What are the best armor sets for each role as a Nightblade in ESO?
Gear is the name of the game when putting together a strong build. Of course there are many things to be considered, such as skill points, champion points, boons and much more, but the backbone of your build are the armor sets that you are wearing.
In this list we will be going over the 15 best armor sets for each role as a Nightblade, that being Stamina DPS, Magicka DPS, Tank and Healer. Keep in mind that the sets are in no particular order, and instead each of them have their own particular strengths.
15. Kinras’s Wrath
Kinras’s Wrath is an amazing set that you can get in the Black Drake Villa Dungeon if you have the Flames of Ambition DLC or an active subscription. What makes this set so strong is the fact that you get a constant source of Major Berserk on your character and Minor Berserk on you and your party members, increasing the overall damage output by a very good amount.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Stamina DPS;
- You want constant Major Berserk;
- You want constant Minor Berserk to you and your party members;
- You want high Weapon and Spell Damage;
- You want high Critical Chances.
How to get the Kinras’s Wrath Set:
- Black Drake Villa Dungeon Drops (Flames of Ambition DLC).
14. Pillar of Nirn
Another DLC set, Pillar of Nirn drops in the Falkreath Hold Dungeon, which is part of the Horns of the Reach DLC. This set deals great amounts of bleed damage, which also hits in a small radius around your target, increasing your AoE DPS.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Stamina DPS;
- You want to deal AoE Damage;
- You want to deal bleed Damage;
- You want high Maximum Stamina;
- You want high Weapon and Spell Damage;
- You want high Critical Chances.
How to get the Pillar of Nirn Set:
- Falkreath Hold Dungeon Drops (Horns of the Reach DLC).
13. Spriggan’s Thorns
Spriggan’s Thorn is an absolute classic when it comes to Stamina DPS builds. This set drops in Bangkorai, which is part of the base game, making it a very easily accessible option. It increases your damage by a great amount and is an especially good option for players who play on the offensive and rely on their class and weapon skills to get the job done without any proc effects.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Stamina DPS;
- You want very high Maximum Stamina;
- You want high Weapon and Spell Damage;
- You want high Offensive Penetration;
- You are going to play aggressively.

12. Briarheart
Briarheart is a very balanced option for Stamina DPS players, providing you with increases in overall damage and criticals. On top of that, you get a small source of sustain through Self Healing. This set is a part of the Orsinium DLC, and it drops on the Wrothgar Overland.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Stamina DPS;
- You want high Critical Chances;
- You are going to focus on Critical Damage;
- You want high Weapon and Spell Damage;
- You want high Maximum Stamina;
- You want a source of Self Healing sustain.
How to get the Briarheart Set:
- Wrothgar Overland Drops (Orsinium DLC).
11. Mother’s Sorrow
Mother’s Sorrow can be found in Deshaan. The set is often used in magicka builds . It gives a huge amount of extra spell critical. Most builds frontbar this set even though you loose the 5 piece bonus on the backbar. However, most builds are only on the backbar for a short duration, therefore minimizing the downtime of the 5 piece bonus. I can highly recommend this set for most situations, it is very strong for both Single Target and AoE damage.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Magicka DPS;
- You want very high Critical Chances;
- You are going to strongly focus on Critical Strikes;
- You want high Maximum Magicka;
- You are going to play aggressively.
How to get the Mother's Sorrow Set:
- Deshaan Overland Drops.
10. Spell Strategist
Spell Strategist is a very strong and accessible option for Magicka DPS players, being obtainable through PvP rewards. It provides you with insane amounts of Weapon and Spell damage when focusing a single target.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Magicka DPS;
- You want high Maximum Magicka;
- You want very high Weapon and Spell Damage;
- You are going to focus on single target Damage;
- You prefer playing PvP.

9. Law of Julianos
Law of Julianos is a classic armor set for Magicka DPS players. This set is very balanced in terms of the offensive attributes it gives you, covering everything you need. Furthermore, it is obtainable through crafting, so it is very easy to get this set if you are a crafter or have a friend who does a lot of crafting. You will need to own the Orsinium DLC or have an active subscription to have access to the crafting yourself though.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Magicka DPS;
- You want high Critical Chances;
- You want high Maximum Magicka;
- You want high Weapon and Spell Damage;
- You have high levels of crafting skills.

