The Paranormal is everywhere, it is ingrained in our culture, from TV to Movies to Halloween. 

Why is this? Why do we celebrate the Paranormal that scare us? Is being scared good for us?

In an apocalyptic world, humans must stay quiet to survive from creatures that hunt by sound and noise. We follow the events of one family as they travel this world to find a quiet and safe place to raise their children and for the mother to give birth. The idea had been done before and not just in movies and that’s because sound can get us killed, and fear is a primal fear that all creatures share. The writing tends to not be solid throughout, but it still entertains. Keeping a child quiet is never easy. 

 

24 Truth Or Dare (2018)

TRUTH OR DARE Trailer (2018)

Tell the truth or you die, do the dare or you die, do neither and you die. The game decides who’s next and the game ends when every player is dead. This is another take on a party game that has deadly consequences. The story feels well written and the scares are well-timed. I've always hated this game. 

 

23 The House With A Clock In Its Walls (2018)

In the walls a clock ticks, this is no ordinary house, for it is old and mysterious, everything has some form of movement to life. A ten-year-old boy is sent to live with his uncle and accidentally raises the dead.  This might have worked better with a more adult rating and cast Tobin Bell as the uncle, this one anyone can enjoy though. 

 

22 The Cloverfield Paradox (2019)

This is the third instalment in the series of movies. In the year 2028 the Earth is suffering from a global energy crisis, the world governments unite and agree to test a new potential source of energy. They send an international team into space and aboard the orbiting space station known as “Cloverfield” After two years of unsuccessful tests the Shepard machine finally creates energy, however, something goes wrong and Earth has vanished. The trailer gives the impression of a well-written movie that is sure to entertain

 

21 Hereditary (2018)

After the death of the secretive grandmother, the family begins to reveal everything about their family. After going to a party he shouldn’t be attending, he leaves his sister unattended and she unknowingly eats nuts and goes into anaphylactic shock, during the race to get to the hospital the sister is decapitated. Later the mother is taught how to perform a seance, this releases a terrifying and murderous force. This movie wasn’t solid, but the effects are good and will entertain.

 

20 Possum

Possum - Official Movie Trailer (2018)

A disgraced puppeteer returns home to his stepfather and must confront the terrifying secrets of his past. The trailer starts with a poem and continues to show some of the stories where something spider-like stalks the man as he tries to solve the mystery,  with that comes a feeling of dark subjects in what looks to be a well-written movie.

 

19 Blood Feat (2018)

A festival celebrating horror movies takes a dark turn when the horror characters, like zombies, come into existence. Something is not right with the host and only those with true horror knowledge will have a chance at surviving the night. The movie requires the characters to know the horror survival rules of each genre that is a zone in this festival, however, the rules change depending on who is telling them. I’d say the best person to survive is someone on the Autistic Spectrum that has a specialist interest in horror movies, as they know what to do and not to do to survive each zone. They should make that a rule one of any horror movie. And yes there are clowns, the host found them on Craig’s list.

 

18 Goosebumps 2 (2018)

This one is more for the children and family to enjoy, as well as fans of the show. Set in a universe where the books are written and magic is real, all sixty-two books come to life and terrorise the town from the pages of lost work. This trailer feels like you’re watching a classic episode. I still do not like Slappy.

 

17 Mandy (2018)

In 1983 a cult of hippies abducted a woman using a biker gang with a taste for human flesh, now the boyfriend will do everything he can to rescue her. The man forges a nasty looking two-handed axe to aid him on his quest to defeat “Crazy Evil”. This trailer shows well-written movies that will have a lot of horror and paranormal elements.

 

16 Slaughterhouse Rulez (2018)

A boarding school has no-go areas and no one is allowed there, especially at night. Something tunnelled up from underground and is killing everyone. Now the students must fight to survive. The trailer shows off what looks to be a well-written movie with good effects, with actors in this movie we should get some comedy as well. Talk about a strange place to find this kind of evil. 

