Unless you’re hunting for trophies/achievements, most collectibles don’t serve a purpose. For the antique coins in Resident Evil 7, they are beneficial AND earn you an achievement!

There are a total of 18 coins in easy and normal difficulties. Not only do you earn the “Pelicans In Your Pocket” achievement for it, but it can buy you some nice extra items! When you reach Zoe’s trailer after escaping the main house, you’ll have access to small birdcages that hold the items. If you insert the correct number of coins, the cage unlocks.

For 3 coins, you can get a steroid shot to increase your max health.

For 5 coins, you can get a stabilizer shot to increase your reloading speed.

For 9 coins, you can get the 44 MAG handgun for higher damage, but it has less available ammo. The ammo also cannot be crafted.

Antique Coin #1

Where to Find Antique Coin #1

The first coin is tricky and easy to miss! The trick lies within the “Derelict House Footage” found in the Guest House. When Ethan enters the Guest House kitchen, he comes across a locked drawer. With no lockpick to be seen, most people pass it up.

For Ethan to access the locked drawer, you must find the hidden lockpick while playing as Clancy during the videotape. When Clancy unlocks the drawer, he won’t find the antique coin but the drawer remains unlocked for Ethan to go open.

Location

• It is located in the Guest House 1F Kitchen.
• Find the locked drawer in the Guest House Kitchen before playing the videotape so you will know which it is.
• Locate the “Derelict House Footage” videotape on the 2nd floor of the Guest House. Take it to the TV and VCR in the Guest House Livingroom.
• As soon as the tape begins and you have control of Clancy, immediately step back and look on the ground. There should be a lockpick on the ground.
• As Clancy, use the lockpick to unlock the kitchen drawer. Proceed through the rest of the footage.
• When you go back to playing as Ethan, go to the drawer. It should be unlocked with the antique coin inside!

Where to Find Antique Coin #2

It’s easy to get so distracted by fleeing from Jack that you miss coin #2!

After escaping the dinner table and running for your life, you’ll need to escape under the house through a hatch. As you crawl through the hatch passageway, a red lawnmower to the left should catch your eye. Who knows why Jack put his lawnmower under the house, but at least he left a coin with it!

Location

• After you have broken free from your dining room chair, head into the hallway to the left. Head around the length of the hallway to find Jack. Keep going (while running from Jack) until you find a small corner table with the hatch key on it.
• Head to the Pantry on the map to find the hatch. Be quick about unlocking it! If you take too long, Jack chops off your lower leg, forcing you to reattach it.
• Drop into the hatch and crawl along the underground passageway. You should soon see a red lawnmower on your left.
• The antique coin is on the deck of the lawnmower!

Where to Find Antique Coin #3

Luckily, antique coin #3 isn’t as stressful to find! All you have to do is look for a small table with drawers in the northeast corner of the Main Hall. You will recognize it by the small angel figurine sitting on top!

Location

• It is located in the Main House Main Hall area.
• Check the corner for the small table with drawers. Look for the angel figurine on top.
• The antique coin is in the top drawer!

Where to Find Antique Coin #4

Head to the 2nd floor to find the next antique coin!

In the Recreation Room, there’s a lot of interesting things to check out. Hiding in plain sight among them is the 4th antique coin! Keep an eye out for Jack as he will periodically chase you around the house!

Location

• It is located in the Main House 2F, in the Recreation Room.
• Check the northeast area of the room. Look for a tall side table with a small, round wicker basket. Inside the wicker basket is a Mr. Everywhere bobblehead.
• The coin is next to the wicker basket!

Where to Find Antique Coin #5

There’s no shortage of disgusting moments in Resident Evil 7. While reaching into a toilet is probably the least disgusting of them all, it’s still pretty gross!

In the bathroom on the 2nd floor of the Main House, check out the toilet! Be sure to drain the bathtub and check for other items while you’re there! Watch out, Jack loves to invade your bathroom privacy!

Location

• It is located in the Main House 2F, in the Bathroom.
• The antique coin is inside the toilet in the corner of the bathroom.

Where to Find Antique Coin #6

After you use the item from the upstairs bathtub to solve the shadow puzzle, you’ll find a secret passage. The passage leads to the Drawing Room. There is a wealth of items to pick up in the Drawing Room and the Save Room, including the 6th antique coin!

Location

• It is located in the Main House 1F, in a small unlabeled room between the Drawing Room and the Monitoring Room.
• The antique coin blends in with the ashtray it is placed in. The ashtray is on the long white table.

Where to Find Antique Coin #7

The 7th coin can be hard to find, especially if you’re in a frenzy while fighting the Molded monsters! You’ll need to head down to the Processing Area in the basement of the Main House. When you come across the area with the Scorpion Key, stop there!

Location

• It is located in the Main House B1 Processing Area.
• From the area where you find the Scorpion Key, head in the direction of the Incinerator Room. 
• Look for a wooden pallet leaning against the wall. You can see that a portion of the wall behind the pallet is busted out.
• Search the busted part of the wall for the antique coin!

