[Top 15] Rimworld Best Seeds (2021 Edition)

Best Rimworld Seeds 2021
Colony success can ride on a good start.

A good beginning can often spell out a good run in Rimworld, which is why a good seed can sprout your playthrough into something special. By having a strong start, key advantages or a particular scenario can flourish and set the general pace for a colony. Below are a few seeds divined by the community with clear features that would bring any colony an extra edge in survival. [Note: Vanilla and DLC may be necessary to recreate the exact map layouts. If you’re still having trouble, the mod called Map Reroll is your friend.]

15. Seed: strick Location: 29.19°N and 0.73°E

What separates this map from any other messy mountainous variations is that there are up to a total of five steam geysers littered across the open space. If you’re a fan of long-lasting reliable power and don’t mind putting a bit of work in, this is a great map for your needs.

What is great about this seed:

  • Mountainous tile restricts raider spawn directions
  • Up to five steam geysers to exploit
  • River flowing through the center provides early power solutions.

14. Seed: Azeroth Location: 24.79 N and 20.65 W

Coastal and surrounded by the mountain, this map is a delight for beginner or experienced players alike. So long as a decent trap or chokepoint is built in the opening near the southeast, you can develop the colony to whatever shape you may desire.

What is great about this seed:

  • Coastal map in a temperate forest
  • Easily defendable with chokepoints.
  • Great for beginners looking to have a stable experience

13. Seed: dice Location: 7.06S and 14.02E

Rainforest with two of the best stone types there are. Granite and marble will satisfy the aesthetic and defensive needs of your colony while the year-round summer of the rainforest means you won’t have to ever worry about the cold or lack of food getting in your way.

What is great about this seed:

  • Year-round summer to make life easier
  • Marble and granite stone types
  • The mountainous terrain provides defendable chokepoints.

12.  Seed: pond Location: 33.61 N and 10.92 E

For those who are fond of the boreal forest, this is a natural mountain fortress that provides all the benefits of the biome. With huge patches of fertile soil to boot, you can bet that your larders will be full way before the cold winters could bite into your stockpiles.

What is great about this seed:

  • Multiple chokepoints for a strong defense
  • Biome provides lots of wood
  • Fertile soil for easy farming

11. Seed: LunaKitty Location: 21.04 N and 8.44 W

This may look a little cramped at a glance, but it’s hard to ignore the fact that this is a colony completely walled off in every direction save for the south where an expansive river flows. This is easily a superb location for surviving even the hardest space if given the patience and wit to plan and develop the available space.

What is great about this seed:

  • Easily defendable location.
  • Mountain can be exploited to create more building space
  • The large river provides a power solution and slows raiders on approach.

10. Seed: Taco Location: 64.47N and 102.07W

For those who enjoy a nice river for power solutions, this may be a great choice. With a river that cuts right through the center and near a safe defensible pocket of space, it should prove no difficulty to set up a colony reliant on the waters to hold off raiders and flourish with what nature provides.

What is great about this seed:

  • Easily defendable location
  • River available for early power solutions
  • Mountain provides lots of building resources

9. Seed:Awaken Location: 22.63N and 33.76E

If you’re not a fan of small compact maps that are more manageable with choke points but still wish to keep that option, here is a map that has plenty of open space while providing two separate pocketed areas for an easily defendable stronghold. With flanks well protected by the mountains, a base can even be carved inside for greater protection.

What is great about this seed:

  • Areas surrounded by mountains for protection.
  • Large map for those who enjoy it.
  • Huge mountains to the east can easily be developed for late-game fortresses.
  • Temperate forest with a typical winter cycle.

8. Seed: stay off of my property Location: 61.38N 21.73W

From a glance, there’s plenty of open space as well as fertile soil for rice paddies. The temperature here is going to result in cold winters, but with the numerous geysers, there should be no difficulty keeping homes warm. Raiders can only approach from one direction and the water will slow them down if they attempt to not go through the immediate chokepoint down south.

