If you played World of Tanks Blitz you may well remember how overwhelming it was to see all of the available tanks and the excitement to try them all out! However, not all tanks are made equal and some are just simply better than others. With multiple tanks on different classes of tanks within each tier, the British line can be confusing for beginners and veterans alike.
But not to worry here are the best British tanks for every tier, some of which are absolute keepers and should not be sold!

Knowing the best tanks will make your grinding and games much easier. These tanks are also considered great stepping stones to getting better at the game.

We will skip tiers 1-3 since you don’t have a choice on the tank you want to play with. This has been the case since Wargaming chose to simplify the early tiers to help newer players.

WoT Blitz Best British Tier 4 Tanks

In tier 4 you will be given the choice of either purchasing and grinding a heavy tank or a tank destroyer first. 

Tier 4 Best British Tank: Matilda

• The Matilda has great armor which cannot be easily penetrated even by some tier 5 tanks making it very beginner-friendly.
• The top gun is decent, with a great rate of fire and low alpha. This is the trend with British Heavy Tanks. This allows newer players not to be heavily punished for missing shots.
• The Matilda leads to both the British medium and heavy tank lines, you can grind both lines while only playing and mastering one tank!
• A great practice tank for those looking forward to grinding any heavy tank line in the game as it teaches positioning, patience, and angling of armor. This also includes a very popular tactic known as side-scraping.

Tier 4 Second Best British Tank: Alecto

• Don’t let this cute little tank fool you, it has devastating HP damage on its top gun. It can ⅓ of the enemy tank’s HP with one shot
• The Alecto has great concealment, meaning you can fire away at a distance without worries of being detected
• Surprisingly maneuverable for a tank destroyer, allowing you to relocate and avoid enemies.
• It is a great introduction to how to be patient and careful when playing tank destroyers for any nation.

WoT Blitz Best British Tier 5 Tanks

In tier 5 the two best British tanks are opposites. One is a fast and nimble tank that can easily circle enemies and one is a lumbering definition of armor

Tier 5 Best British Tank: Crusader

• Fast and agile. You can easily reposition to get out of danger or to get a better firing spot. This can also allow you to flank enemies and hit them where they least expect you to!
• The Crusader is a great introduction to the playstyle of British Medium Tanks.
• The top gun is an autoloader that can give all players a ton of fun and annoy enemies. It can also deal high amounts of damage in a relatively time frame. Autoloading means you have a certain number of shells you can fire, before having to reload!

Tier 5 Second Best British Tank: AT-2

• Thick armor on all sides, including the back! Wargaming should really call this tank the turtle. To be fair if you keep grinding down this line you will get to a Tier IX Tank called the tortoise!
• Can give opposing enemies terrible headaches and trouble trying to damage you regardless if they are beginners or experienced players.
• While its movement speed is slow when compared to other tanks in its tier, its rate of fire is not. Watch enemy health bars get melted with your fast-firing 6-pdr gun.
• It is a glimpse of the playstyle of British non-turreted tank destroyers.

WoT Blitz Best British Tier 6 Tanks

Tier 6 is dominated by medium tanks, a battle of damage per minute and maneuverability.

Tier 6 Best British Tank: Cromwell

• Very maneuverable for a medium tank, you can easily move around and use the terrain to your advantage
• It has decent gun depression, you can easily shoot over hills and retreat to avoid getting shot back at.
• It leads to one of the best tanks in the whole British Tank line!

Tier 6 second Best British Tank: Sherman Firefly

• A unique tank leads to a Tank Destroyer line
• Has a great gun that has good damage per minute and has above average penetration.
• Has a thick gun mantlet that cannot be easily penetrated
• Your team does not expect you to go front line or to flank.

WoT Blitz Best British Tier 7 Tanks

Damage per minute is the king in Tier 7 across all nations and the British Tanks are particularly strong in this area. 

Tier 7 Best British Tank: Comet

The aptly named Comet is a star in tier 7 due to a multitude of reasons!

• 2850 Damage per minute is one of the best of all tier 7s across all nations.
• Turret armor can bounce shells even from tier 8 tanks
• Has great mobility, you can easily flank enemies to start melting their health bars. You can also start running circles around heavy tanks including those in tier 8.
• Has great gun depression, meaning you can easily use hills, dunes, or other inclinations to shield you from enemy fire while being able to shoot at the enemy.
• It is good even if not fully upgraded. Not forcing newer players to use their free experience or to spend gold on upgrades.
• It is an absolute keeper

Tier 7 second best British Tank: Black Prince

• A heavy tank that has good frontal armor to withstand oncoming enemy fire making it very beginner-friendly.
• Mobility is okay, you can get to the front lines with no problem with this tank
• The gun is great, you can demolish anything that makes the mistake of trying to go one-on-one on you. The premium ammo penetration is plenty enough to go through tier 8 heavy tanks at the front.

