[Top 15] Most Immersive Games Ever

15. Doom Eternal - 2020 (PC / PS4 / PS5 / XBOX / Nintendo Switch)

Doom Eternal is one of the best frenzy FPS ever. And the most epic game of the Doom franchise. Play as the legendary Slayer and make your way through hordes of demons and all sorts of infernal creatures. This game will keep you focused due to the high amount of action on the battlefield. Plus, the soundtrack is an eargasm.

Doom Eternal clean and fast mechanics are what make this game brutally good. One of the most interesting things about Doom Eternal is the 2v1 multiplayer experience. In this mode, one will take the place of the Slayer. The other two players will be demons. Slay them or be slayed in a best-of-five round match.

Choose this game if you like...

  • Frenzy gaming. You'll have to face a huge amount of enemies which makes it quite challenging.
  • Infernal atmospheres. The designs of the demons and the environment are mind-blowing.
  • Gore, violence. Lots of blood.

Fun factor score: 100/100

One of the common demons you get to face, a pretty disgusting thing. If this is how a common enemy looks like, just imagine what the final boss looks like.

14. Red Dead Redemption 2 - 2019 (PC / PS4 / XBOX)

Red Dead Redemption is the third game of the Red Dead saga. A western action open-world game set in the year 1899 where you play as Arthur Morgan and John Marston. Arthur is a member of the Van der Linde gang. A group of outlaws wanted by federal agents and bounty hunters all over the nation. The player can follow the story, which is magnificent. Or explore the rich living world freely. This game won over 175 awards. And it deserves it. The graphics are almost perfect and the gameplay is addictive.

Dive into this cowboy's adventure and help Arthur choose a path to follow.

12. BioShock Saga - 2007 (PC / PS3 / PS4 / XBOX / Nintendo Switch / iOS)

My favorite game so far. BioShock is a unique FPS located in the fictional city of Rapture. And when I say unique I mean it. There is a wide variety of weapons but the most lethal weapon is you. The player can modify the character's DNA by using injectable plasmids. This will give superpowers to battle the hardest enemies. You can also biologically modify your body and everything you find to turn it into a weapon. In Bioshock, no encounter plays out the same. This brutal game has a unique design in art deco. The city of Rapture is hidden under the ocean. Exploring it is a beautiful experience. If you haven't played it yet let me tell you this one is a must. Simply a masterpiece.

Choose this game if you like...

  • Intense horror survival shooters with skills that you can change and mix as it pleases you.
  • Captivating stories. The story of Rapture is magnificent.

11. Outlast - 2013 (PC / PS4 / XBOX / Nintendo Switch)

Outlast is a first-person survival horror game. Set in the “Mount Massive Asylum”, Colorado. The player is Miles Upshur. A journalist who's been sent to explore the asylum. A place that has been recently re-opened by the Murkoff Corporation. They have been secretly operating in the asylum until you break into the facility. This game is one of the most immersive and scariest experiences. The mystery of what's going on is presented fascinatingly. Plus it has a detailed world to explore. It has stealth elements and enemies are unpredictable.

The best part is that to create the setting and characters the developers took inspiration from real asylums and insane criminal cases.

Choose this game if you like...

  • Intense violence and gore. This title has graphic violence and sexual content.
  • Tension. Outlast is one of the most terrifying games ever. The atmosphere, sounds, and visuals are incredible. Not recommended if you have a weak heart.

10. Ready or Not - 2021 (PC)

This title is a tactical FPS set in the modern world. You'll play as a fully equipped SWAT officer. Ready or Not has a very realistic experience of what is like to be a SWAT officer. The developers have put a lot of effort into mimicking real SWAT case scenarios. Weapons and chaotic situations are created as real-life replicas. Play a single-player campaign or enjoy the cooperative mode. Both modes are fun to play.

Choose this game if you like...

  • Tactical shooters. It stands out because of the tactical strategy. It is simple to learn and follow.
  • Dark atmospheres. Since it tries to replicate what it is like to be a SWAT officer in real life, the quests will surprise you.
  • Extremely realistic games. The quests are based on crimes that happened in real life. As well as the gear and environment.

Fun factor score: 90/100

9. The Forest - 2018 (PC / PS4)

You crashlanded in a forest inhabited by cannibal mutants and they take your child away. You must save him. To find your child you'll have to survive the dark creatures of the forest and the mutants. Learn and understand how life acts and reacts in this recondite place. Explore to gather resources; Build your shelter and weapons; And scavenge food to survive the day and night. Be careful, at night is when the creepiest things happen. The Forest has a living world that responds coherently to your actions. The mutants can also be afraid of you and will not attack. Your goal is to solve mysterious crimes using your detective skills. Investigate, gather evidence, and find and sell information. Anything you need to help clean the city. The citizens are independent. Each citizen has an apartment, job, preferences, and friends. This world keeps moving on without you which makes it entertaining and surprising to play. In Shadows of Doubt, every single corner is available for you to explore (meaning each door can be opened). And you can talk to every single citizen. To solve the cases you'll have to think like a private detective which is the reason why the game is so immersive.

Another masterpiece. A true gem. Half-Life is an FPS that follows the story of Gordon Freeman and the Black Mesa Investigation Center. Freeman, a physicist of Black Mesa is trapped inside the center facilities after an experiment went wrong. The place has been invaded by alien and mutant creatures. Soldiers of the government arrive at Black Mesa and Gordon will be hunted by them and the creatures. Your goal is to escape the facilities and find out what is happening. In Half-Life 2 and Half-Life: Alyx the player will meet a new protagonist: Alyx Vance. The story of Half-Life is incredibly immersive. The gameplay is already quite immersive and realistic. But the story is superb.