What is great about this seed:

  • Lots of steam geysers.
  • Fertile soil for crop solutions.
  • Large open space, protected by mountains in two directions.

7. Seed: "eggplant" Location: 14.32N and 42.91E

To achieve the effect of this map, you’ll need to set rainfall to the maximum. The result of which is this compact but well-protected space by the beachfront. Ideal for small colonies or maybe a scenario of a summer home. With the only entrance consisting of a small creek, it’s easy to keep most raiders at bay and provide energy as well!

What is great about this seed:

  • Defended by mountainous terrain.
  • The single entrance is improved by a small creek that will slow down raiders and provide power.
  • Compact and suitable for small colonies.

6. Seed: gun Location: 30.87 north and 24.93 east

This map is located near a dirt road, allowing some ease of caravan travel, alongside a nice concave space near a mountain for a decent layout. Raiders can only enter from one direction and there’s fertile soil to hold out on early game crop needs.

What is great about this seed:

  • Large space within a natural alcove.
  • Dirt road for some movement bonus, as well as a potential connection to larger roads.
  • Decent stone options (Sandstone, marble, granite).

5. Seed: cactus  Location: 11.97N and 19.52E

When picking a location in Rimworld, you have to always consider the terrain, available resources, and the general temperature. This map here provides no small amount of stone for building needs and some natural chokepoints for defense. It also helps that the area is located in a year-round summer, allowing non-stop crop growth without worry. This is a solid choice for a stable experience.

What is great about this seed:

  • Year-round summer.
  • Lots of stone (and potentially steel).
  • Numerous choke points for defense purposes.
  • Beachfront.

4. Seed: worm Location: 41.19°N and 46.36°W

This is a beach resort if there ever was one. While the entry point for this map is located somewhere to the southwest, regular raiders will have to wade through the water of the southeast region, giving you ample time to respond to any attacks, as well as forming a chokepoint without needing to build one. Doesn’t hurt that with so much water, it would go great with fishing mods.

What is great about this seed:

  • The beachfront is also the only natural entry point, allowing a chokepoint.
  • Open space with enough soil to start early farming.
  • Natural geysers within mountainous pockets provide a good power source.

3. Seed: intestines Location: 9.15N and 12.23W

As a heads up, to have this exact map, you will also have to do a bit of extra work by reducing rainfall by 2 notches and temperature by 1 notch. In exchange, you get to have your hand son this large tropical rainforest with a scenic beach to go along with it. There are plenty of chokepoints to build with how the terrain is set, and it’s hard to ignore the fact that most of the soil is fertile. Get growing!

What is great about this seed:

  • Natural chokepoints created by random mountain formation.
  • Huge amounts of fertile soil for farming.
  • A nice beach.

2.Seed: 4564564234 Location: 24.94 n and 10.12w

It’s like the mountain threw an arm out and circled up a spot for you to settle in! With the only natural entrance requiring wading through water, raiders will find it difficult to get past without some difficulty. The same, however, could be said about getting out. Even so, the natural geyser is a great bonus to any colony as you won’t need to worry about early power sources.

What is great about this seed:

  • Large space protected by mountains.
  • Natural geyser within said space for energy needs.
  • An additional layer of water to slow down raiders on approach.
  • Even sappers will take a great deal of time to break through to the base.

1. Seed: interstellar Location: 40.47N and 32.03E

It can’t get any safer than this. Surrounded by the mountain and with only one immediate access point, colonies can create a natural bottleneck against raids. If you’ve been having a hard time dealing with defense, this may be just the solution for you! Just remember to keep your guard up for infestations once you’ve dug into the surroundings.

What is great about this seed:

  • Natural bottleneck.
  • Lots of stones for building.
  • Large clearing without losing out on the bonus of a mountain defense.
  • A large patch of fertile soil for early farming needs.