WoT Blitz Best British Tier 8 Tanks

In tier 8 the trend of damage per minute as a strong suit of the British tank continues with the bonus of a branch of light tanks. 

Tier 8 Best British Tank: Caernarvon

• Above-average Damage Per Minute for any tier 8 heavy tank, in fact when fully upgraded, it can out damage per minute most tier 9 heavy tanks with its potential damage per minute at 3000!
• A great combination of good frontal upper plate armor and 10 degrees of gun depression makes this a very good hull-down tank, use those hills and ridges to your advantage.
• The turret is also good enough to bounce shells even from tier 9 tanks.
• Shell penetration is not a problem, this tank has above average penetration on its standard rounds.

Tier 8 Second Best British Tank: FV301

• The FV301 is A very mobile light tank that packs a punch with its great gun
• You do not have to worry much about High-explosive ammo unless you are being shot at the back or the sides which are very rare for light tanks.
• Gun depression is no problem, with 10 degrees you can easily use hills and ridges as cover as you unload damage on the enemy team.
• You can also use hills and ridges to spot enemies, when you play this tank you have a top-tier view range.
• The gun has a great balance between damage per minute and shell penetration, you will rarely need to use premium ammo even against tier 9 heavy tanks.
• A great glimpse of the potential of British Tier IX and X Light Tanks.

WoT Blitz Best British Tier 9 Tanks

In tier 9 you will get the opportunity to drive arguably the best light tank in the game tier for tier. 

Tier 9 Best British Tank: Vickers CR

• The Vickers CR is a very versatile tank that combines speed and a great gun.
• You can use a Tier 10 gun of the British light tank line on this tank, it brings both great alpha damage and shell penetration. Heavy tanks especially tier 8 ones will be a big green target in your sights.
• You can use High-Explosive ammo even on heavy tanks, as long you can go to their weak spots to deal massive amounts of damage in a very short period of time.
• With a top speed of 65 km/h, The tank is fast and small, making it a hard target.
• An absolute keeper.

Tier 9 Second Best British Tank: Centurion 7/1

• A great hull down tank with its turret armor being 400mm thick in most areas. Even tier 10 tank destroyers will have problems penetrating your tank through the turret.
• You can use a very unique ammo type with this tank, High Explosive Squash Head or HESH. This is a very high penetration High Explosive shell that can deal massive amounts of damage to all types of enemies as long as you aim properly
• Speaking of aim, aiming time and gun dispersion is good as long as you are stationary.
• While it is not the fastest medium, it is still reasonably mobile.

WoT Blitz Best British Tier 10 Tanks

In tier 10 you will be given the chance to play the great tanks that can easily carry battles. 

Tier 10 Best British Tank: Vickers Light

• It has the most view range of any Tier X tank meaning will spot enemies scouts before they can spot you.
• The Vickers Light is very mobile even for a light tank, you can easily get out of sticky situations, flank or circle enemy heavy or even medium tanks with this tank’s mobility
• It can use fairly high penetration High-Explosive ammo to deal with other light tanks thanks to a very good gun with good damage per minute, shell penetration, and damage.
• This can also depress its gun 10 degrees, making it very versatile when using hills and ridges.
• The Vicker’s may surprise you with the occasional bounce shells when enemies aim for your gun mantlet.
• A tank worth grinding Tier X for.

Tier 10 Second Best British Tank: FV4005

• The FV4005 at stock, with a 50% crew and no additional equipment can do more than 1200 damage in 9 secs. This means that even the beefiest heavy tanks will lose more than ⅓ of their health if they make the mistake of rolling into your line of fire.
• The FV4005 like most of the other British Tank Destroyers has a turret, making it a little more versatile than other tank destroyers.
• This tank is also fairly mobile with a stock top speed of 40 km/h going forward and 18 km/h going in reverse. This gives an FV4005 player a chance to relocate when spotted or hide behind buildings or terrain.
• The FV4005’s mobility also gives players the option to push and play aggressively when the situations call for it.
