World of Tanks Blitz features most of the iconic tanks used before, during, and shortly after World War II and that means there are plenty of tanks to choose from. While this is great in terms of choices, diversity, and longevity of the game, it can be very confusing for new and old players alike to choose which tanks are worth grinding for and keeping and this is especially true for the mighty German Tech Tree that features iconic tanks including the Tiger 1 and the King Tiger

If the constant buffs and nerfs are any sign, one thing is constantly true for World of Tanks Blitz, it is that not all tanks are equal, some are just more dominant, fun, and easy to use. Knowing which tanks are the best for every tier for the nation a player likes can make the game a more relaxing and fun pastime.

We will skip tiers 1-3 as there are no choices in which tank you can play and you will most likely breeze through these early tiers.

WoT Blitz Best German Tier 4 Tanks

Let’s start the list with Tier 4. In this tier, you will be introduced to a new type of tank, the tank destroyer. While you most likely will not spend a lot of time in this tier, it is still a great tier to earn credits, get some practice and enjoy.

Best Tier 4 Tank: Panzer IV D

The reliable Panzer IV G

• A good top gun with reasonable penetration, average hit point damage, and damage per minute.
• The Panzer IV D is a mobile tank that players can practice doing circles of death around slower heavy tanks. This will be especially handy when encountering Tier 5 heavy tanks such as the KV-1!
• The gun is reasonably accurate and players can keep their distance while shooting at enemy tanks without dunking every other shot.
• Leads to most of the German Tech Tree including the light, medium, and heavy German Tanks!

Second Best Tier 4 Tank: Hetzer

Small but nasty, the Hetzer

• The Hetzer is a small, deadly, sneaky, and surprisingly mobile tank destroyer.
• It is a very small target, coupled with the subpar dispersion of most lower tier tanks and the tank’s sloped armor, the Hetzer can be a hard target to hit and penetrate.
• The gun on this tank can work wonders, with great shell penetration, rate of fire, and average hp damage. Any player can deal good amounts of damage.
• Players can easily relocate when spotted, flank, or go with the team with this tank destroyer and its 42km/h top speed!

Wot Blitz Best German Tier 5 Tanks

Tier 5 is not the strong suit of the German Tank line but it teaches valuable lessons to new players, positioning, patience and a peek a boo style of play that is characteristic of German Tanks, especially the heavy tanks.

Best Tier 5 Tank: Panzer IV G

A great product of German engineering Panzer IV G

• The Panzer IV G has a good gun with good average hit point damage, accuracy, and shell penetration.
• With 160 average HP damage, this tank is ideal for peek-a-boo playstyle, especially when trading shots with low alpha damage medium tanks such as the Crusader, T-34, and Type 34 whose top guns sacrifice HP Damage for the rate of fire.
• It has decent frontal armor that can bounce shells but do not rush in, use your mobility to your advantage to reposition, flank, and circle enemies.
• Using hills and ridges is a possibility with the tank’s good turret armor and 8 degrees of gun depression

Second Best Tier 5 Tank: Stug III G

The mobile tank destroyer, Stug III G

• The Stug III G has the highest damage per minute out of all tier 5 tank destroyers and most other tanks in tier 5
• It is very low to the ground making hiding in small obstructions and terrain easy
• It is very mobile with a possible top speed of 50 km/h going forward and 16 km/h going in reverse.
• Armor penetration will not be a problem since it has above-average armor penetration for its tier.

Wot Blitz Best German Tier 6 Tanks

Tier 6 is home to two great German Tanks, which are opposites of each other.

Best Tier 6 Tank: VK 36.01 H

The versatile VK36.01H

• A versatile battlefield beast.
• It has a great gun with great shell penetration, average HP damage, and damage per minute. It also has a good gun depression for a heavy tank at 8 degrees, making it possible for you to use hills and ridges to your advantage.
• To couple with the gun depression, this tank has great upper frontal armor and good  turret armor, opponents can have a hard time trying to damage you when you hide your lower frontal armor
• The VK36.01 H is also not lacking in the mobility department, it’s mobility is comparable to slow-medium tanks which gives it an advantage over other tiers VI heavy tanks and can surprise opponents with its speed.

Second Best Tier 6 Tank: VK 28.01

The mobile and very annoying VK28.01

• The VK 28.01 is A speed demon that can deal massive amounts of damage from the shadows.
• It has a very good gun with good accuracy, shell penetration, and shell velocity.
• Because of its sloped frontal armor design, it can surprisingly bounce shots which is very rare for light tanks in the lower tiers.
• It has 9 degrees of gun depression
• The VK28.01 has the best view range of any tier 6 tank, allowing you to spot enemies before they spot you.

Wot Blitz Best German Tier 7 Tanks

Tier 7 is where you can find some iconic tanks as well as their variations. Having a good tier 7 tank is vital for beginners as the next tier, Tier 8 is home to some of the most powerful premium tanks in the game. If you want a fighting chance, having the best German Tanks possible is crucial.

Best Tier 7 Tank: Tiger 1

The feared Tiger 1

The Tiger 1 has one of the best guns in tier 7 on every tank class. The top gun has great damage per minute, accuracy, and shell penetration. You do not have to worry about how to damage your enemies. You can focus on positioning and angling your armor.

• Armor buffs have given the Tiger 1 good frontal armor and it is especially effective when you know how to angle your armor
• A combination of great damage per minute, shell penetration, and armor allows the Tiger 1 to brawl with any tier 7 tank.
• Despite being a heavy tank and its appearance, the Tiger 1 is reasonably mobile just like its predecessor the VK 36.01H, it is more like a slow medium tank than a true heavy tank
• It has a good amount of Hit Points
• It leads to the Tiger 2 which is also a great tank! So this is definitely worth the grind and effort to fully upgrade.

