[Top 5] Dota 2 Best Legion Commander Builds

Legion Commander: the only female strength hero in DotA 2 that keeps Valve from being called sexist.

Gone are the days when people used to cringe every time someone held their cursor above the cursed Legion Commander. LC used to be a mantra of loathing in the DotA 2 community when the “Jungle Midas Legion” became the most popular build of the time. But, fortunately for the game and our MMR, those days are long gone. Now, Legion is a scary offlaner capable of solo killing any hero in the game.

Legion Commander’s Role

LC is mainly played as an offlane hero. However, she can mix it up here and there with a casual mid-lane or safelane thrown here and there too. But, the tanky strength hero terrorizes the enemy safe laner while in the offlane. His ability pair up quite nicely against a hero looking to farm. He can easily harass the enemy laner and heal through any harass with his W as well as his passive ability.

However, the main power spike for Legion comes as soon as she gets a Blink Dagger and has her ultimate ready to go along with it. This transcends Legion into a beast of a ganker that can easily reach any hero in the backline and once she starts racking up that bonus damage from the duel victories.

Moreover, in the super late game, LC is an absolute maniac at pushing towers. Even if a Legion has a half-decent game, at about 50 minutes in, she has a damage of over 400 pretty easily. Once you hit that power spike in damage, you can tear through buildings very, very quickly. But, to get up to that level of damage, you need items; items that can help you survive through the duration of the duel. The right build in every game could play a deciding factor in your game. So, if you’re looking to see how many different ways you can play the hero, we’re going to do just that.

5. Duel – Duel – Duel

The forever threatening horns and blade of the Legion Commander.

There’s not really a better name to give this build, to be very honest. It revolves all-around LC’s unique ultimate and keeping it off cooldown at all times.

This is a highly situational build that will not work 70% of the time due to the sheer absurdity of the items involved. However, the few matches that it will work in will be an absolute rollover.

What This Build is Good For?

  • Making space for your safelane carry to farm.
  • Setting up ganks around the map and getting kills constantly.
  • Racking up an insane amount of damage very quickly.

4. Tanky Offlane Legion

LC can sometimes have a very Tony-Stark-After-Exhibiting-His-Missiles feel to her sometimes.

This LC has only one concern and one concern only. She’s supposed to be really tanky to ensure that no matter which enemy carry is caught in the Duel, LC will be the one to walk out alive. This build isn’t entirely focused on damage; it makes Legion a tank that can survive every duel she casts.

What this Build is Good For?

  • Survivability is the first benefit.
  • The enemy will rarely win a duel and get the extra damage.
  • You don’t need to do much for damage, it sorts of comes automatically.

3. Anti-Illusion LC

There's three LCs in this picture, but please, don't make a Manta on LC! Just Don't.

So, the enemy had the last pick and they go with a really crowdy hero like Chaos Knight or even Meepo, you think you’re screwed now because there’s no splash damage against the enemy team and you don’t know what to do. Well, don’t worry. LC is actually an amazing hero against crowdy units when plays properly. When you pair up decent items with her Overwhelming Odds, you will tear through illusions.

What this Build is Good For?

  • Great against illusions.
  • High damage and great crowd control.
  • Helps LC chase any fleeing foes.

2. Rapid Fire LC

Bloodseeker's blades on LC? Looks better, tbh.

Do you know what makes a 400-attack damage LC even better? A 400-attack damage LC with insane attack speed. At this point, an LC is truly unstoppable and will be impossible to man fight. Moreover, this version of a Legion is absurd at taking towers and sieging. One blink of an eye, and poof! Tower gone!

What this Build is Good For?

  • Tearing down buildings and tearing them down fast.
  • You’ll win literally every single duel.
  • Great pair up with huge extra damage.

1. Standard LC

The simplest and most effective way to play LC is the standard LC. Even though it's one of the most boring builds on this list, it’s still the most stable and will work in most of your games. If you’re really conflicted regarding what item to make, this is more of a universal build that will work in every single game.

What this Build is Good For?

  • A decent ratio between offensive, defensive and attack speed items.
  • Great for pretty much any game.
  • Let’s LC start off as a ganker and transition into a carry later on.