 

15 Apostle (2018)

A man visits a village where dark things are said to exist to save his sister. He must battle the villagers and the dark forces to save his sister. This cult will deliver pain and suffering as punishment. This is one terrifying movie with brutal gore and paranormal as the main elements of the story.

 

14 Paranormal Farm II

On a farm, a paranormal team investigates paranormal activity and soon become the targets themselves. The movie itself looks well made and the story feels well written with some good effects. This is worth a watch if you like paranormal movies.

 

13 The Little Stranger (2018)

A manor hides a dark secret and a family doctor sent to care for a veteran must solve the mystery to survive. A dark entity is in the house and it is always playing tricks on the residents. It is believed to be a child. The trailer shows off what looks to be a well-written movie with good effects.

 

12 Incident in a Ghost Land (2018)

A family moves into their deceased aunt's house, a group invades their home and terrorises the family, who were later killed. Sixteen years later the writer returns to aid her broken sister. What is previously explained as delusions are the souls of the home invaders still terrorising the sister all this time. Now the writer must get rid of the entities before they break her.

 

11 Hellraiser: Judgement (2018)

Pinhead is back and is looking to modernise. Three detectives are investigating The Preceptor, a serial killer who is murdering based on the Ten Commandments. While investigating an abandoned house one detective is taken to Hell, then saved by an angel, he returns with a puzzle box. The movie looks terrifying. The effects are terrifying along with the story.

 

10 The Open House (2018)

After the death of her husband, a mother and son move to their relatives' holiday home, a place where everyone knows everyone, soon the paranormal activity begins. The movie looks terrifying, there are some great effects and some good jump scares. The acting is really good here.

People are disappearing and it leads to the woods. Slenderman is like a mental virus you can’t get rid of, some people will commit suicide to be free of him. This is one terrifying movie that has some dark tones and good effects, as for the story it looks well written.

The Universe gives a man the ability to travel between time and space, however, it comes at a cost and the person he brings back is not the same as they were before. This is a terrifying movie that looks at the downside to cheating death. It looks well written with some good effects.

 

07 Winchester (2018)

A widow is given a house built by the funds of the rifle that bears the family name. She is soon terrorised by the spirits of the people killed by the rifles. She builds the house into a maze that has deadends and will never sleep in the same room twice. This is based on true accounts. The movie looks terrifying with some good effects and jump scares within what looks to be a well-written story.

 

06 Malevolent (2018)

A brother and sister con artist team who investigate paranormal activity are invited to investigate a house and soon come face to face with real entities. Now they must do what they can to solve the mystery of the orphanage entities to survive. This is a terrifying movie with some good effects within what appears to be a well-written story with lots of jumpscares

 

05 Bird Box (2018)

A mother and her children must survive an entity that takes on the person’s worst fear, to survive you must not see.  Bells seem to be the way they announce their presence. It is a terrifying movie with a lot of jumpscares and some good effects within a well-written story.

 

04 The Nun (2018)

Set in the Conjuring Universe. A priest and a novice nun are sent to investigate a Romanian Abby that has dead nuns everywhere. What they soon find out is that Abby was set up to keep an evil entity locked away. This is the same nun that appears in the Conjuring series of movies. This is a well-written movie with lots of scares and good effects.

 

03 Overlord (2018)

Trapped behind enemy lines, four American soldiers must destroy a Nazi lab from producing serum from an ancient black tar, this serum can make the person a supersoldier. The four soldiers take it on themselves to destroy this lab and help win World War 2. The movie has some good effects and scares in a well-written story.

 

02 Halloween (2018)

For the last forty years, Micheal has been locked away, however, Laurie has been praying and preparing for his escape, training herself to kill Micheal once and for all….She got her prayers answered. Micheal is free and he will kill on his trail to Laurie. Micheal Myres is always terrifying. The effects and acting look good within a terrifying story filled with murder count.

Ellie must fight a demon from her past, called “key Face”. Who killed her sister all those years ago. They must search her childhood home for a special whistle in-order to defeat this demon. This is another terrifying instalment in the Insidious franchise. Good acting and effects within a well-written story.
