[Top 10] Games Like The Binding of Isaac (Games Better Than The Binding of Isaac In Their Own Way)

Games Like The Binding of Isaac
So many games... I want to play them all T__T

Here you'll find 10 games like the acclaimed indie The Binding of Isaac

Making this top was tough. I mean, c’mon, The Binding of Isaac is unique! Fighting Satan with tears? Try to compete against that in terms of originality!

But overall, that authenticity made for a more interesting selection. After all, we could diverge deeply and find games that are unique in their own style.

Some are colorful. Some are grim. But all of them are addictive.

Here you’ll find 10 video games that, one way or another, resemble The Binding of Isaac.

10. Soul Knight (Android / Switch)

In Soul Knight we’re a knight who shoots fire and laser beams … cool, isn’t it?

Even cooler is selecting more than one character to play with and having even more guns to blast the hell out of the rooms.

This one’s a good first choice for two reasons: First of all, runs are short, which means you can finish it in an hour or less if you are good enough. Secondly, you can download it to your cellphone.

So now you know, delete Tinder and install Soul Knight instead. We both know you’ll find it more productive.

9. Blazing Beaks (PC / Switch)

Have you ever fantasized about being a platypus with a pistol? Or dream about being a parrot with a laser gun? Or a chicken with a swift?

Never!? What do you fantasize about, then? Dating your crush???

Now, for those like me who daydream about normal things, Blazing Beaks is the game you were looking for.

It’s a roguelike shooter with different peak animals to choose from. Kill everything at your sight while you make your way through swamps, dungeons, and cemeteries. The graphics are pleasing and the characters lovely, so give it a try!

8. Crypt of the Necrodancer  (PC / PS4 / PS Vita / Xbox One / Switch)

What if I told you there’s a dungeon crawler in which you have to move according to the rhythm of the music? I know, you would probably say: “Man, I already know this game you dumbass! It’s called Crypt of the Necrodancer” and you’d be right.

However, for those who are unaware of it, here’s what the game’s about: a dungeon crawler in which you have to move according to the rhythm of the music.

Following the beat is key for fighting and advancing through the cells. Fail to match it, and your scoring multiplier gets reset. Also, you may fall into the monster´s attack path, and no one wants that (except the monster).

If you were looking for an original, different experience, you have found it here.

7. Spelunky (PC / Xbox 360 / PS3 / PS4 / Switch)

Spelunky has long ago become a classic. In fact, it predates TBOI. Some claim its roguelike elements served as inspiration for many of the video games presented on this list, but hey, who cares?

Here we have an Indiana Jones type-of, side-scrolling adventure in which we have to dig into tunnels, avoid deadly traps, collect gold, and run away from ghosts.

It has a co-op mode, which makes it even more enjoyable. Plus, when you die, you can follow your partner as a spirit floating all around. BFF even after death.

6. Ziggurat (PC / Xbox One / PS4 / Wii U / Switch)

What a high-quality first-person shooter. We get in the shoes of an apprentice sorcerer, yearning to enter one of the most exclusive and powerful circles of wizards.

But the entrance to the Ziggurat is no easy task. You’ll have to use your magician abilities to win the tournament.

Fight with your magic wands and spell books against Basilisks, living skeletons, giant mushrooms, and floating heads.

Will you make it to the end? There’s only one way to find it out.

5. Rogue Legacy (PC / PS4 / PS Vita / Xbox One / Switch)

As the name implies, we have yet another roguelike video game. And while this one’s a Metroidvania game, TBOI players will absolutely love it.

Rogue Legacy is a 2-D medieval platformer in which we get to play with a brand new character every time we die. each new character being an heir of our previous character.

More specifically, once we die, we get to select one of three players to become the successor of the defuncted previous character. To make things more interesting, every knight has its singular attributes.

If you thought dying was no fun at all, wait until you play this game!

4. Heavy Bullets (PC)

Heavy Bullets is not a 2-D, angled top-down camera game like The Binding of Isaac. Instead, it’s a First-Person Shooter.

In Heavy Bullets, you descend basement after basement, making your way through the wilderness. Once you die, then it’s back to square one.

Our mission is to exterminate a wide number of insects, torrents, and animals that are out of their minds. And We do this with a revolver with reusable bullets

The levels are mesmerizing thanks to their bright and vivid colors. Diving into this glowing jungle is so immersive you’ll forget you restarted the match for the 15th time.

3. Nuclear Throne (PC / PS4 / PS Vita / Xbox One / Switch)

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Nuclear Throne presents us with a top-down, roguelike shooter. Our main mission is to reach Nuclear Throne, the final boss, through a series of levels full of monsters and mutants that we’ll have to annihilate.

There are two characters to select from, and the other 10 waiting to be unlocked through gameplay. Each comes with distinctive special abilities that make for a richer replay value.

The level-up system is rather original too. By upgrading, we can choose a type of mutation that provides unique abilities for the character. Ultimately, this makes for an even more replayable video game.

2. Don’t Starve (PC / PS3 / PS4 / PS Vita / Wii U / Switch / Xbox One)

Both TBOI and Don’t Starve share a gloomy, dark atmosphere, and horrifying but cute creatures.

In this Tim Burton-like adventure, all we have to do is (you guessed it!) don’t starve. But wait, there’s more! We also have to balance our health and sanity levels.

For this, one must collect wood, food, and resources from the forest. Make sure you make a fire or have some other source of light, cause when night comes, you’ll be visited by giant spiders, one-eyed birds, and some idiot called Charlie who attacks you when the screen is dark (you coward, come see me in plain daylight if you dare!).

1. Enter the Gungeon (PC / PS4 / Xbox One / Switch)

The number one spot goes to a game where you dodge bullets that are shot by bullets and then shoot those bullets with more bullets.

It’s a mess, but the game is fascinating! And of course, there’s more than just bullets, and bullets, and bullets.

Enter The Gungeon has a wide diversity of guns to use, with different types of bullets.

And there’s a boss that’s a tall bird with a machine gun that fires bullets. And then a bullet king sitting on a throne made of guns that shoot even more bullets. And then… well, it has yet more bullets.

Now, which one you’ll try first?
