[Top 10] Gran Turismo Sport Best Cars in Each Class

Gran Turismo Sport Best Cars in Each Class
Check out the best cars in each class in this beloved racing game

The Gran Turismo series is one of the most popular and longest running video game franchises to date. The newest installment, Gran Turismo Sport, has been a huge success with critics and gamers alike for its realistic gameplay and graphics. From handling differently depending on the type of car you're driving to building your own garage by earning in-game currency from races, there's a lot that goes into this game that will make it worth playing over other racing games. It has been officially certified by the motorsport governing body, the FIA as a proper esports game and even has earned its status as an Olympic event! Racing games are often overlooked in favor of other genres, but the beauty of GT Sport is that it takes the best aspects from all sorts of driving games to create something truly unique. The graphics might be one of the most realistic you'll see, with cars looking like they're really moving down the track and skidding around corners; while at first glance there may not seem to be much going on in terms of gameplay mechanics or variety (it's still just about driving), take some time and you'll realize how much depth this game actually has!

So, with everything going on with the game, there is no better time to rank the best cars in each class in the game. Now it is really hard to classify the top 10, because there are more than 300 cars in different classes in the game, so the list is how well I, personally along with overall driver reception, define the cars. So, let's begin!

Gr.1- Porsche 919 Hybrid

Porsche 919 Hybrid Gameplay

The 919 Hybrid is the first choice for many when they have enough credits to buy a Gr.1 car. This LMP1 car won the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Endurance Championship in 2016 where the #1 car finished 4th and the #2 cars finished 1st overall in the Drivers’ Championship. The total power of the car is 887 HP of which 493 HP is delivered from the rear axle and 395 HP from the back axle. The engine is a 2-liter V4 mounted in the middle.

The 919 is great if you want to drive in endurance races as it’s ERS is really efficient in the straights. You’ll never run out of that extra charge while using it in tracks like Le Mans and Spa and it is really fast in the corners. Plus, due to its easy handling it is also useful in online races with BoP. It also has great visibility due to its high seat position. While it is slightly weak in qualifying, overall, it is the most rational choice for the best Gr.1 Car.

Gr.2- Nissan MOTUL AUTECH Gt-R

Nissan GT-R Gameplay

The Gr.2 cars are evenly matched in terms of power and performance. The class is based on the GT500 cars competing in the Japanese Super GT series. Out of all of them ,the Nissan GT-R seems much more preferable due to its easy handling and drivability. The car is powered by an Inline 4 engine and boasts a max power of 612 BHP.

In tracks like Suzuka or Autopolis, The Nissan really shows why it is the best of all the Gr.2 cars. You can break much earlier and the car won’t slide while driving this car even with the basic setup. Sure In tracks like Spa or Maggiore, it needs some tuning in the ride height section, but other than that it runs really well and it feels good to drive it.

Gr.3- Porsche 911 RSR

Porsche 911 RSR Gameplay

In the game, the Gr.3 class is based on the GT3 and GTE class, so I have to pick the Porsche because it is extremely great to drive and a dependable car overall. This car was Porsche’s answer to the GTE class in the Endurance Championship and IMSA. The car produces around 500 HP from its naturally aspirated V6 engine.

Now, the stock setup of the car works well, but not great. So, you need to adjust everything to match your racing style. The ride height and aerodynamics are typically where I would focus on while taking this car out for a drive-in challenging track like Spa or Monza, and oh boy, it’s very frustrating to get it precise. But when it does click, you can’t be happier. I’d recommend using it in the online mode specifically because with a great setup you can achieve great results both in qualifying and the race.

Gr.4-Lamborghini Huracan

The Gr.4 class is based on the GT4 class and generally speaking, the performance between them is pretty much the same. All the cars run around 500 BHP and have easier handling than their Gr.3 counterparts. For me, the Huracan stands out honestly.

It has a V10 engine and is comparatively lighter than other cars and you’ll have an edge in tracks with difficult corners. The car is nimble and has a proper weight distribution all around which will help you in achieving good results.

