[Top 10] Best Rimworld Combat Mods We Love!

Best Rimworld Combat Mods
Make fighting a totally new experience

After a huge amount of time fighting off raiders and insane rabbits, combat might feel a little stale or even predictable. Mods are perfect for spicing up your combat life just like every other aspect of the game. The modding community for Rimworld is very alive.

10. Show Draftees Weapon-

Stay aware of what your pawns are holding.

Getting raided demands instant attention and the faster you react the more successful you’re likely to be. This mod adds an indicator to the UI to cut out one step in the reaction process. Instantly know what your pawns have equipped as you draft them for a fight.

How does this improve combat?:

  • Improved base UI.
  • Slightly more streamlined combat.
  • Get prepared for fights faster.

9. ED-Embrasures-

Beefy defenses that enemies can't walk through or over.

Building defenses can be an odd endeavor with the limited base structures in Rimworld. A sturdy wall that offers good cover, but doesn’t allow enemies to climb over is perfect for a well-built kill box. That’s literally what this mod adds.

It just makes sense:

  • Keeps your ranged pawns out of melee.
  • More diverse defense structures.

8. Mortar Accuracy-

Finally, bust out those warheads for the sieging army.

It’s a shame to keep warheads in storage just because your pawns are sure to waste them. In base Rimworld mortars are so inaccurate they’re worthless. This mod fixes this issue by making shooting a mortar based on the pawns skills.

Landing a shot is so satisfying:

  • Demolish your enemies with explosive shells.
  • Launch low-yield warheads at your enemies with actual reliability.
  • Dust off those old bombs you keep in the shed!

7. SearchAndDestroy-

Set the toggle and watch your pawns fight all enemies within reach.

When pawns are in a fight forgetting to micromanage them could be fatal. They’ll just stand around if you don’t give them specific instructions. Toggle search and destroy on your drafted pawns to keep them active in the fight without your management.

SearchAndDestroy makes combat better by:

  • Hands off combat if it’s an especially easy fight.
  • Smarter pawns in combat.
  • Never lose a pawn to that particular brand of brainlessness.

6. RunAndGun-

Keep your pawns a safe distance away, but still in the fight with Run & Gun!

This mod pairs well with other combat mods. It makes it possible for your pawns to fire their ranged weapons while they’re moving. Making combat much more dynamic, this mod changes the way fighting is done in Rimworld.

Make combat more fun with RunAndGun:

  • RunAndGun gives the same ability to enemies.
  • Manually adjust accuracy and speed in the mod settings.
  • More dynamic combat.

5. Avoid Friendly Fire-

Watch your fire, I'm downrange!

Of course, in combat, you’ll have some good melee fighters, and you’ll want to support them with whatever guns you have on hand. You’ll be forced to manually aim your soldiers’ shots if you want to avoid shooting your pawns. With this mod, your pawns will know to avoid accidentally shooting one another.

No more shooting your own guys!:

  • It’s super disappointing to kill your pawns by accident.
  • Avoid Friendly Fire is a toggle so you can turn it off when you need to.

4. Vanilla Weapons Expanded-

Add tons of variety to the battlefield with dozens of new weapons.

Another series of mods by the Rimworld modder, Oskar Potocki. A great variety of weapons are added to every tech level. I recommend all of the Vanilla Weapons Expanded mods in the series if your system can handle it.

Vanilla Expanded makes Rimworld more fun:

  • Huge variety of new weapons.
  • Switch up your fighting strategies with new weapon styles.
  • Utility weapons are included that help with pawns’ work. (Like a meat cleaver for butchering)

3. Defensive Positions-

Everyone to your positions looks like we've got raiders!

Respond to raiders ultra-fast by predesignating defensive positions. Give each pawn their own position in the kill box based on their skill and preferred weapons.

Defensive Positions adds:

  • Take full advantage of your built defenses.
  • Automatically respond to threats.

2. Dual Wield-

Carry two weapons into a fight for a more dynamic fight.

Ever wanted to charge the enemy line dual-wielding pistols or swords? This mod makes that very possible. In the mod settings, you can manually restrict the heavier weapons from being used in this way to prevent people from using two miniguns at the same time.

  • Dual Wield makes Rimworld more fun!:
  • Compatible with lots of other mods and modded weapons.
  • More Dynamic Combat.
  • Enemies can also dual wield.

1. Combat Extended-

A complete revamp of the vanilla combat system.

This is a complete overhaul of how Rimworld does combat. By itself this mod makes combat so much more diverse adding plenty of options to fighting. Everything from changing the way projectiles fly through the air, to making bullets something you have to keep track of.

Overhaul your Rimworld experience with Combat Extended:

  • A whole new fighting system.
  • A huge amount of added mechanics and options.
  • Pairs extremely well with other combat mods.
  • The first mod you need if you're trying to spice up your experience.

Combat in the base Rimworld experience is pretty fun one way or another. It should take hundreds of hours for you to get tired of it, but those hours go by fast with how fun Rimworld is in the first place. When that time finally gets to you the Steam Workshop is stuffed with awesome mods to spice up your game.
