15. Rust

In Rust, you're one of thousands of players, all running around and grabbing up anything they can find to survive. Be careful, and keep an eye out for people trying to crack you over the head with a rock.  We love Rust because of the freedom you have while playing. An average Rust player can hunker down in the ruins of a Lighthouse and construct a base, sneak around at night and raid other players, or wander the world and do a little bit of both, so don't get too comfy or you might get snuck up on!

Rust: perfect for postcards and ambushin’

14. Destiny 2

Pick from three distinct, powerful classes, and unlock a seemingly endless variety of guns, weapons and skills to do everything from freeze enemies, set the battlefield on fire or take down enemies by the horde with lightning!

Yep, even the rocks want to kill you

13. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

Cyberpunk 2077:Phantom Liberty is an open world RPG shooter, set in a gritty future full of all things punk and neon.

In contrast to some other Open World shooters, Cyberpunk 2077:Phantom Liberty focuses on an incredible story, and we won't blame you for taking some tissues along for the emotional moments.

Keep your eyes out in Cyberpunk 2077:Phantom Liberty, because danger and excitement lurk around every corner, and you can't chuck a stone down the road without hitting a new adventure.

Neon is the word of the day

12. Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the newest open world shooter by the legendary  Rockstar Studios.

In game, you'll face off against the most dangerous gangs of the wild west as more random encounters than you can shake a stick at. Everything you can think of to win is on the table, so think out the box if you wanna survive out there.

You’ve got to keep your head on a swivel while you're out doing whatever cowboys do, because you can’t go five minutes in the west without stumbling into another side quest or treasure hunt!

Tip: if you see someone with a bandana over their face, shoot first

11. Fallout 76

Fallout 76 is an open world shooter set in the post apocalypse, full of ghouls, monsters and a plentiful dose of killer robots. After you emerge from a bunker into the ruined world, it’ll be up to you to piece everything back together.

Explore the wilds of West Virginia after a world ending nuclear war, running and gunning through a dangerous wasteland to repair the world. You’ll run into plenty of fellow players, and it’ll be up to you to befriend or fight them! While you’re out, collect some weapons and some armor, then construct a base to stash your gear in, but watch out for looters!

Stay vigilant out there though, because the wasteland is always full of more surprises…

Meet the Deathclaw, a great example of why sometimes its better to take the safe roads in an apocalypse

10. Hunt: Showdown

If you're a fan of bounty hunting, High stakes gunplay or open world PVE action, you can’t do much better than Hunt: Showdown. Pick your characters, select some weapons, and probably some rain boots (seriously, the swamps will never fail to get you soaking wet), and get hunting! Eyes in the back of your head might also be helpful, because there always seems to be someone hunting you down while you're trying to work.

Claim as much fame as you can, but don’t get too attached to your character, because one death means losing alllllll of the gear you worked so hard to collect.

You know it's a good game when even the enemies act cool around explosions

9. DayZ

DayZ is an open world zombie survival game, probably the best you can ask for in a modern world of zombie bashing fun!

In DayZ, you'll scavenge for guns and ammo while dodging zombies and enemy players. Everyone else is just as desperate as you are, so hang onto any advantage you can get your hands on!DayZ is all about survival, and you’ve got to stay on the move and gather guns, ammunition and armor. Be sure to keep your finger on the trigger though, as other players are never far away and you’ll find the zombies you encounter are a lot faster and a lot more aggressive than you might expect.

Social distance, dude!

8. Metro: Exodus

Metro: Exodus is a story rich open world shooter, full of detailed mechanics and more than a little bit of horror!

Sneak and fight your way through the dark, dangerous tunnels underneath Moscow, fending off mutated animals, monsters, and the ever present threats of a harsh environment. Metro: Exodus is all about exploration, and we love it because of its attention to detail and atmosphere. Everything about this place is doing its best to kill you, but damn it if that tension isn’t fun!

This takes walking in a winter wonderland to a whole new level

7. Squad

Squad is a multiplayer open world shooter that's all about massive, one hundred player battles.

take part in 50 v 50 battles, fighting and yelling your way over open world maps in realistic, high stakes combat. You’ll end up doing everything from fighting on the ground, constructing fortifications and communicating with other soldiers and teams.

The action never stops Squad, and every minute of the match is filled with that classic multiplayer mayhem!

All the realism you can ask for, minus the sand in your boots

6. HITMAN 3

HITMAN 3 is an open world stealth assassination game, focused on sneaking around maps filled with opportunities for someone to disappear (Whether that’s you or the enemy is up to you).

Your goal? Assassinate a target or two, and maybe pick up some sensitive files if you're feeling ambitious. Your method? That’s up to you. Stage accidents, sneak in through windows, steal the clothes of a guard and blend in, you're only limited by your imagination.

We love this game for its stealth mechanics, but if you prefer the classic approach, waiting in a bush and whacking someone with a pipe usually works too.

Keep your eyes open for new ways to take down targets

5. Arma 3

Arma 3 is an open world MilSim shooter without almost complete player freedom. Wrangle some buddies into a server and form your very own army to play, or join up with an online team!

your army's goals are often self-defined. You could collaborate to siege a city and take it back, block by block, or stage a multi-team assault on an enemy convoy to take down enemy armies and repurpose their supplies, everything you can think of is on the table. Be careful though, because the enemy won’t be fighting fair either. Arma 3 is the best you can get in the world of MilSim games, with endless customization and enough mods to drown in. it doesn’t get better than this!

Watch out!

4. Insurgency: Sandstorm

Insurgency: Sandstorm is an online FPS game about team battles, and it’s some of the most fun you can have in gaming today!

In Insurgency: Sandstorm, you’ll pick from a variety classes and weapons in online matches. Your goal is to blast your way through enemy teams and secure objectives. (and, of course, to compete for who can get the coolest trickshot.)
Insurgency: Sandstorm is full of explosive mayhem, and by the time you finish a match, you’ll be itching to start up another right away!

Ka-boom!

3. Tom Clancy’s The Division® 2

Tom Clancy’s The Division® 2 is an open world shooter filled with block-by-block combat in the ruins of a destroyed Washington DC.   pick from a variety of elite operators and customizable weapons, then pick an objective and get out there! (highlights include stealing the Declaration of Independence, if that sounds cool to you.)

Your objective is to fight your way through an apocalypse and retake the city, one street at a time. Go at it alone or team up with some buddies for some classic couch co-op, but watch your backs, because you never know when you might stumble into a trap!

It’s a bit of a mess in here

2. Sniper Elite 5

Sniper Elite 5 is all about stealthing, sniping and running through a series of open world maps while uncovering a classic World War 2 conspiracy.

Your goal is to assassinate targets and collect information, but unlike most other games, Sniper Elite 5 is all about the…longer…approach to victory. Find a good spot and settle in, then take out your target from half a mile away when he least expects it.  You'll have to account for everything from wind speed to bullet drop, but if you manage to pull it off, the money shot is well worth the effort.

We love Sniper Elite 5 for its open world missions, with plenty of room to climb around and find new spots to make your moment.

Vacation on the beach, they’ll never expect it!

1. Mafia: Definitive Edition

Mafia: Definitive Edition is a sandbox crime shooter, all about shooting and stealing your way through the 1930’s to the top of the mafia. (fancy suits aren't required to play, but it can’t hurt.)

The game is full of story, but it doesn't skimp on the fun either!  Keep on the move while you’re making a move for yourself to stay out of trouble, and always keep your finger on the trigger!

If you're a fan of open world mayhem or crime drama, don't miss out on this one!

Get outta the way!
