Daggers may not be the first weapon that comes to mind when you envision a Viking Drengr, however in the right hands can be a deadly weapon on any battlefield. Below are arguably the top 5 best daggers in all of Assassins Creed Valhalla, with information about their backstory and stats and how to get them. 

 

5. Yngling seax

This dagger or seax can be found early in the game, with stats that hold up till the end game with some upgrades is a great first choice when building a dagger combat focused character. The bonus trait of this weapon really leans in to a combat style that fits with daggers, increasing your melee damage by 15 after dodging an attack. A Seax is an old English word for ‘knife’ specifically in regards to knives that could be seen as small swords carried by Germanic peoples like the Saxons. 

Why is the Yngling Seax so great?

  • It can be found very early on
  • The bonus trait fits the playstyle 
  • Easy to upgrade
  • Looks very cool when it’s final appearance is reached

Where to get it?

It can be found in a town called Eikundarsund found Southwest of Marauder’s Den in Norway. It is in a chest in the largest building in the town guarded by a whole host of enemies. 

 

4.Ljosalfar blade

The name for this weapons comes from what translates as ‘Light Elves’ in Norse Mythology. Said to be fairer than the sun to look at. In contemporary words these Light Elves are seen as ‘Angels’. The bonus trait of this weapon, increasing your heavy damage while at low health makes this weapon a great last resort blade.

  • Powerful Bonus trait
  • Large stun stat
  • Lighter than most daggers

3.Jords blade  

Jord meaning “Earth” in Old Norse is named for the giantess mother of Thor and Mistress to Odin. In keeping with the in game lore that what we see as “gods” in any culture are actually Isu from the First Civilisation, this is a mythical dagger. The stats of this blade are great however lacking in the speed aspect, but with a bonus trait of increasing poison damage will counter act this problem.

  • It is a Mythical Isu weapon
  • Easy to get
  • High stun stat

2.Huldufolk Blade

Huldufolk comes from a sect of elves in Icelandic Mythology, being known as “Hidden People” and supernatural beings that live in nature. This is represented through the blades bonus trait by increasing back damage by 25 after dodging, so move quick get behind your opponent and take a huge chunk of it’s health down. 

Why is the Huldufolk Blade so Great?

  • Faster than the previous couple of entries
  • Is another mythical Isu weapon
  • Great bonus trait

  • Speed- 80
  • Stun- 104
  • Critical Chance- 90

Where to get it?

As good as this weapon is, it is unfortunately another micro-transaction purchase. Costing a whopping 1500 Helix Credits as part of the Huldufolk Pack, you can get it from the in game store. 

1.Drengiligr

Coming from the Old Norse meaning “noble minded or valiant” a fitting name for the dagger held by Ragnar Lothbrook himself. Forged from Damascus steel and left in a pit of snakes until Eivor completes challenges to find it. Again a slower weapon but the bonus trait deploys a smoke bomb after a kill while outnumbered, giving you valuable time in combat.

  • Low weight
  • Looks great
  • High damage and stun
  • Unique bonus trait

Where to get it?

After defeating all six of the lost Drengr’s of Ragnar Lothbrook’s great army, a mission starts to find the pit of snakes. It is said Ragnar Lothbrook met his end after being lowered into a pit of snakes. Upon arriving to the location you get a brief interpretation of events, then notice a glint of metal in the pit. So take out the snakes then hop down and claim your prize.
