry moves to undo any damage
  • Able to sink an entire island with a single blow
  • Shun Goku Satsu, a multi-hitting technique that can instantly kill

Yujiro Hanma Powers And Abilities

Sadistic and arrogant, Yujiro Hanma is the father of Baki Hanma, the main protagonist of the Baki the Grappler series. He is also the Strongest Creature on Earth and known by many simply as “Ogre”. His feats and accolades speak for themselves and he is without a doubt the most powerful character in his world.

Yujiro Hanma has been known to be able to defeat entire military forces on his own, and he has a body so resilient it can even withstand ballistic weaponry.

He takes pride in his strength and strives to continuously test his limits and the extent of his true power against formidable opponents and crazy odds.

List of Powers:

  • Can cut matter with his fingers
  • Nigh-invulnerability and ridiculous pain resistance
  • Superhuman attributes such as power, speed, and stamina
  • Able to stop an earthquake with his fist
  • Can rip off the face of a skilled combatant with a single blow

How the Battle Would Go Down

Let’s just start by clearly stating that this is all very subjective, and there is no real definite answer. Still, with all we know about these two, we can imagine how a fight between these monsters would play out. At first sight, these characters seem criminally similar, each of them being a monstrous warrior capable of destroying anyone who gets in their path and able to withstand anything that is thrown against them. They even share the trait of wanting powerful opponents to fight rather than having easy wins, always seeking to test their power against spectacular fighters around the world.

However, their code of ethics couldn’t be more distinct, and that is further evidenced by their personalities and how they act during a fight. Yujiro Hanma is incredibly proud of his strength and will boast and get quite arrogant as he starts to beat his foes in a sadistic manner. Akuma, on the other hand, is fueled by rage but respectful towards his opponents in battle, only willing to deliver the final blow if he deems them powerful enough to deserve it.

Right off the bat, neither of them would go all out at the beginning of the fight, as they would only reserve their full force after they could confirm the need to do so and the worth of the opponent, so they would likely begin to spar aggressively, but not with full intent. It’s important to note that as both these guys have superhuman awareness, they would probably be able to tell that they’re fighting against an equal before the first punch is thrown, but they would still not reveal their full potential right away.

As the fight would progress, Akuma would showcase his vast toolkit and arsenal in battle, being probably able to surprise Yujiro with his teleport and demon flip techniques. As most blows would result in little to no damage to Yujiro, Akuma would have to resort to the use of fireballs and the like to get the upper hand. Given Yujiro’s speed, he would be able to dodge these fireballs with ease after he sensed the damage they could cause, and the fight would probably drag until Yujiro would be forced to reveal his “demon back” and fight at full potential, forcing Akuma to use some of his defensive abilities such as the Goshoryuken and the ability to parry attacks to take no damage.

In the end, Akuma would need to resort to his ultimate technique, the Shun Goku Satsu, an unblockable attack that will instantly kill the opponent with a multitude of rapid blows, if they don’t empty their soul in time. As the concept of emptying one’s soul is not something that Yujiro Hanma is aware of, and given that he often regards martial arts with some contempt, prioritizing raw strength over spiritual and transcendent techniques, he would most likely fall victim to the Shun Goku Satsu.

And The Winner Is...

With the information that we currently have about these two devils of destruction, we can only conclude that Akuma would eventually come out on top after a fierce and intense battle, as Yujiro Hanma, in all his might, has no chance of surviving Akuma’s ultimate technique, the Shun Goku Satsu, also known as the Raging Demon. In the end, it would be Akuma’s back that would be turned to his fallen opponent, with the big “ten” symbol (ultimately representing immortality) burning bright, rather than Yujiro’s “demon back” ending up turned to a fallen Akuma.

Hopefully, you could get to know more about these two characters and imagine what it would look like if such an epic battle was ever to take place. Again, this is all very subjective as both these guys come from different universes with different rules, but with all we know, this is the definitive conclusion.
