Top 10 WoW BfA Hunter Macros You Should Be Using

WoW BfA Hunter Macros
Dance puppets, dance!

Do you love playing World of Warcraft, but are feeling like your gameplay could improve?  Then macros just might be the answer you’ve been looking for.  Macros are simple, in-game tools that allow you to customize your gaming experience.  You can link spells, cast different abilities depending on the target, create custom targeting conditions, and so much more.  Whether you want to optimize your PvP play or your raiding experience, macros are super simple to create.  The following list is the ten best hunter macros to use in the Battle for Azeroth expansion.

10. Pet Attack Macros

No matter the expansion when you play as a hunter, a macro to force your pet to switch to the enemy you’re currently targeting is always a good idea. The following are the best pet attack macros for each class of hunter.

  • Beast mastery and survival hunters should tie their attack command to their Kill Command command.  The macro for that is as follows:

    • #showtooltip Kill Command
    • /cast Kill Command
  • Marksmanship hunters should tie their attack command to their Aimed Shot command.  The macro for that is as follows:

    • #showtooltip Aimed Shot
    • /cast Aimed Shot

9. Counter Shot Macro

This macro comes in very handy if you’re up against a warlock or any other spell heavy opponent.  Counter Shot interrupts spell casting and prevents any new spells from being cast for 3 seconds.  And if you’re feeling fancy, you can always combine this with a second attack to get more bang for your buck.  The macro for the single version is as follows:

  • #showtooltip Counter Shot

/cast [@focus,exists,harm,nodead][] Counter Shot

8. Target Nearest Enemy Macro

This macro is very convenient and easy to use, no matter your hunter specialty or preferred playstyle.   It will automatically target the mob closest to you, send your pet to it, start your auto-attack, and put your pet into assist mode.  The macro for this is as follows:

  • /targetenemy

7. Misdirection Macro

This macro will cast Misdirection on whatever player you are currently targeting in your raid or party, misdirecting all threat you caused to the targeted party or raid member for 8 seconds.  This macro will most commonly be focused on your tank.  The macro for this is as follows:

  • #showtooltip Misdirection

/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][@focus,help,nodead][] MisdirectionTrap Macros

6. Trap Macros

These macros will be useful no matter your hunter spec or your playstyle.  They will cast your traps at the location of your cursor. This lets you shoot traps in a single button press rather than having to press it once, aim, then press again. The macros for these are as follows:

  • Freezing Trap

    • #showtooltip Freezing Trap
    • /cast [@cursor] Freezing Trap
  • Tar Trap

    • #showtooltip Tar Trap
    • /cast [@cursor] Tar Trap

5. Intimidation Macro

This macro will send your pet towards your current target and use your Intimidation ability on it if it is within range.  Intimidation commands your pet to stun the target for 5 seconds.  The macro for this is as follows:

  • #showtooltip

/use Intimidation

4. Bursting Shot Macro

This macro automatically stops the casting of your current spell and casts Bursting Shot all in one click.  Bursting Shot fires an explosion of bolts at all enemies in front of you, knocking them back, snaring them by 50% for 6 seconds, and dealing 5% of your attack power in physical damage to all enemies.  This ability can be extremely useful in dungeons or in raiding if your party becomes overwhelmed by a mob and needs a chance to recover and regroup.  In that scenario speed is key, so having this macro is a must for any hunter.  The macro for this is as follows:

  • #showtooltip

/cast Bursting Shot

3. Aspect of the Turtle Macro

This macro will specifically help you reduce major damage during a fight and keep you alive a little longer.  It will come in very handy during dungeons or raids, because it keeps you from dying and allows your healer the time to bring you back to full health.  Aspect of the Turtle is a buff that deflects all attacks and reduces all damage you take by 30% for 8 sec, but it doesn’t allow you to attack.  So while you might need to bring up the aura to hold off fatal damage, but if you don’t want to wait the full duration of the buff to attack again, having a macro that allows you to cast and cancel the aura just by pressing a button twice will save you time and allow you to get back into the game faster.  The macro for this is as follows:

  • #showtooltip

/cancelaura Aspect of the Turtle

/cast Aspect of the Turtle

2. Master’s Call/Roar of Sacrifice Macro

This macro will involve two separate commands, and the modification of the shift key.  It also works the best for hunters who prefer to play PvP.  This macro will instantly call your pet to you using Master’s Call, then when you hit shift and mouse click again, you’ll cast Roar of Sacrifice which instructs your pet to protect you from critical strikes.  So if at any time during a PvP encounter you become rooted or otherwise incapacitated, you can use this macro to deflect some of the damage and then get back into the fight.  The macro for this is as follows:

  • #showtooltip

/cast [mod.shift, @player] Master’s Call(Command Pet Ability); Roar of Sacrifice(PvP Talent)

1. Spirit Mend Macro

For this macro you will need to have a spirit beast as a pet, as Spirit Mend is an ability specific to only that pet class.  Spirit Mend will heal a target for a percentage of the hunter’s attack power and then continue to heal the target for a smaller percentage of the hunter’s attack power over the course of 10 seconds.  This specific macro will allow you to heal yourself with the right click of your mouse and will heal a friendly target with the left click of the mouse.  The macro is as follows:

  • #showtooltip Spirit Mend(Exotic Ability)

/cast [button:2,target=player]Spirit Mend(Exotic Ability)

/cast[button:1,target=target,noharm]SpiritMend(ExoticAbility);[button:1,target=pet]Spirit Mend(Exotic Ability)

Alright guys, those are my top 10 macros that I think every hunter should be using.  I hope you find these helpful and can integrate them into your playstyle in a way that enhances your gaming experience while playing as a hunter.  What do you all think? Are there macros you prefer to use over these, or do you just not use macros at all?  Let me know in the comments below.  Happy hunting!