Where to Find Antique Coin #8

Once you escape the Main House, you get to explore the outside courtyard. There are a ton of hidden items, so take a good chunk of time to explore! Don’t forget to check flower pots, as that’s where coin #8 can be found!

Location

• You’ll need all 3 dog head reliefs to open the front door.
• After exiting the house, leave the porch and explore the area to the right side of the porch.
• Look for flower pots. The antique coin is in one of them!

Where to Find Antique Coin #9

Coin #9 is an easy find! When you finish exploring the yard, head to Zoe’s trailer, and go inside. Not only will you find a coin, but this is also where you encounter the birdcages that you can spend your coins in!

Location

• Head for Zoe’s trailer that is parked near the front porch.
• On the table inside, you’ll find the antique coin next to the birdcage containing the 44 MAG.

Where to Find Antique Coin #10

After visiting Zoe’s trailer, your next destination is the Old House. After some running around, you’ll find the path to the cellar. Not only will you find Lucas holding Mia hostage, but you’ll also find the 10th antique coin!

Location

• You can find the cellar passageway in the Living Room of the Old House.
• Just outside the cellar room, you can find the antique coin on a rolling tray table.

Where to Find Antique Coin #11

The way the Baker family leaves coins around toilets, I’m starting to think they were using toilets as wishing wells! This time, you’ll need to access the outhouse near the Old House. You’ll need the crank that you find while exploring the Old House!

Location

• Exit the Old House through the Dining Room. Head for the wooden outhouse straight ahead.
• Use the crank to lift the bridge to the outhouse.
• Inside the outhouse, look for the antique coin on top of the toilet basin.
• While you’re in the outhouse, you might as well retrieve the Crow Key from it. You’ll need it for the next coin!

Where to Find Antique Coin #12

Once you have the Crow Key, you’ll finally be able to enter the Altar Room that Marguerite tries to keep locked up! She keeps plenty of valuable items tucked away in her Altar Room, including the next antique coin!

Location

• It is located in the Old House Altar Room.
• Head for the room with the crow on it. There’s a big hole in the ground next to it, so you can’t miss it.
• Use the Crow Key to unlock the door.
• In the corner, there is a small set of drawers. The antique corner is in the top drawer!

Where to Find Antique Coin #13

The next 2 coins are located in Lucas’ Testing Area, which you can access after finding the 2 key cards. Coin #13 is a doozy, as there are several thin tripwires that detonate if you touch them. You’ll have to look around carefully because one detonation creates a domino effect of detonations all at once!

Location

• Right before reaching the Barn Area of the Testing Area, enter the last room.
• Disarm all the tripwires by shooting them from a safe range.
• Check the left-most drawer of the green desk for the antique coin!

Where to Find Antique Coin #14

After a wild showdown in Lucas’ barn fight, the elevator will take you to a rest area. Don’t relax too soon, you’ve got a coin to find! Soon after, you’ll have to work your way through the treacherous puzzle room and outsmart Lucas!

Location

• After reaching the burnt corpse with the party room password, continue through the doorway.
• Look for a set of shelves mounted to the wall. The antique coin is on the bottom shelf.

Where to Find Antique Coin #15

Now it’s Mia’s turn to hunt for antique coins! Trek through the Molded-infested Wrecked Ship to find the final 4 coins. The sign of relief after you pick up the final coin is worth the trouble. The first coin on the ship comes up fast, right after Mia’s first flashback.

Location

• Located on the Wrecked Ship S1.
• After Mia’s first flashback, you’ll have to drop into a vent. 
• Take the first right and follow it to the coin.
• You can’t return to this vent passageway later, so don’t forget to grab it!

Where to Find Antique Coin #16

As you continue your initial exploration through the Wrecked Ship, you’ll have to search for another coin! It can be tough to find, and it can take a lot of random moving around in hopes of finding the right spot.

Location

• Soon after finding the previous coin, you’ll drop into a small area with a flooded floor. There will be a platform with a ladder ahead. Don’t climb the ladder yet!
• Search the left side of the area. Move around looking at the floor until the prompt appears to pick up the coin.

Where to Find Antique Coin #17

For this coin, you’ll need to find a lockpick! A lockpick can be found near the coin in the Wrecked Ship 3F Shaft. Once you have a lockpick, head for the Wrecked Ship 3F Control Room!

Location

• Find the lockpick in the Wrecked Ship 3F Shaft.
• Head for the Wrecked Ship 3F Control Room.
• Unlock the locked case. Investigate the inside of the case to grab the antique coin.

Where to Find Antique Coin #18

And now for the grand finale! You’ll finally be able to fill your pockets with pelicans. You’ll need a bottle of corrosive on hand, so be sure to scour the ship for every bottle you can find!

Location

• It is located in the Wrecked Ship S2. 
• Look for a locked container mounted to the wall between the engine rooms.
• Use corrosive on the lock.
• Open it up and enjoy not having to search for any more antique coins!