Second Best Tier VII Tank: Jagdpanther

Sneaky Jagdpanther

• The Jagdpanther is a German Tank Destroyer that has gone from a bad tank to a good tank or even a great tank if played properly thanks to several buffs and changes.
• Similar to the Tiger 1, this tank has a great gun that takes away the worries of penetrating shells and missing enemies for the most part.
• The sloped armor allows the tank to bounce shells even from high-caliber guns.
• It is mobile, allowing you to quickly get into sniping positions. Its mobility also allows you to peak, aim, fire your gun then hide again before the enemies spot you.
• The gun delivers good damage per minute. Make opponents second guess if they should trade or rush you.

Wot Blitz Best German Tier 8 Tanks

Tier 8 is known for having so many tanks both tech tree and premium alike but the German Tech Tree is no slouch in this tier, it has two great tanks that can go toe to toe with all tier 8 tanks.

Best Tier 8 Tank: Tiger 2

The King, the Tiger 2

• The Tiger 2 is one of the best tech tree tier 8 tanks in the whole game thanks to a good combination of factors. German engineering at its finest.
• Firstly the armor, the Tiger 2 has a great armor profile with a thick front plate that is sloped that is very hard to penetrate unless your enemies start spamming premium, even then some tanks will have a very hard time trying to damage you. Opponents will also be annoyed by how thick the Tiger 2’s turret armor is
• The lower front plate is also reasonably thick and popular medium tanks such as the Comet will struggle to pen even the lower plate when not using premium ammo.
• The gun on the Tiger 2 is also a strong point, it has great damage per minute, is very accurate, and has great shell penetration.
• In terms of mobility, it is still reasonably mobile. Medium and light tanks will think twice before trying to circle you to avoid getting shot.

Second Best Tier 8 Tank: VK 100.01 (P)

The baby Maus

• If you thought the Tiger 2 is large compared to the Tiger 1 then you better look at this tank, weighing almost double the Tiger 2’s weight at 120 tons, the VK 100.01 (P) is one of the largest and heaviest tanks in Tier 8, this tank leads to the famous Maus Tank
• This tank has a very thick front and reasonably thick side armor, making it able to go front line, and enemies will have a headache trying to damage you when you hide the bottom plate.
• Peak-a-boo play style will suit this tank because of its above-average Hit Point damage of 460 per shot.

Wot Blitz Best German Tier 9 Tanks

In tier 9 we will see a continuation of the Tiger line and why it is such a great and fun line to grind as well as a monster tank destroyer that is known to shred enemies from afar.

Best Tier 9 Tank: E75

Armor, reliability and a good gun in one package

•  The E75 is known for continuing the combination of a great gun and good armor of the German heavy tank line.
• The top gun’s average hit point damage is above average for the tier at 460 and it retains reasonable accuracy despite the big bump in damage
• The tank’s design is very similar to the Tiger 2, meaning it has a sloped front that can give opponents a hard time damaging you.
• The weak spot on the turret can be easily hidden when using your 8 degrees of gun depression which is a lot for a non-American heavy tank.
• It is still reasonably mobile just like the Tiger tanks.

Second Best Tier 9 Tank: Jagdtiger

Damage per minute? Get the Jagdtiger

• The Jagdtiger is great mainly for one reason, its damage per minute. Coming in at a whopping 3500 damage per minute, the Jagdtiger can easily shred even Tier X heavy tanks that make the mistake of exposing themselves to this tank’s gun.
• You don’t have to worry about shots bouncing, being a proper tank destroyer, the Jagdtiger’s gun has more than enough shell penetration to go through thick armor.
• Speaking of thick armor, the upper part of this tank is very hard to penetrate, if you can manage to hide the lower part of your tank you can comfortably shoot away despite being spotted.

Wot Blitz Best German Tier 10 Tanks

Tier 10 is home to some of the best tanks in the game and some of them are found in the German tech tree.

Best Tier X Tank: E50M

The Roaring E-50M is ready for battle

• The German Medium Tank Line makes a comeback with the E50M, a great all-around tank that is very strong and can make a major impact in Tier X games when played properly.
• Despite being a medium tank the armor on the E50M is very good. It has a great combination of armor thickness and an aggressive slope on the front plate. The turret armor is also very good.
• This tank is very heavy for a medium, if a light tank or another medium tank makes the mistake of ramming against you, they will surely regret it when they see how much damage they receive.
• Despite being on the heavier side of the spectrum, the E50M is still very mobile and has a top speed of 60 KM/H a decent power to weight ratio, and traverse speed.
• The top gun is also a strong point of the E50M. Accuracy is great, shell penetration values are a beautiful sight and the HP damage is good enough to make heavies think twice about exposing themselves to try and fire at you.

Second Best Tier X Tank: VK 72.01 K

• This unique rear turreted German Heavy tank has received some direct and indirect buffs that have propelled it to the Second Best German Tier X tank in the game.
• This tank can use unique consumables and provisions. Tungsten Rounds give you the chance to deal 105-125% average damage. This can mean a large amount of damage since the VK 72.01 K has a large caliber gun that on average deals 640 hit point damage.
• It also has a very strong armor profile. With an almost impenetrable upper plate, a very slim turret despite the gun caliber, and a decently thick lower front plate.
