5. Software Inc.

This is a creative take on traditional building games. The goal is to create a software empire from scratch. One has to begin with creating the offices and layout of the software headquarters, and then turn to hiring talented employees.

Employees can be trained to increase their skills and talents. The building layout affects how employees work and function.

Outpace the competition, and perhaps you will be able to buy them out. Currently Software Inc. is a Steam Early Access game, which means the developer is continuing to work on it, and is attempting to create a better version. Although the full version has not been released, reviewers continue to give Software Inc. stunning reviews for the compelling gameplay and beautiful scenery.

Thanks for the nice list Christina! I really enjoyed playing Empire TV Tycoon and Game Dev Tycoon as well. But hey, it is really hard to choose the favs, when somebody is into the genre! Please let me mention my game, called Computer Tycoon! It is the first game about Computer evolution in which you start your own company back in the 70's. Some say it is the "Steve Jobs Simulator", and indeed although the game is a grand strategy and management hybrid, still you have some RPG like elements as well. :) It is currently under early access, so people still can alter its future by their opinion.