Gr. B-Audi Quattro S1 Pikes Peak ‘87

Audi Quattro S1 '87 Gameplay

In Gr. B, the cars are mainly a combination of old and modern rally cars. Of them if you consider every factor, the 1987 Audi Quattro will stand out no doubt. Walter Rohrl won the Pikes Peak Hillclimb with this very car and thus has earned its legendary status.

The car works marvelously if you turn traction control off and have a proper torque distribution in the dirt tracks. It is preferred you tint the car to your likings at first because as always, it depends how you throttle and brake. You can even have fun with it in asphalt tracks if you’re up for it!

Red Bull Concept Cars- Red Bull X2019 Competition

Red Bull X2019 Gameplay

Gran Turismo and Red Bull have a long-standing partnership that produced the hypothetical concept cars, of which the most recent is the Red Bull X2019. This single seater car is based on the concept of a racing car free from all regulations and rules and only has pure performance and speed.

This car differs from other cars in the game as it is in a league of its own. The handling and drivability of this car might not suit your needs at first but once you get used to it, it is perfect. It has a V10 engine and can do about 320 kmh so it is very very fast. If you want to drive a bull in a racing game, well you have it.

N Class- Ferrari F50 ‘95

In terms of the N class which ranges from sedans to sport cars, it is not easy to choose the best car. But for me personally, it’s the Ferrari F50. The attention to details of the F50 in this game is mind-blowing. The Rosso Corsa paint scheme looks majestic as it should. The F50 is the only sports car in Gran Turismo sport to feature a F1 V12 Engine reminiscent of the 1990 Ferrari 641.

The handling of this car is quite difficult as its real-life counterpart. But once you tune it to your likings it will give you all that you want and more. The top speed clocks around 340 kmh and it is exquisite. It literally is an F1 car in a sports car’s body. If you want to drive it traditionally, why not take it around Monza to test its supremacy? And did I mention how majestic it looks?

Modern F1-  Mercedes-AMG F1 W08 EQ

Mercedes AMG F1 Gameplay

The Mercedes F1 W08 is the only licensed F1 car in the game. The W08 led Lewis Hamilton to his 4th F1 Drivers’ title and along with Valtteri Bottas, led Mercedes to their 4th consecutive Constructors’ title in 2017. The W08 has a V6 Turbo Hybrid engine and a total power of 890 HP.

The car is the quickest of all the open seaters in the game but has limited modification options. You can use it in the Arcade mode or take part in the W08 series on various tracks. Although it has different color schemes, you cannot put your own livery on it due to licensing issues. Nevertheless, if you want to take a taste of modern F1, this your only option and honestly, it delivers well.

Classic F1-  Gran Turismo F1500T-A

F1500T-A Gameplay

If you want to relive the glory days of F1 in the 1980s, well the F1500T-A has got you covered. It is the only classic F1 car in the game and honestly, it’s the only one you ever need, The car produces a staggering 986 HP and revs at 11,000 RPM. Spending your credits on it is a worthy investment and you’ll still want more.

You can modify and tune it according to your need and believe me, it is fantastic to drive it. This is a different kind of beast compared to other vehicles in the game. The sound of 20 cars revving has got no comparison. It truly is one of a kind. If you’re a new player I recommend getting this car and taking it for a drive around Suzuka or Monza. Your mind will be blown.

Gr.X-  SRT Tomahawk X VGT

SRT Tomahawk X VGT Gameplay

The Gr.X class has the most innovative sports and concept cars created with modern technology and the SRT Tomahawk wins by a longshot. Ever wanted to drive a fighter jet on a road? The Tomahawk will see to that no problem. The car is the epitome of performance and pushes limits to the extreme and beyond. It boasts a V10 engine and has a total power of 2586 HP. It is literally the fastest car in the game and in the whole series. If you have enough credits, this is the one.

When you look at it, you think that it’s a freak of nature. It is a freak, but a freak of exceptional technological advancement and modern engineering. Physically it is impossible to drive this concept car without a specialized suit as it can reach a top speed of around 750 km h. It excels in all aspects of driving and racing and so that’s why it’s the best car you can drive in the game.

There are a lot of cars out there, and when you throw in all the different types of racing, it can be tough to pick just one. You might find yourself asking "What is the best car?"