8. Spinner’s Garments
Spinner’s Garments is a very useful set for solo players, bringing a very balanced amount of attributes to your character, including Offensive Penetration, which is the biggest determining factor when it comes to your overall damage output. This set is also very accessible, being an Overland Drop from Malabal Tor, which is part of the base game.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Magicka DPS;
- You want very high Maximum Magicka;
- You want high Weapon and Spell Damage;
- You want high Offensive Penetration;
- You prefer grinding to crafting.
How to get the Spinner's Garments Set:
- Malabal Tor Overland Drops.
7. Ebon Armory
Ebon Armory is one of those sets that every Tank should have on their storage, just in case. It drastically increases the survivability of your group with the Maximum Health boost and also makes you very tanky.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Tank;
- You want very high Maximum Health;
- You are going to play with a party;
- You want to buff your party members;
- You want to increase your Healing Taken.

- Crypt of Hearts I & II Dungeon Drops.
6. Plague Doctor
What do you need as a Tank? If your answer is lots of Health, then this is the perfect set for you. Plague Doctor is an Overland Drop set from the Deshaan zone that can boost your health to insane numbers, going even above the 50k HP mark.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Tank;
- You are going to strongly focus on having a high Health pool;
- You want very high Maximum Health;
- You want to wear heavy armor;
- You prefer grinding to crafting.
How to get the Plague Doctor Set:
- Deshaan Overland Drops.
5. Leeching Plate
Leeching Plate is a personal favorite of mine, mostly because I love doing content as a solo off-tank player. This set will keep you alive in almost every situation as long as there is a decent amount of enemies around you through its insane life steal ability. You will need the Imperial City DLC or an active subscription to get this set by yourself.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Tank;
- You want high Maximum Health;
- You want to increase your Healing Taken;
- You want high Self Healing sustain;
- You are going to play solo;

4. Battalion Defender
Battalion Defender is another PvP reward set that is very easily obtainable by any ESO player. This is a great option for Tanks who want a balanced amount of attributes and the ability to heal their party members. The healing from this set is no joke either, sometimes reaching numbers that make you feel like the healer of the group.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Tank;
- You want high Maximum Health;
- You want high Maximum Stamina;
- You are going to play with a party;
- You want to heal your party members;
- You prefer playing PvP.
How to get the Battalion Defender Set:
- PvP Rewards.
3. Spell Power Cure
If you are confident in your ability to overheal yourself and your allies, then this set is a great option for you. With the Spell Power Cure armor set, healers are able to greatly increase the Weapon and Spell Damage of the whole party when overhealing them. Keep in mind that you will need the Imperial City DLC or an active subscription to get this set by yourself.

2. The Worm’s Raiment
Another great set for Healers that is available on the base game, The Worm’s Raiment is completely focused on sustain, increasing the Magicka recovery of you and your party members. This allows your party to keep spamming their abilities for maximum damage. Furthermore, this set is accessible very easily on the base game.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Healer;
- You want high Maximum Magicka;
- You want high Magicka recovery;
- You want to increase the Magicka recovery of your party members;
- You want to focus on sustain rather than output.
How to get the Worm's Raiment Set:
- Vaults of Madness Dungeon Drops.
1. Hollowfang Thirst
Hollowfang Thirst is the last set on this list, being another Healer set. It is a Dungeon Drop from the Moongrave Fane Dungeon, meaning you will need the Scalebreaker DLC to get it by yourself. This set’s ability spawns blood spheres when you deal a Critical Damage or Critical Healing, these spheres then explode restoring Magicka and applying Minor Vitality to all allies in range.
Get this Set if:
- You are going to play a Healer;
- You want high Critical Chances;
- You want high Maximum Magicka;
- You are going to focus on Critical Healing;
- You want to increase the Health and Magicka sustain of your party members.
How to get the Hollowfang Thirst Set:
- Moongrave Fane Dungeon Drops (Scalebreaker DLC).
