Danganronpa V3 Killing Harmony is the third game of the Danganronpa series. Throughout each game, we discover some of the most unique, scary, and even downright disturbing characters, many of which end up becoming fan favourites. Danganronpa V3 is said to be the most advanced of the series, with shiny new characters for everyone to enjoy.

But which one’s your favourite? This article ranks the top 10 characters in the game, so you know who to look out for. But beware, this article contains a few spoilers!

10. Himiko Yumeno

Himiko Yumeno, the Supposed Magician

Himiko Yumeno, the Supposed Magician

Himiko Yumeno, the Ultimate Magician, is seen as one of the most relatable characters in the game. She’s one of the three survivors of the killing game, but there are many who think she doesn’t deserve it due to her lack of effort. However, she’s actually a very dedicated member of the class.

In the beginning, Himiko is seen to be a lethargic character who loves to sleep and talks in a very lax manner. She only showed enthusiasm for her magic, which even then was lacklustre and seemingly fake. However, she had a turnaround after her dear friend, Tenko, was killed.

She then had newfound motivation to end the killing game, and became a great source of help and care. Her passion managed to keep her from being killed throughout the entire game. This sincere dedication, along with her heartbreak, makes Himiko endearing to those playing the game, who can see her pure heart.

9. K1-B0

K1-B0, the One and Only Robot Human

K1-B0, the One and Only Robot Human

K1-B0, also known as Kiibo, or Kee-boy by Kokichi, is the Ultimate Robot in the game. His sincerity and easy-to-fool nature makes him an entertaining character in the game, for both the player and, evidently, the rest of his classmates.

Kiibo was relentlessly subject to Kokichi’s teasing, due to Kokichi believing that Kiibo wasn’t really affected by any of it because he’s a robot, and robots don’t have feelings, to which Kiibo expresses that ‘robophobia’ is very common in today’s society. Despite being uptight, he’s seen to be the voice of the audience in the game, and eventually speaks up for himself after losing his ahoge.

His newfound moral compass causes him to destroy the whole school so the killing game can end once and for all. He sacrifices himself in the process, and ensures the rest of the students, except for the mastermind, is safe. This gallant attitude makes him a great character to befriend in the game.

8. Korekiyo Shinguji

Korekiyo Shinguji, the guy Who's Just Messed Up

Korekiyo Shinguji is a character often described as marmite - you either love him or you hate him. He’s the Ultimate Anthropologist, and is executed after killing both Tenko and Angie. However, these deaths weren’t his first rodeo, and he’s discovered to have killed almost one hundred people.

He reveals that he wanted to kill one hundred people, mostly girls, who he thought were suitable to be companions with his dead sister. This sister of his ignited his love for anthropology, and it was implied that his love for her was incestuous, leading the player to believe he was groomed.

Despite his shocking past, he’s usually a sophisticated and flamboyant student, easily making friends with everyone by sharing interesting facts and helping out as much as possible. He bonds with Rantaro due to their shared love for their sisters, although Korekiyo’s love was Romantic and Rantaro’s was entirely platonic. Korekiyo’s many layers make him a great character to dissect.

7. Rantaro Amami

Rantaro Amami, the Older Brother of the Class

Rantaro Amami, the Older Brother of the Class

Rantaro Amami is seen as the enigma of the game, and the big brother of the class. He has two ultimate talents, with his original one being the Ultimate Adventurer, and his second one being the Ultimate Survivor, as he survives a previous killing game despite being the first student dead in Danganronpa V3. For a while, his ultimate talent was described as ‘???’.

He’s a wealthy and attractive person, causing him to be hit on many times, despite his wishes to have a meaningful and platonic friendship with girls. He has many beloved sisters and somehow lost them all, and he’s determined to find them again. Rantaro also appears after his death in the game in the form of video clips, explaining  more secrets of the Killing game he’s in to help take it down.

Rantaro, despite his shortcomings when it comes to girls, is a resilient and rational friend to everyone around him, which made his death a shock. His adaptability to the killing game makes him an asset to befriend in the game.

6. Tenko Chabashira

Tenko Chabashira, the Terminal Man-Hater

Tenko Chabashira, the Terminal Man-Hater

Tenko Chabashira is the Ultimate Neo-Aikido Master. Although she was trained by a male, she seemingly despises all males, as she believes that they’ll drain her fighting spirit, and she won’t be able to perfect her Neo-Aikido, despite Neo-Aikido not actually existing in real life.

Tenko is a dedicated friend to those she deems suitable, and even warms up to males in her class such as Shuichi, Gonta and even Kiibo, namely because she believes Kiibo is a robot and not a human boy. She slowly opens up to the rest of her class, and forms a strong friendship with Himiko and Angie, who she died for after trying to get Angie’s dead spirit to reveal who killed her.

Tenko, although blunt, is seen to be very emotionally intelligent, and can read the feelings of whoever she body slams. She also is said to be very pretty, and has a mature character, which flips whenever she speaks about or to a male. Her hysterics are what makes Tenko herself, and causes her to be a very lovable student in the game.

5. Shuichi Saihara

Shuichi Saihara, the Game's Protagonist

Shuichi Saihara, the Game's Protagonist

Shuichi Saihara is the second playable character in the game, after Kaede dies. He’s the Ultimate detective, and plays the role of discovering who the Blackened is in class trials. He’s also one of the three survivors of the game, alongside Himiko and another girl.

Shuichi is a rather introverted character, and at the start of the game would wear his cap to hide under, until he falls for Kaede and listens to her when she suggests for him to take it off. Although Shuichi has a gift for deduction, he frequently fails to notice the hidden feelings of others. This may be a trauma response by blocking out negative feelings towards him.

It also could be because there’s no room for feelings when sentencing someone, as Shuichi had come to learn in his past. All in all, Shuichi’s natural awkwardness and high intelligence makes him a relatable and interesting character to play and interact with.

4. Kirumi Tojo

Kirumi Tojo, the Older Sister of the Class

Kirumi Tojo, the Older Sister of the Class

Kirumi Tojo is the Ultimate Maid. As her Ultimate title suggests, she’s incredibly responsible and is seen as the older sister of the class by many. Even Kokichi wished for her to be his mother. With her great maturity comes great intelligence too.

It’s seen in the game that Kirumi is actually in charge of the Japanese government, and she needed to escape the game due to the fate of the country resting on her shoulders. Because of this, she kills Ryoma, and faces one of the most dreadful executions in the game.

However, Kirumi didn’t go down without a fight, and was exposed trying to guilt-trip someone into being executed in her stead, so she can continue to live with a chance to survive. Kirumi’s frequent level-headedness is a breath of fresh air compared to all of the irrationality coming from everyone else, making her a great member of the class.

3. Gonta Gokuhara

Gonta Gokuhara, the Gentle Giant

Gonta Gokuhara, the Gentle Giant

Gonta Gokuhara is the Ultimate Entomologist, and is labelled as the gentle giant of the game. He loves everyone and everything, even insects, and often has a childish outlook on life. Though he may not be smart, he has a sharp eye and a big heart to make up for it.

During the game, we see Gonta as Kokichi’s minion, although it appears at first glance that they’re good friends due to both of them being child-like. He does everything Kokichi says, and suffers a terrible execution as a result of murdering Miu, as ordered by his friend.

Gonta was abandoned by his wealthy family and raised by a pack of wolves as a child so has a limited comprehension of human behaviour. However, he strives to be a gentleman that his parents are proud of, and many will agree that he achieves this, being both a great gentleman and a great friend.

2. Miu Iruma

Miu Iruma, the Game's 'it' Girl

Miu Iruma, the Game's 'it' Girl

Miu Iruma, the Ultimate Inventor, may seem like a simple character when speaking to her casually in the game, but we see she’s actually a very adept and cunning student. Her brash and blunt personality crowns her as the game’s ‘it’ girl, with her cute pink uniform and stylish appearance.

We see throughout the game, she makes crude and frequently inappropriate jokes at inconvenient times, having a moderate obsession with sexual themes. However, it’s seen that whenever takes a stand, she becomes submissive and compliant. Don’t be fooled by her airhead behaviour, however, as she’s seen making dangerous inventions and holds ulterior motives.

She successfully repairs the Neo World Program and tricks everyone into believing it’s a safe place to live without being killed, but she herself formed a very complex plan to kill Kokichi as she thought he was the mastermind. Her playful attitude is overshadowed by her responsibility when there’s work to be done, making her a fan favourite.

1. Kokichi Oma

Kokichi Oma, the Ultimate Supreme Leader

Kokichi Oma, the Cement Between the Bricks of the Game

Kokichi Oma, the Ultimate Supreme Leader, is known across the globe as Danganronpa V3’s most beloved character. Standing at 5 '1 tall with a scruffy uniform, he may not look like much at first glance, but there’s much more to him than meets the eye. He’s essentially the glue to the bricks of the game.

During the game, we see Kokichi as an immature child who lies most of the time, for no good reason. Later on, we even see how he manipulates Gonta into killing someone, and seemingly expresses no remorse for his actions. However, after his death, we see how Kokichi was simply putting up an evil front, and he actually cares for his classmates a lot, sacrificing himself in an attempt to end the killing game.

His backstory is a sad one too, where his secret organisation is actually himself and a band of street urchins playing tricks on people for fun. He believes no one really cares for him and has a terminal case of insomnia, and is essentially the cement between the bricks of the game. His character is a confusing one that ultimately pulls on people’s heartstrings, making him the most popular character in the game.
